Chapter 468: Smiling Eyes!
Nat stared at the empty house and Max was ready for the explanation.
“Actually…”
“Where do I need to start?” Max blinked and looked at her strangely. Before smiling. He took the lead and she followed him closely while looking around.
The house was empty. It did not even have a sofa in the large hall. Only two chairs were placed randomly. No decoration, nothing. The bare empty walls look like he had just purchased the house in the morning.
Yet one could see the mess of dishes in the kitchen proving that he had lived here. The house really needs someone. not to take care of it, but to make it alive and fill it.
He reached two adjacent rooms and opened the left door. “You can start with this room. Clean it and decorate it.” Nat raised a brow and scanned the room.
The room had a large bed with a side table full of necessities and a large closet on the other side. That was it.
“What should I use to decorate it? I did not see anything in the hall or here either.” She circled the room with a grim face to make sure she did not miss anything. That only made his cheeks flushed.
“You can make a list. We can go together and buy those things or I will buy them for you.” for her! Mac blushed further when she raised a brow.
“I thought I was the only housekeeper. I did not know that I am working as a designer now, Mr Sullivan?” Max coughed. It had been ages since someone called him that way at home.
“Then I will..”
“It is alright, I will do that.” she nodded. “Where will I live?” She wanted to sit and stretch her legs before cooking. That was the only thing she could do without asking for shopping. Hope so!
“Ah! This is your room only.” he explained and went to open the closet. It was filled with a few clothes but all were new. And the attached bathroom had already toilers a woman needed. “You can check them too and tell me if you require anything.” Nat nodded with a small smile on her face.
The man was clumsy and did not know how to take care of himself. Yet he had tried to take care of her.
“Thank you!” Max nodded, looking away. When he walked out, she surprised him.
“I thought you wanted to take a rest.” his brows furrowed. “Do you need something?”
“I want to see your room and kitchen first.” Max frowned, but looked at her curious face. He only nodded and opened the right door.
If her room was bare minimum, this was the worst! There was only a bed. The clothes were hung on the door and a few things were packed in a hurry and left on the floor in bags.
“The room was shifted last night? That was your room right?” She had noticed many hangers without clothes there but did not pay much attention to them..
“That is not the case!” he spoke abruptly. “I did not get time to buy furniture. I will go soon.” he groaned. He knew his house was a mess. “I spend most of the time in the hospital so I do not need many things. I only go to sleep and I have a bed here. Sometimes I eat so that the kitchen is better.” Nat shook her head and sighed.
“I was not scolding you, Mr sullivan.” her voice was soft and low. It felt intimate in the closed room. Max ignored it and walked out.
“That is the kitchen. The fridge had fresh vegetables and fruits and ample groceries but if you still need something..”
“I will give you the list!” Nat rolled her eyes as she picked up the dirty dishes and put them in the sink.
Max was embarrassed. He always cleans them just after finishing dinner.
“I received an emergency call last night. A man had fallen from the balcony and…” Nat laughed softly and shook her head.
Why did it feel like a teacher was scolding her student and receiving an excuse for a late assignment?
“I will finish them. Do not worry. Would you like to eat dinner first?” Max never knew he would be so embarrassed bringing her home. He looked around the mess. He really got the call last night and only returned home now.
“I will cook tonight. You can start from tomorrow. Go and rest for now.”He opened the fridge and took out mushrooms and potatoes.
But nat did not leave. She picked up the sponge and cleaned the kitchen island first and then she took out the pot and pan.

“With those mushrooms, we can have rice or pasta?” Max wanted to refuse again but he noticed her lively eyes and nodded.
It had been a long time since he had noticed life in her eyes. It would not be bad to let her cook.
“Pasta would be perfect, shall I cut the vegetables for you?” Nat nodded. She placed the water to boil and Max started cutting the vegetables. He guided her where the things were.
In half an hour, he started telling her about the recent surgery he had performed. She would laugh occasionally as she stirred the pasta or while making sauce.
He shook his head and commented on things. He did not notice the curl of his lips and the ease of his eyes.
Nat stood on her toes to reach the spices but still could not get a good hold of it. Max stood behind her and picked up the bottle for her. Nat paused. She raised her head and looked at him. Only then did he realize he was too close. He took a step back instinctively and Nat looked away.
The air in the kitchen changed. Max cursed! Why was he so comfortable around her that he did not realize what he was doing?
“If you do need more help, I would go and take a bath first.”
