Chapter 56: A Golden Chance

Alric was in his personal condo which only had one room because he had styled and changed other rooms for different uses. Like the one he was using was a gym. He was using a crunch chair. Covered in sweat with his rough breathing. He was pulling the machine too hard as if he was fighting with it. He was about to pull once more when his phone started to ring.

He would have ignored it at once, if it was not for the special tune he had set for emergency callers. The call was connected automatically before he could press any button.

His breathing was still rough because of the hours he was exercising.

“I have met with an accident. Send some to fetch me at the backside of the boys Dormitory.” her voice was breaking as if she was enduring so much brain that his hands paused on the machine.

“What about Alex?” He stood up at once. His hands reached for his shirt but the cursed woman had already cut the call.

“That damn girl!” he gritted his teeth. He did not call for any of his assistants or other staff or their bodyguards.

The location she mentioned, near the boys’ dormitory, sent a chill down his spine. Alex… his mind swirled with all the worst possibilities. Panic rising, he sprinted to the lift, his heart pounding. He drove with reckless abandon, the car tearing through the streets at eighty miles per hour. Horns blared, and other cars swerved to avoid him, but he barely noticed. His mind was a whirlwind of anxiety and fear, each second feeling like an eternity as he raced to reach her.

But when he reached there, she was all alone. Leaning on the tree. It took him a second to even find her in the dark. He ran to her only to notice that her pants were torn badly and her leg was bleeding from many small injuries. She was holding her hand and her breathing was rough.

“What happened to you?” he asked as he took her in his arms and carried her to the car. “Alex is involved?” his eyes searched the surroundings again though he was sure there was no other soul.

“He is safe in his room. I am sorry I could not reply to you on the phone, my mobile!” She took out another hand and showed him the crushed thing. “It was a miracle that the first call was connected to you.”

“So you were not calling me?” he asked back, surprised and a bit irritated. “Ha! And here I came running for you.”

She eyed him as if she was dealing with a tantrum throwing child. Is that the thing with both brothers? They like being the knight in shining armor and feel bad when they do not get the limelight for doing it.

“Is that why you run such a large trust?” she talked more to herself than asking him.

He frowned not understanding the connection but when she gasped in pain again. He ignored asking her for more questions and drove to the hospital.

Penny, petrified by what happened, did not return alone in the room. Her face was red with rage and she knew if went there, she would create a scene which would be bad for her image.

“Control Penny, you have to prove that Nora is in the wrong while you..” she inhaled a deep breath and drove for her house without taking permission from the warden.

After all, she was sure that the warden would never complain about her. It had been years like that.

The moment she reached the house, her anger knew no bounds.

“Mother, do you know what the bitch did this time?” she shouted as she searched for the mother in the house. but paused at the door of the dining hall when she noticed three guests sitting in the chairs.

They all looked at her judgemental looks.

“She refused to take the due shots. The veterinarian convinced me for hours. But I guess you are busy with my foolish story.” she smiled elegantly. And then nodded at the guests who seemed to not care about her words anymore.

Her eyes settled on Benard who looked back at her with a twinkle in her eyes.

“Darling, your mother is not here for the night. She was not feeling well so she had gone out with her friends. The plan was made suddenly.” he said with a meaningful look as he held her daughter by her shoulders and turned her to look at him.

‘Do not tell your mother about it’ was written all over his face. Penny’s heart trembled. Her mother was not at home. It was her luck that Nora refused to come home. That wretched Alex had done a favor on her. She smiled immediately and nodded while tucking her hair behind her ears bashfully.

“Of course father. Since you are alone, I would gladly play the role of the hostess.” her father frowned. He was expecting her to go to her room and rest there while he convinced Benard with those young girls. He had paid a good escort company for them.

“Honey, that would not be needed. We are all sorted really.” he pushed her out. If Sohpia came to know that Penny was involved, she was going to throw a huge tantrum and he did not want to deal with it.

But Penny ignored him and ran toward the stairs without saying a word. David took a breath of relief as he returned to his seat. A woman extended her hand to his thigh again.

“So where were we!” he asked with a chuckle as he played with the strip of the young woman, barely three years older to his daughter. “Aren’t these girls lovely? How about you choose first so that I can take others to my room? After all, it is rare that my wife leaves me alone. Hahahaha.”
