Chapter 409: Worth Watching
Aiden pushed the girl away. His irritated mood worsened at once.
The girl was still smiling and leaning on his chest. She was not prepared for the sudden push. She lost her balance and fell on the ground. Her eyes widened and filled with tears at once as she looked at him with pitiful eyes.
Aiden ignored her and walked forward. He could hear the laughter of other girls behind him. He did not need to turn to know that she was being mocked.
But he ignored them and walked to the counter. The bartender walked to him and offered him a drink.
“The most expensive cocktail. The one I can only find here.” the man nodded and missed a few alcohols. When he served the glass, a key was beneath it.
Aiden picked up the blue liquid. His own reflection was falling on the glass with a mix of other images behind him. He stared at it for three seconds, before drinking it in a single gulp.
He picked up the key from the tray after that and left the first floor. After climbing the stairs, he took left and opened the last door with the key.
The room was dark to its core. It was hard to see anything inside it even when a flicker of light fell inside from the opened door. Aiden closed it behind him and entered. It took him a second to adjust his eyes and notice the office chair was empty. He frowned and looked around but there was no movement in the room. He could not make out his figure.
Just when he took another step, he froze. He felt someone breathing on his neck.
Before the person could attack, Aiden raised his hands in the air.
“Chris Bernard had sent me. He needs to investigate the girl again.” the breathing on his neck stopped and he heard footsteps behind him. Before he knew, the room was brightly lit.
He had to cover his eyes for a second when he heard the shuffling of papers.
“I have told him to not take her on whim. This was the first time he had been so impatient. Tsk! Could it be that he did not find the third wife because no one is ready to marry him?” the man scorned as he took out a file and threw it on the table.
Aiden bit his lips but did not reply to the insult. He walked forward and picked up the file. He opened it and started reading. But a frown appeared on his lips when he found nothing special in the report.
A small businessman. He knew the name already. They were announced bankrupt because the suppliers backed out while they had taken a big contract. The company could not complete it and had to pay compensation. The man had taken a large loan. The girl was paid as compensation.
“It is strange. The file is too clean!” The man raised a brow when he heard Aiden.
“The girl is barely eighteen and has lived a sheltered life. What kind of stain could she have?” then he chuckled as if he remembered something, “Chris is the first man in her life. I am sure he had only taken her after knowing so. Why is he so restless now? The girl is too obedient to create trouble.”
“…” Aiden went silent even though he had no idea why the boss was suspecting the girl.
“Where are her parents now?” The man looked bored after not getting his reply.
“Mother is struggling in the hospital. Since he had taken the girl, he had to pay the due bills. Father is in prison for a year. He would be out soon but he would not dare to ask for his daughter. Hmm! Perhaps he would be happy that she had secured such a good man.” he rubbed his chin, deep in thought.
Aiden frowned. He did not have time for this man’s teasing. He picked up the file and left. But just as he had reached the door, the man laughed.
“Ah! Forgot to tell you, the girl had an elder sister but she had died half a decade ago.” Aiden frowned. Even this information seems to be of no help.
He opened the door and left. The man sitting on his chair smiled.
“You should at least ask for the name of the dead girl. Tsk! Still in a hurry to not pay attention to finer details.” The man leaned on his seat and laughed hard as if he was enjoying a private joke.

It was an hour earlier when Nora held Alric’s hand and went to the bar. They took a corner seat and no matter how many girls roamed around their table, Alric did not raise his head to look at them.
Noticing his lack of attention, the girls finally scattered to find a better customer.
“Your choice is getting weirder everyday.” Alric picked up the glass and drank a sip. Even if he had been to clubs and bars before, he had always taken a private room.
Now they were sitting in the open area where everyone was looking at them as if they were pieces of meat.
Nora did not mind the comment. She stared at the stage where two girls were performing pole dance. Their skimpy clothes and glittering makeup made them look ethereal.

Their swift and flexible body earned cheers from the customers with every sway and movement.
Nora watched Alric then. He did not even glance at the stage.
“I thought young men like you enjoy being here.” the man frowned at once and narrowed his eyes on her.
“Are you insulting me?” Nora laughed looking at his frowning face.
“No..” she shook her head. “I am complimenting you. Forget it, since you are not interested, let me enjoy the show.” she watched at the stage and then at the stair when her eyes glowed and a smirk appeared on her lips.
“Today, the show is worth watching.”
