Chapter 391: In The Past!
“Why did you not ask for help from your brother? Those men must have belonged to him!” Nora frowned. She could not understand why Emma suffered this much.

“Eh! That is not how our world works. Since we have decided to stand on the opposite side, we can not force others to betray their master.” Nora shook her head. Though she did not agree with it, she knew that it meant Emma would not betray her too for her brother.

“I have called your brother. Even if you are standing on the opposite side, he is your only family.” EMma sighed as she did not know how to explain it to Nora. her brother would not come.

He was devoted to his work and would not care about blood anymore.

“Have you been here all day? Why don’t you go and rest now that I am better. I will have some food and rest too.” Emma explained. Nora shook her head. She pressed the bell and a nurse soon brought EMma’s food.

“I am fine! I have nothing to do much till evening. I will accompany you.” EMma wanted to refuse. She had already done enough as the boss by providing her a safe place to heal.

Nora adjusted her bed so that she could eat without sitting. Then she helped Emma in eating.

“Tsk! You look too strange when you serve me.” Emma grumbled as she was only fed porridge. She wanted to eat something tasty. But she knew Nora would not allow it.

Nora scoffed at Emma’s childish complaints and forced another spoon.

“You can eat whatever you want after discharge. For now, eating species might affect stitches.” Her tone was stern, making Emma pout. How time had passed as she forced Emma to finish the whole bowl.

The doctor came and checked Emma. and only when he confirmed that she was healing well and would be discharged in two days, did Nora stop glaring at the young girl.

“See! Even the doctor is convinced. What else do you want?” Nora looked away. She wiped her sweaty hands from her dress knowing she was pushing too much.

“Alright, rest. I will come tomorrow.” Emma sighed as she watched Nora leaving stiffly. A smile appeared on her lips. In their profession, it was common for them to die without being recognized. She was lucky that she had such a caring boss.

But the smile on her face vanished instantly and her face looked gloomy.

“You can come out now.” as if waiting for her command, a man came out of the curtains. He looked like he was part of the darkness.

“I was only following orders. Your boss had killed many young girls and even buried a few of them alive. But I am sure you already know that. So spare the effort and leave.” The man looked gloomy. He clenched his hand into a fist as he glared at Emma.

But Emma did not have any reaction. She watched her brother emotionlessly until he sighed.

“You should have informed me before entering my area.” Emma raised a brow and laughed.

“Why? Would you have protected me while going against your master?” her voice full of mcekry irked him and he gritted his teeth. “You can not stop me from completing the tasks for my boss and I can not stop you from being a criminal. We have chosen our paths, …. So why are you so irked? And what are you even doing here?”

“…..” ….. Did not know what he was doing here.

“Your master cares for you.” he had seen how Nora had cared for Emma the whole day. Emma’s eyes finally softened as she nodded.

….. Felt a strange uneasiness and burden on his chest.

“About the work, I will think about it again though I do not promise anything.” he whispered softly, “now get well soon.” he disappeared into the darkness just as he had emerged from it leaving Emma stunned for a long time.

“You are planning to leave?” she whispered with a look of relief. “But you never listened to me in the past even when I begged you.” What changed him suddenly? It could not be her injuries right.

Emma shook her head and closed her eyes to get rest instead.

Nora washed herself and changed her clothes. When she came out, Alric was already waiting for her in the hall.

He was surprised to see her all dressed up since he knew she had just returned.

“Nora..” Nora looked at the watch and frowned.

“We are already getting late. Why are you still lazing around? Hurry up.” she pulled Alric up from the sofa.

Alric looked at her exhausted face. How she had applied a thick layer of makeup to not look pale.

“You can rest. I will go and pick Ava.” he offered but Nora shook her head instantly.

“That will not do. This is my first chance to impress her. How could I let it go? ” She wrapped her arms around him and pulled her out of their house.

“Do you want to prove that your girlfriend is lazy already? Hmm?” Alric signed and held her hands tightly. He knew that she would not listen no matter what.

“I have sent men to investigate the matter. Do not worry.” he pressed the elevator button for her and she followed him.

“Actually… I have sent Emma to follow Benard. I have doubts that he had killed his wives. Actually..” She told him whole stories until his eyes were dark.

“And you were getting married to him!” Nora could see the burning anger in his eyes as if he wanted to burn the world. But instead of feeling scared, she felt protected. She leaned on his chest.

“Yes, but it is all in the past. I will find a way to bring the truth out. But I am afraid he has better security and he is aware of my plans now.”

“I will handle this matter. His truth would be out in two days.”
