Chapter 501: Set Him Free!
“How many times would it happen!” Eva’s voice cracked as she screamed, her hands trembling as she clutched the report in her fingers. It had just arrived. When she had received the phone call, she had refused to believe it. But Alric still asked her to come and give it to her.

Alex stood behind her, jaw clenched, one hand on her shoulder in support—though he too was seething. He could not believe this. For years, he had blamed Alric for ruining their perfect family when the fault lies in his father. As a child, he did not want to see it. His father was his hero. But now, even a rutting animal was better than him.

“Why don’t you just give him a divorce? I am sure I can find a job after university. You have enough savings for the time being. Or…” he looked hesitating at Alric, who stiffened under his gaze. “Or you can live with Alric. I am sure br…brother will take good care of you.” Alric froze. His eyes widened as he stared at Alex as if he was looking at him for the first time.

“Would you not?” when Alex did not receive a reply, he could only endure and continue. His ears burned red but he had come too far to back away.

Alric finally nodded, as if the words just sank in.

“It is our home.” he responded in a hoarse voice. Ava did not need to turn to know that he wanted to cry.

She sighed, looking exhausted.

“You are right, I thought things would change with time. But.. I can not wait for it anymore.” Alex was surprised. Though he had suggested divorce, he was sure Ava would never accept it.

In the past, he had suggested it so many times but she always scolded him. Just how much these recent popping of kids had worn her out!

“I will make the preparations.” Alric walked closer and placed his hand on her other shoulder. Ava closed her eyes, a tear escaping her lips when the door creaked open.

Nora stepped inside, gently guiding Evelyn behind her. Nora’s eyes scanned the room, immediately taking in Ava’s devastated figure

Without a word, Nora crossed the room and knelt beside Ava, wrapping her arms around her future mother-in-law with care. “It’s alright, Ava. I’m here,” she whispered. “Let’s go to our room for a bit, please?”

Ava nodded numbly, allowing Nora to lead her away. She didn’t look back, but Alex and Alric both watched until the door closed behind them.

That left Evelyn standing alone with the two brothers. The silence grew thick, pressing in on her.

Evelyn lowered her head, her hands nervously twisting in front of her. “I… I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude.”

Alex’s gaze was sharp, and Alric’s expression unreadable. For a moment, neither of them spoke.

“Do you want to rest?” Alric asked but Evelyn shook her head at once.

“I have taken a nap in her office.” he nodded, another awkward silence felt.

“You can not stay here.” Alric told her in a calm voice but it stunned her. Nora had told her that she would stay here and train herself. But she should have expected this!

“I understand.” she nodded when he frowned.

“I have arranged an apartment for you and a guard. If you need anything you can contact Nora or me. This is your new phone. Though I have arranged everything in your new house. If you still need anything you can tell me now.” Evelyn blinked as she stared at the extended card and keys. Her eyes burnt but she shook her head.

“I can not take it. I have already been a burden.”

“And leaving you would free us from our burden?” Alex sneered. “Since you were so perceptive, why did you even come to us? You could have stayed hidden.” his voice was full of venom as if he could not wait for her to disappear.

Evelyn flinched stunned.

Nora returned at that point, she went and hugged Alex. The boy looked away but did not push her.

“Ava will live here with me, for the time being. Are you really returning abroad?” Alex had already applied for many universities there. Since he did not want to face his father often. But now..

“I will look for a university here.” he sighed and rubbed his neck. “Can you arrange dinner in my room? I am not in the mood to eat together.” she nodded as she patted his shoulders.

He left sighing aloud.

“Nora..”

“I know.” she looked at Evelyn. “I will see you in the office tomorrow. You are working with me. Louis is your roommate and your guard. She will take care of your needs.” Evelny left with hurried steps as if she could not breath there.

Alric pulled her into his arms. “You hugged everyone. But you forgot me.” he whined. “She is broken this time.” Nora nodded. She couldn’t even imagine. If Alric would betray her and have a child with someone else. She would kill both of them by mixing poison in the food.

“She will be better. That is all we can hope for.” Alric nodded, inhaling her scent. Finally his nerves were calming down.

“What did you offer to him?” Nora sighed and leaned closer.

“I set him free from my revenge.” Alric frowned instantly, not liking the idea. A strange nameless sister was not worth giving her revenge. What if Nora felt remorse later.

He could not see Nora sitting like a corpse ever. If needed, he would kill Evelyn with his own hands.

“That is not worth it. I will arrange someone to burn his car.” he stared and Nora nodded.

“I have only promised that I will set him free.” Alric paused and then his eyes sparkled.

“I knew my love would never bear the loss.” he grinned and took her into his arms again. “Consider it done. He would regret using blood to stop you.”
