“It has been a week! Yet the case is not losing its luster. The culprit had already confessed his crime. I do not understand why the hype!”The man wanted to throw someone on the screen. He looked around but could not find anything. Most of the expensive things were already broken and covering the ground.

Aiden looked at the mess Chris had created and sighed. These days it is getting harder to deal with him. He was always in a bad mood. Either hurting the young girl or breaking things around. But he could not blame him. Recently every decision he had taken had failed.

As if someone knew his next step. All the beverages their company made were launched just a week before them by Mojo Ltd. their export and import business was locked for investigation and their entertainment company had lost all the contracts.

No matter how much they train the celebrities, everyone was leaving after paying hefty compensation. Recently, they only have freshers. They were not trained enough to handle such special contracts.

“Sir, I have investigated the matter, the mayor’s election is approaching. They are using this case to hype their good deeds and secure more votes.” Chris gritted his teeth.

“And you want me to believe it?” Chris stood up and glared at Aiden. “They could have used anyone but they used me. This is someone’s trick.”

“Sir.. could it be Spencer’s?” as Aiden had expected, Chris’s face changed colors. He looked shocked and then cold.

“Could a man go this far for a woman? I have not even harmed her yet!” but you wanted to. Aiden wanted to protest but he just watched his boss calmly. If he knew Chris well, Chris would not let go of this doubt and confirm things.

“That son of a bitch! Contact him and fix a meeting.” Aiden smiled briefly before nodding with a grim face.

The room felt silent again. Chris watched as the news had changed on the screen. His mind swirls over the recent events. He found his phone and dialled Nora’s number.

The call rang for a long time but no one picked up. Chris gritted his teeth and called again. Nora only picked when the phone rang a third time.

“Hello!” but the voice did not come from her. It was a man’s voice and filled with impatience.

“Alric spencer?” Chris was stunned. The man was too petty to guard his women this much. Could it be that he kept her in closed confines and kept an eye on her every action.

“Chris Benard! What do you need?” The impatience and cold voice made Chris smirk. His mood improved for some reason.

“Your girlfriend had offered me a deal. I was thinking about it and wanted to meet her in private.” The last word held more emphasis. Chris smiled when the other side went silent at once.

“I am her legal guardian. She could not sign any contract in my absence.” came the curt reply after a long pause only for Chris to laugh.

“Is it? Then I will wait for one more week! Would she not be an adult then.” the more he teased, the more he felt better.

Would Nora suffer from Alric’s hands if he felt she was cheating on him.

“She had invited me already, so I will meet her then.” Chris replied in an affectionate tone even when he did not receive a response.

“Beep beep beep.” Chris stared at the phone and blinked and then laughed.

“Ha! Teach her a lesson for being such a tease now, Alric. Be a man for once.” he cursed and threw the phone on the sofa.

He laid there and stared at the ceiling.

“I have made this business from the start. It is not that easy to ruin me even if you hold all the power, Nora. But if it is really you, then a little punishment from Alric would not be enough.” he heard someone approaching and turned to see Nat standing at the stairs with a pale face.

She opened her mouth and closed it while holding the banister tightly as if she was afraid. A frown appeared on his lips instantly. No one could let him stay happy even for once.

“What is it?” His voice was laced with anger and impatience. The young girl cowered at once.

“I… I did not have my periods this month.” she spoke in a low voice. “I did not use the after pill since I did not have it anymore and no one bought it for me.” The man leaped from the sofa with such strength that she took a step back instantly and covered her face with her hands.

Chris watched the scared girl intently.

“You think you are pregnant with my child?” Nat did not know his emotions from his cold voice but she could only nod slightly.

“I… I want to go to the hospital or need a pregnancy test for confirmation. It might be late periods.” she added, as if she was afraid that he would beat her for lying later if she was not pregnant.

The man paused in his tracks lost in thought. She blinked and stared at him again when he chuckled.

“Then we should confirm it first. Go and get ready, we are going to the hospital. Pray that you are pregnant, Nat. I will give you a reward if you provide me with a child.”
