“Breaking news: famous tycoon Chris Benard entangled in smuggling case!” Emma watched with curiosity as the reporter started.

“In a major crackdown on illegal trade, enforcement officials conducted a surprise raid at the warehouse of well-known business tycoon Chris Benard late last night. During the operation, authorities discovered a large quantity of smuggled goods, raising serious concerns about illegal activities linked to the company. “Are you not angry? We have done so much to ruin him but he got out of it just like that. I can not believe they are so biased!” Nora took another bite as she watched frowning Emma with a sly smile.

“Did you expect something else?” as if a cold jug of water had been splashed on her face, Emma felt her body shivering with cold and embarrassment.

She felt she was too naive when it comes to how the world runs even when her whole family had been part of shady deals from ages.

“You knew this from the start. Don’t you?” she asked in a mocking voice! Nora did not reply, but her gaze, glazed with a hint of guilt, said it all.

“So I was the only fool from the start to the end.” Emma slumped on her bed and covered her face with the duvet as if she was too embarrassed to face all of them.

“It is not that bad, you know!” Nora finally threw the apple on the bin and laughed. “He was suffering from financial loss. But now not only he has lost a lot of wealth. But he would pay a good amount in covering his marks. Do you think the manager would let it go just like that?” Emma slightly pulled the duvet and peeked at Nora as if she was looking for praise.

And when she noticed glint in her eyes, she sat up on the bed again. Her face beamed with excitement.

“So he is weak now. Huh? Step by step, will we make him weaker and control him?” Emma started to mumble with joy, making Nora sigh.

“But you should ask your brother. No, it would be better that you do not contact him carelessly. Since they would be doubting him already.” Emma froze. She had realized it later when she had called her brother and he did not pick up. He only left a similar message.

It was better that they did not communicate now. He was not trying to save himself. But he was trying to save her. And that hurts!

Chris pressed the bell again. He was already in a bad mood but they still did not give him a moment of peace. This was the third time he was knocking his own house’s door yet no one opened it.

Gritting his teeth, he pressed the password and used his fingerprint to open the door. The house was all dark and deathly silent. He frowned as he walked straight to his bedroom. It was empty. He opened the other two rooms but they were empty too. His eyes went darker as he stared at his study room. No one was allowed to go there. Even the housekeeper did not clean it without his permission.

Recently a lot of things were happening with him. Could the girl be another spy! As the thought crossed his mind, his eyes darkened further with the desire to kill. If she was trying to double cross him, then even hell would not be enough for her.

He took silent steps toward the door and held the knob tightly. He opened it with force only to see an empty room. He scanned the room with the eyes of a hawk. Any action, he would kill that girl. But even after searching the room twice, he did not find her.

A look of relief crossed his face as he walked out. He checked the whole house but he still could not find her.

“Could it be that she went out?” the thought irked him and he cursed. He pulled his tie with force and threw it on the floor and entered the washroom. But he paused in his tracks when he entered the washroom.

His face twitched as he found her tied on the basin. Her eyes were closed and her face was covered with tears. Her hand was bleeding a bit as if she had struggled with the cuff and injured herself. She had lost consciousness at some point.
