Chapter 55: Broke Her Hands
He raised a brow but waved his hands to ask her to continue. Nora bit her lips and sat on the corner of the bed. Her eyes looked at the distance. She had promised herself that she was not going to trust anyone in this life.
She had made enough mistakes in her past life. She would not look for love too. She had only suffered because she was waiting for love from her so-called family to save her loved daughter. Her eyes closed, her nails dug deep into her skin.
Alex stared at her every expression and action with narrowed eyes. His chest filled with strange frustration. Why did he even care about her? He had only taken her because she looked pitiful. But now..
“Nora..” censured in his voice that made her glare at him.
“What is it? Why do you know about it? Have I ever asked why you ignore your own family? Why do you hide from them? Everyone has their own skeleton in their closets. And one had to carry those skeletons themselves.” without waiting for his reply, she ran out of the room.
When she came out, she noticed a few boys standing in the lobby. If she crossed them, they would know she was in a man’s room way past the meeting hours. Then she could never get rid of the rumors.
She cursed Alex in her heart as she bit her lips and took a step back. It was a long lobby with twenty rooms on both sides. At one end, there were common sports rooms and the other end led to a garden, if only she could walk there without. Suddenly, she turned, her hands ready to attack another person but paused when she noticed it was only Alex.
He looked much calmer now. He was holding a hoodie in his hands. “Wear it.” The words were full of calm storms. She hesitated only for a second before taking it and lowering her head.
Alex walked to the other side and shut all the lights of the lobby.
“Hey who did that?” the group of boys who were chatting leisurely groaned and complained.
“I did!” Alex announced in a dominating voice. “I was trying to sleep but the light coming from the windows did not let me.” while he shouted toward the boys. He signaled her from the other hand.
Inhaling a deep breath, she ran to the other hand of the lobby. She heard some laughter and some jokes but she did not pay them any head.
“Foolish alex! How could he be so careless and foolish.” she complained in her heart again as she took hurried steps. Luckily it was late at night so most of the rooms were closed. But just as she was at the end of the corridor, she heard the door to her left opening.
A young boy was coming out and she ran faster, afraid that he would notice her. Once at the garden, she hid closer to the dark wall and leaned on it to catch her breath.
“What shall i do now?” she cursed. Though she had come to the garden to hide herself. The girls’ dorm was on the completely opposite side. Her eyes assessed the long willow trees near the wall and then the size of the wall. She had never done it in the past. But she had seen young men and women doing it. Nora bit her lips and took out her phone.

Nora glanced around to make sure no one was watching. She took a deep breath and shoved her phone back into her pocket, determination setting in her eyes. She sprinted towards the closest willow tree, her footsteps muffled by the soft grass beneath her.
The willow’s branches swayed gently in the breeze, creating a whispering sound that seemed to urge her on. She reached the tree and placed her hands on its rough bark, the texture grounding her. Taking a step back, she gauged the distance and then, with a burst of energy, she ran and leapt, grabbing hold of a low-hanging branch.
The branch bent slightly under her weight, but it held firm. She pulled herself up, her muscles straining with the effort. Once she was perched securely on the branch, she took a moment to catch her breath. The wall was still a few feet away, but from this vantage point, it seemed more surmountable.
Nora shifted her position, balancing carefully as she stood on the branch. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest. With a deep breath, she pushed off the branch and jumped towards the wall, her hands reaching out to grasp the top.
Her fingers barely caught the edge, and for a terrifying moment, she dangled precariously. Summoning all her strength, she pulled herself up, her arms burning with the effort. Inch by inch, she climbed until she was able to swing one leg over the wall and then the other. She sat atop the wall, breathing heavily, a sense of triumph washing over her.
But as she thought of jumping, the height was way too much.
“You can not be serious.” she heard Alex behind her, and her anger rose. She did not turn back but jumped at once. Falling on my left hand at once. She winced because she knew there was no way her bone was intact.
With a painful effort she took out her phone but the screen was crushed and the touch did not work well. she could see the numbers, but they were not presing easily when suddenly the call was connected.
“I have met with an accident. Send some to fetch me at the backside of the boys Dormitory.”
