Chapter 447: Who Drugged Her!
“Who could do this?” Max had wrapped bandages on all her wounds and stitched her arms. Nora was now leaning on the recliner with her eyes closed but he knew she was not sleeping.

Alric was sitting on the other side with his gaze so dark and killing intent overflowing from him.

“Many!” Nora whispered with a chuckle. “The list is never ending. It could be my lost uncle, my sister’s lackeys, Benard’s men or his father’s!” she pointed at Alric with her chin.

Max was stunned by the long list. But most of them were either her family or his!

Alric stiffened at the last name but shook his head.

“He would not do it.” he did not specify but Nora knew he was talking about his father. “Mother told him that you have saved Alex. and he is keeping a watch on your business dealings. He told Ava that you are a good seedling. As long as you let go of your emotions, you could be trained to be much better.” Nora sneered. She did not want to be trained to lose her emotions.

Only the thought of revenge and her hatred had brought her here. She could not let it go. But she went in deep thought and sighed,

“Did you get any information about my uncle?” Alric felt guilt rising to his chest and did not reply. Nora did not need the reply at this point. “The coward must have left the country already. So, it couldn’t be him too.” she sighed! How she wanted her uncle to make this mistake so that she could send him to his daughter.

“Penny..”

“Your sister is not allowed to meet anyone. I have made sure that she shares her cell with most notorious criminals and often gets beaten. She is hardly saving her life. She neither had energy or resources to plan it. Someone with enough power to tamper the cameras, hire a professional with luxury cars and..” he looked at her, “intention to only warn you.” Max furrowed his brows. It did not look like the person only had intention to hurt her.

“If she had been any slower!” Max intervened only to get a sigh from Nora.

“They knew I would not be slower. They even knew I would jump on my left instead of right.” That was why the glass shards were only there in the whole parking lot.

Max felt frustrated just thinking about it. How could they accept it so easily?

“When did you check the cameras?” he asked Alric.

“I do not need to check it.” Alric sighed, suppressing his anger and when he opened his eyes again, he looked much calmer. He smiled at Nora as he rubbed her cheeks softly. “Would you like to go home now?” Nora smiled and nodded back but Max frowned.

“If it is dangerous outside, you can stay here for the night. I have many spare rooms.” he offered with a frown but Alric shook his head.

“They only wanted to warn her Max! No one would attack us now.” he seemed too sure about it. Could it be that he was hiding something? Max looked at Alric with a probing gaze.

But Alric ignored him now. He held Nora in his arms gently. As if he was afraid that a minor pressure would break her apart.

As they started walking toward the door, Max cursed and ran to open the door for him. Yet he looked so reluctant.

“Alric!” the man sighed when Alric gave him a determined gaze.

“I will see you in the morning.” Max wanted to refuse. But he could only nod as the couple left in their car.

He went to his kitchen and took out cans of beer from the fridge. He sat on the recliner where Nora was sitting earlier and drank from one. The can was empty in a minute and replaced by another. He sat there and drank the cans one by one until all were empty. Then he threw them on the table. His eyes seem lost.

The house that had looked empty and dark so far was lit suddenly. Max frowned when a woman dressed only in a lacy nightgown that barely covered anything. She stared at the empty cans of beer with a look of disapproval as she folded her hands in front of her chest and glared at Max who reeked of alcohol now.

The man had his eyes closed. She did not know it was because of her or because of the sudden brightness. Neither did she care!

“Where did you go without informing me?” She walked closer and stood in front of him with a dark face. “Max! You and I have already taken that step. If you are ignoring me now or planning to dump me, then I will not let you. You have to marry me now.” she hissed in a sharp voice making Max flinch.

He had always been a controlled man. Even when he had dated before because of loneliness or persuasion of his staff, he had never crossed the line and he was not even sure about this girl. He was sure that something was wrong with that night.

But he had already confirmed there were no drugs in his system.

“Max!” her voice softened and she walked closer and sat on the edge of the recliner. He leaned in to touch him but he stood up suddenly.

“It is late at night. Since you are already here, go and rest. I will talk to you in the morning.” the girl gritted her teeth and scowled at Max. She stood up and blocked his way before he could leave.

“Max! Do you think you can run away with me just because you want to! I am telling you, if you do not marry me, I will ruin your reputation. I will tell the world that you have raped me.” yes! That was right. No drug was found in his system, but she was heavily drugged that night that make it a rape!
