Nora watched his face in silence as the man took her out of their house in her pajamas. She had thought he would take her to his room so that he would.. She shook her head. Her mind was filthy and full of sins.

She watched him holding tightly until he reached his car. He placed her on the passenger seat and closed the door. She watched him moving to the driver seat.

“Where are we going!?” she asked, looking at his clothes. He was still wearing a suit while she was dressed in pajamas with a strange duck print all over. “I am not dressed properly. Give me five minutes.”

But he did not reply to her. He only learned toward her. Nora paused. His hot breaths caressing her face suddenly. He stared into those dark eyes, raised a brow and then smirked before pulling her belt and securing it around her. She felt her own breath hot against his skin as he drew back. She was sure he was going to kiss her. But he did not! She looked at him confused.

“Where are we going?” she asked again but he did not reply. As if his whole focus was on driving and he could not hear her anymore.

She looked around the road trying to guess where they were going but she had no idea. So she looked at him again. His eyes looked exhausted and the dark circles had increased.

Her eyes dimmed at those thoughts.

“I am worrying you a lot these days.” she sighed. “Alric, there are a few things I can not explain to you. I…” Alric finally turned to look at her.

His eyes searched for something on her face and he smiled.

“It only means that you do not trust me enough. Or there is nothing one could not say to a partner. I have even heard women sharing about how much blood they have lost in their periods and describing the flow of blood in such detail.” Nora cringed at that thought. Who would discuss such things?!

He chuckled looking at her wrinkled nose.

“But I am sure periods are not things you are worried about.” at least he was talking to her even when he was babbling nonsense. Now that he was smiling, he did not look that infuriated too.

Nora slowly leaned on her seat.

“I am just exhausted with all the work. It had been months since Natalie had been there. Yet Benard is standing tall. He is stealing my project now.” Alric raised a brow, a small amused smile on his face.

“I thought you went to show your new idea only to let him steal it! Now you are complaining that he stole it?” Nora shook her head lightly. She didn’t even know that he knew. She had not shared her plan yet.

“You already know what he had in his mind. And just when he would be sure that he was going to win and launch his product, you would launch it before him.” he announced as if he was the one who had planned it. “This would be the second time you knew what he was going to do already. As if you have been there, you have seen him planning it and executing it. As if you have known him for a decade. You are sure how he thinks, acts and reacts.” he spoke in a low voice taking many pauses so that his words could sink in her mind.

He knew he was overstepping. He had decided that he would ignore all this. It was all her past. She was with him now and all that matters. But he realized lately, that was not the case. She was entangled in her past.

It was holding her so strongly that she could not live in her present. So, he had to break those chains and invade her privacy even if he had to fight for it.

He did not continue but stared at her intently. Nora shifted in her seat. She was not a fool to not know why he was telling her all that! Why now!

She opened her mouth to explain but he only chuckled before she could speak.

“Yes, I believe that you are just that smart and perceptive when it comes to business or men. But alas, that was not the case, you never know what i am planning perfectly. You guess a bit, yes! But that was all to it. But when it comes to Chris Benard, you even know the layout of his house without being told. It could not be a simple perception or smartness.” he shook his head lightly. “I am surprised that you take me so gullible, Nora. I must have looked like a fool since I love you and do not question your intentions enough.” Alric sighed as he spoke.

There were no emotions on his face except a little disappointment but Nora knew it was much more than that. Alric was not only disappointed but was at the end of his patience.

She knew he was doubtful of her. But he never asked her anything and she somehow took it for granted. Nora shook her head, the pain rising in her chest again.

“Few truths are hard to believe. I am sure you have investigated me enough to know I had never any connection with Chris Benard.” she took a deep breath as just the mention of his name burnt her lips.

Alric suddenly paused the car. The impact jerked her a bit and she looked at him in confusion. He was staring at her with disappointment now. The raw look in his eyes stunned her.

“I am not that weak nora! I have only investigated you once when I have chosen you to follow Alex. After that, I have never investigated you. Especially when you entered my life, my house. I will never ask others to know about you! I would wait for you to open your heart and tell me.”
