Chapter 47: My Next Mistake

“I never knew the hospital would file a case against them.” Nora gave an exhausted sigh. Her hands instinctively rubbed the strangling mark on her neck as if she was reliving that tormenting moment again.

“……” Silence filled the room. Everyone looked at her. Even if she had not explained herself. Her clear eyes did not show any guilt of the pain she was suffering. And why did the hospital file a case against her uncle and aunt?

Even a fool can reply at that moment. But they have met Penny’s family. Her mother was a kind and sweet lady and her father was a gentleman who hardly spoke but paid so much attention to his daughter.

Can such good people be so cruel to their own niece?

Everyone looked at Nora with a conflicted gaze. She did not stand there to explain further. But she walked to her bunk bed and laid on the bed.

“There is only half an hour left for the class. I want to lie down for five minutes before getting ready.” Her gloomy voice left them with strange sadness too. Without realizing, they felt bad for her.

Penny noticed their softening eyes and her eyes narrowed. This Nora! She is getting out of control day by day. How could she spout such nonsense in front of others? And how could they believe her when she was neither rich nor intelligent.

No, Nora was nothing. And she would teach that to her.

“She is right. We need to get ready for our classes.” Penny was the first to stand up. She picked up her uniform and went to take a bath. Others nodded and followed reluctantly.

Soon the room went back to normal. Everyone got ready in their uniform when Nora stood up again. Her eyes were bloodshot but her face did not have a hint of what happened earlier. It looked like she was hiding her pain.

They all looked at her with pity in their eyes.

“I will wait for her. You all can go to your classes.” Penny offered as she tied her hair in a ponytail.

“That is not needed, you all can leave.” Nora replied from the other corner as she took out her uniform from her closet. But the moment she opened it, it was full of stains of ink.

Her eyes narrowed at the pocket where a broken pen was hiding.

“Oh Nora! You forgot to take out the pen from the pocket?” Penny sighed as if she was sealing with a toddler. “Now you have ruined the whole uniform.” her voice was not blaming so Nora could not reply. But she could notice the joy in Penny’s eyes.

“But you must have another right?” Lisa was the one to interfere. Penny lowered her head. Hiding the rage in her eyes. Lisa! She was going to remember it.

Nora did not need to look at the uniform to know its condition. But she still wanted to show others. With a deep breath, she turned and rummaged through her clothes and took out the other uniform but it was torn. Its stitching had come close and a big hole was there.

“You can not wear any of them. How can you be so careless.” Penny shook her head. “How about you wear mine?” she did not wait for Nora to reply as she walked to her closet to take her second uniform but it was in the laundry basket. “Oh god! I have not done my laundry either.” she sighed with an exaggerated worried look on her face.

Lisa was too slim, almost malnourished and short. Her uniform would not fit Nora. and Linda was too tall, almost a giant. Her uniform would not fight either.

They all looked worried now.

“It is alright. You all can go and attend your classes.” Nora waved her hands with a sigh. They felt awkward to leave her alone but they were not close and it was Nora’s carelessness that she was in such a mess.

Lisa was the first to stand up. “Thank you for understanding. There is a science test and I do not want to miss it and get bad grades later.”

Linda looked reluctant but hearing about the marks, she left too. Penny was the last to stand up. Now that there were no spectators, she was not acting to be kind.

She looked at Nora coldy.

“You are speaking way too much. Hold your tongue or I will cut it myself. This uniform was just a lesson so that you remember your position.” folding her hands around his chest, Penny looked at Nora condescendingly. “And this weekend, you will return home. After that, you will never return to the dormitory or I will make sure that you regret it. Did you get it?” she did not wait for Nora to reply as she left the room.

Nora raised her head. The face shivering with fear for Penny was actually shaking because it was hard to control the laughter. Nora took out her phone clocked on the play button showing on the screen.

“This weekend.. Get it?” the same words started to echo in the room again. Nora sighed softly, shaking her head.

“Oh Penny! You are such a fool. I wonder why I was so scared of all of you in my past life when you do not have a single decent trap to hurt me.” Nora looked at the torn uniform and then took out a stapler from her bag.

She started to use staple pins to cover the torn part and then she used the sports jacket to cover her top from it. Her whole uniform was hidden inside the sports jacket. With a smile on her face, she checked herself in the mirror and left the room.

Her eyes glinted with a treacherous ray of light.

“Penny, I can already imagine your next plan to hurt me. And how you fail in it and look miserable in the end.”
