Chapter 394: In The First Place
Nora took out the false ending of the drawer and opened the hidden section. There were three files and one tape recorder. It seems rather outdated. She had never seen anyone using it for a long time. There was an old phone beside it.
She picked up the recorder first and started it. The Jumbling sound of driving many vehicles and horns echoed in the room. Playing it in the background, she picked up the file.
It was the papers of their company. Nora opened it hastily and read them. It was made when the company was registered. They were in the name of her father, Mr Welsh and Sinclairs. She knew them from the past, but she had not seen them recently.
Her parents held the biggest share in the company with sixty percent capital while they both held fifteen percent each. Ten percent shares were given to her uncle David by her father.
The shares were transferred from his name to David in the next file. Due to the sudden death of her parents, all the properties should belong to her, Nora Stone. But since she was still a minor, David would be her guardian and provide her good education. He would be the caretaker of the business. He can manage it, but he could not sell any asset on Nora’s name without her permission.
And she could only permit it when she would be an adult. Apart from that, if shares needed to be transferred or the company needed funds in an emergency, he could access the accounts of his deceased brother. But for that, he had to take permission from his wife, Sophia, sister of Nora’s mother too. Since she is the second guardian of Nora Stone.
All the wealth would be transferred to Nora and she had the right to decide what she wanted to do with it. If she got married, her shares would be split into two parts and one part would be given to her husband as her dowry.
Apart from that, a monthly allowance of ten thousand dollars would be given to her every month by the trust he father had created. And…” Nora’s eyes widened. She stared at those papers dumbfounded.
Suddenly the flashes of the past started to play. She had seen Penny receiving ten thousand dollars every month. They have told her it was left by their grandfather in the trust.
Her father, William had taken all the amount at once to start the company while her uncle, David had started a trust in the name of his daughter. Penny was the beneficiary! That money was hers!
Her uncle had taken out a loan in the past. He had asked her to sign the papers too when she was already married to Benard. She had asked the reason but she was told that she still had some part in the house. Her uncle had even been kind enough to pay a large sum at that time for her daughter. Now that she thinks about it, Benard had taken it right away and she had not enjoyed a single penny out of it.
Benard must have known! Her hands tightened on the page as her desire to kill both of them started to fill her eyes. Her uncle was asleep! If he died due to excessive drinking, who would know?
Wiping the tears off her eyes, she flipped the pages. There was a list of properties on her name. It had an apartment in the Polis, a small farmhouse in Danyard town and a shop in Vintage Street. She had begged for a single coin from so many people while she was the owner of so much wealth.
Wiping her tears, She took pictures of all the papers and then placed them back. Only then did she notice that the recorder had stopped at some point. Frowning, she tapped it hard only for it to buzz a little and then went silent.
Sighing, Nora opened the battery section and realized they were dead. She looked around but did not find more batteries.
Frowning, she placed the recorder back and closed the drawer as it was. She placed all the documents at her place and left the room to find batteries.
But as she took the batteries from the tv remote and walked back to her uncle’s study, she saw a car from the window.
Nora paused and watched Penny talking to someone on the phone. She noticed her aunt’s car was already parked in front of the house. She ran to her room and closed the door.
Now that her room was beside Penny’s, she heard Penny returning to her room. The whole house was silent again. Nora stared at the fan with a lost look.
The sound of moving vehicles. Why would someone record it? Unless there was more to it. Someone was sitting in that moving car or..? It troubled her but she shook her head. She would find another day. This time, she would go prepared.
She took out her phone and checked the papers again. Her lips curled into a vicious smirk.
As long as she complained that the originals were lost and asked for a second copy from the registrar, she could sell all these properties at her whim.
“Hahaha! I am going to be much richer in his life, uncle.”

Sophia frowned when she saw the bar light open. When she went there, she found two glasses on the table. And a bottle of vintage wine. David would not offer it to anyone easily.
“Benard! They must be in the study!” she whispered and went to her husband’s study. She was about to close it when she found it empty. But she paused suddenly and walked to the desk of her husband. She frowned as she kneeled on the ground to pick up a stone.
“A pink rhinestone? They looked similar to the dress Nora was wearing in the morning. Her chest tightened and she opened the hidden drawers.
She was relieved to find nothing was moved from her place.
“But.. “What was she doing here in the first place?”
