Chapter 46: Was She Pregnant?

Before Nora returned to the dormitory, Penny had a humble smile on her face as her classmates consoled her.

“No one will attack you with your sister. Though I felt she had talent. If she wanted to waste it then let her do it. Why are you blaming yourself for her behavior?” Lisa spoke in a soft manner. Linda nodded too but her face had a hint of doubt.

“But I do not understand why she would do it? If she was going to the doctor. She would get permission easily.” Penny stiffened and then shook her head, unshed tears started to fill her eyes again.

“I do not know. First she had been strangled by her friends and now this. I do not know who she is meeting these days and why she needs to visit the doctor at night! She is just seventeen. How could she make such a big mistake?” Penny bit her lips as her eyes widened. She looked at her friends petrified.

“I… I did not say anything. You did not hear anything. My sister is still a virgin.” if one had doubts before. This line cleared it all. Could it be that Nora had already been in a relationship and got pregnant by it?

Her boyfriend strangled her because she was pregnant and now she was trying to get rid of the child. Wild thoughts started to fill their minds. They gasped and covered their mouth to stop themselves from screaming.

They were not from rich families like others. Both Lisa and Linda were from a middle class family. They were here through scholarships. So, they value study too much.

A girl with such a messy lifestyle would leave a bad influence for them.

“Even if she is good at studies. I do not want to share the room with her.” Linda rubbed her forehead. That was the moment when the door of the dorm opened and Nora walked in.

She had not heard the rest but she had clearly heard Linda.

The moment Penny saw her returning again, her tiny face as large as a palm turned pale suddenly. Moments ago, her eyes were glowing with satisfaction. But now, they have dimmed a bit.

Linda felt embarrassed too. Moment ago, she was planning to ask for help from Nora and now. She bowed her head and stared at her feet.

Lisa noticed and raised her brows at Nora, she wanted to be reasonable before coming to any conclusion.

“Why did you not inform Miss Megan that you are going to the doctor? No, forget about it. Why did you meet the doctor at night and that also alone? You could have taken Penny or your aunt with you.” she asked in a listening tone. As if she wanted to give Nora a chance.

Nora noticed how Penny looked paler. Her face was stained with tears and realized a story had already been cooked.

“I have classes in the morning and I do not want to drag others in my troubles. As far as informing the warden, I have done it. But a bitch tore the page from her desk for fun. That ugly looking girl was so afraid that she would horrify others with her looks that she had covered her whole face with a cloth.” Nora shook her head. Her face looked mortified just by imagining the face of the girl.

Penny’s eyes narrowed with anger.

“You! Who are you calling ugly?”

“…” silence filled the room. Everyone looked at Penny.

“I mean. Who will do that? You are just cooking up a story.” Penny bit her lips and dug her nails into her skin to force tears again, “Nora i know that things are not going well for you. But you can always rely on your family. Speaking lies left and right would not help you in the long run. Mother had invited both of us at home this weekend. Come with me, I will plead with mom not to scold you.” she took a step closer to hold Nora’s hands.

There was no way that she would let Nora run amok and ruin the image she had made after such hard work.

Nora looked at the audience and sighed. She already wanted to push Penny away. But now was not the time. She still needed to visit them to steal a few things from the house. She needed their trust for that.

“Penny, I do not know who is spreading rumors about me. But I have done nothing wrong. I just went to the doctor because the poison I was fed still had some remnants. They just wanted to make sure that my body is not suffering because of it. Here, i have the reports.” She took out the file and showed it to everyone.

Linda was the first to take it. Penny glared at the girl. She used to be so cold to Nora. But now..

“It said that someone injected you with poisons and then you have been strangled. A police case is also registered. But why did they do it?” Everyone waited for Nora to reply. But Nora did not say a word. She only stared at Penny as if waiting for her to explain the situation.

Penny closed her eyes and sighed.

“It is better that we do not discuss it anymore. In the end, you are my sister and you will always be one. As long as you are ready to come home with me, I will forget about this case.” Penny looked at Nora with a warning glance as if she was giving Nora a last chance to mend her ways.

Hearing her, everyone would believe that Nora had done something despicable and had made enemies. Nora’s lips curled into a smile. Penny was not as foolish as she had thought.

“Do not worry sister, I will come with you. I will go to the police station and take the case back too. I know my aunt and uncle are worried about it. It must have been hard for the aunt.”
