This place is beautiful.” Nora wrapped her arms around his and leaned on his shoulder.

She watched as the waves of the sea hit the sand. The cold waves washed her feet and returned groaning.

She felt as if they were complaining to her that she was still standing there and not following them.

Her eyes turned misty for some reason.

“When I said that I wanted to have seafood, I never knew I would have it near the sea.” It takes hours to ride from their city. But Alric brought her to the airport, they sat in the aeroplane and the next thing she knew, she was here.

“Since we are here. How about we stay here for a day?” She did not want to leave that world just after a meal. Would it be too much to ask if she wants to forget everything around her and want to live with him?

Alric watched her smiling and kissed her hair.

“I would return here anytime you want. But there is a meeting I must attend in the morning.” her eyes dimmed but she nodded. Yes! It would be too much for them.

As if sensing the shift in her mood, Alric sighed and pulled her in his embrace.

“What do you want to eat?” he asked again with a dotting smile.

Nora sighed and they both walked to the stalls. She barbecued lime and chili crayfish and garlic butter crabs with extra sauce.

They sat on the bench. Alric wore the gloves and started deshelling the fish for her. Nora watched him doing it meticulously. But not eating it and giving all of it to her.

“I do not care about being rich or poor as long as we can stay happy like this.” she whispered softly only for him to laugh.

“If we were not rich, we were still eating in a simple restaurant.” he shrugged and though the voice did not have any sarcasm, she knew the trust stings.

They were living a luxurious life and it was dependent on money.

“But we would have been happy there.” He watched her with a serene gaze and for some reason, she did not like it. It made her feel guilty.

“Perhaps, Nora! But I have no intention of letting my wealth go. And I will not accept it if you give it up for me.” she sighed and concentrated on eating instead.

How could life be so complex!

“Nora! You know why I stopped running away from my father?” Nora shook her head. They say it was because he had lost his mother and had nowhere to go afterwards.

“Because I wanted to take revenge on him and poverty did not offer me that privilege.” he shrugged as if he was only talking about the taste of the fish.

Her hands stopped and she looked at him but he was still meticulous cleaning the fish for her.

“He had killed my mother as if she was nothing but a discarded object. He had many affairs afterwards. Either the woman could not give birth or the kids were girls. He never stopped a woman from giving birth. He did not care what Ava thinks. As long as he could have another son contending for his properties, he would bring him home.

Ava offered to go there for mourning. But Mr Spencer refused. He said it did not matter. If he mourns for every child’s death, he has to mourn every year.” Nora paused. Stunned to respond.

Could there be parents like that! She hardly had any memories of her parents. But it was still a warm feeling when she remembered them. To think a father could be like him.

Alric spoke as if he was speaking about someone else. There was no emotion on his cold face.

“I can not let him go, Nora. Either I will make an empire bigger and stronger than him and destroy his empire then. Or.. I will take over his empire and destroy it internally. “I have seen many girls consoling their heartbroken partner. But you sure know how to do it in a unique way.” he shook his head looking speechless but Nora only smirked.

“Why? Are you heartbroken? How care can you break something that belongs to me in the first place.”

“Tch! Cheesy!” he scoffed but his eyes were filled with tenderness. “So, you sure about it right?”
