“Who is my lover?”

“…..” silence filled the room. Their confused faces mirrored each other. Nora was the first to close her eyes and took a deep breath.

“Alric!”

“She is not my lover, Nora. What are you even thinking.” Alric shook his head looking bemused.

Nora, who was cut in the middle, frowned as she looked at Debra. Debra had disgust on her face as she looked at Alric making Nora pause. This look! It indeed did not match a lover. But she could be acting like a green tea bitch. Nora didn’t let her guard down.

“Misunderstand me? But she didn’t even know me. I followed her to meet in the department store but she threw my card. I thought she was wary of strangers. I even called you specifically to inform her about my arrival.” her voice turned more and more accusatory, making Nora frown.

“Hey! Do you need to accuse him like that? He must be busy.”And besides, who wants to meet you? Nora could not help but feel hurt.

How could Alric be gullible enough to believe in this woman?

“Tch! Still taking his side? You should beat him for being a scoundrel and forcing you.” Debra shook her head.

“Anyways, what happened has happened. Let’s start with the introductions first.” the woman smiled but when she turned to look at Alric, her eyes narrowed coldly.

“Ah! Nora, this is Debra. She is my aunt. She had funded all my business ventures.”

“I do not care if she is you… wait aunt?” Nora looked confusedly at Alric and then at the woman again.

The woman laughed looking at Nora’s widened eyes.

“Were you expecting me to be your competitor? Is that why you were so hostile?” Debra had already guessed Nora’s thoughts. “But I am a decade older than him, how could I be his lover?” Debra looked at the mirror on the right and posed as if she was entertaining the idea in her mind.

“A decade! No way, you only look four to five years older to him.” Nora bit her lips before she continued. Did that even matter now?

“Ah! Thank you! Alric, you have such a sweetheart as your wife. Too bad! She is already pregnant.” ah! That. Nora bit her lipid as she watched disappointment and blame in Debra’s eyes.

Alric ignored Debra. He took Nora’s hand in his arms.

“I only gave you a chance. You have skills to grab it and develop an empire. And my investment grew a lot. So it was a win-win situation for me.” Debra explained as she sat down on the other side of Nora.

“It was hard to trust Alric but I am glad that I made this decision.” her eyes softened and only then did Nora notice. Debra did not have the warmth of a woman in love. But the warmth of motherly love. Her cheeks burnt with embarrassment. What was she even thinking?

“But if you hate Mr Spencer, why did you help him today?” Debra raised a brow, lolking impressed.

“She was standing there to watch the show.” Alric rolled his eyes and wrapped his arms around Nora pulling her closer.

“You are just my type.” Debra clapped. “Well, Alric asked me to help him so that he could let his guard down. Even if I had not helped him, he would have found a way to get rid of the inspection. But this way, we have left a favor on him. As long as we can show the right cards, he would be doomed.” Debra rubbed her hands with anticipation as if she could already imagine Mr SPencer losing everything.

Nora felt guilt rising. She didn’t even give a chance to Alric to explain everything properly. She only accused him in her heart.

“Alric, I am sorry that I came to this conclusion so easily. I should show more faith.” Nora felt awful. How could she be such a fool.

“It is alright, a pregnant woman is often insecure and ALric did not explain to you in advance. It is his mistake, you have nothing to feel guilty about. Do you want to rest for a while now?” the more Debra spoke, the more Nora felt guilty. She bit her lips hard.

“Aunt is right. Come, I will escort you to your room.” Alric stood up to help Nora but Nora did not move from her place.

“……” Debra choked on her saliva. Her eyes falling out of her sockets as she stared at Alric in disbelief.

“You have not done it!! And you were celebrating being a father!!?? Are you even fit to run a hospital?” she shook her head, finding it hard to digest their actions. “You both are crazy!” heart rose to Alric’s cheeks too.

But he looked at Nora earnestly.

“So you are not pregnant! Well, we can only try harder to make you then.”
