Chapter 59: Your Compensation

Max did not return. Nora did not wait for him. She collected her torn clothes and changed into them when the nurse told her that her bills were settled and she could leave at any moment.

As she dragged her exhausted body out of the hospital, a car was already waiting for her in the parking lot. Nora inhaled a deep breath and walked to the car, the door opened as she approached and it disappeared with the speed of lightning, the moment Nora took it.

“If i did not know any better, i would have believed that running a hospital takes no effort.” she whispered as the car finally stopped. Her eyes scan the surroundings. She was on the highway, around ten miles away from the city. If he wanted to talk to her, he could take her to any cafe or a private place. Why here?

“My staff has always been competent.” Alric replied in a lazy voice. It did not match with the speed he had driven the car at all. “Though I am not sure about you, Nora.”

“Then you can fire me.” she replied without batting an eyelid as she looked away from him to her plaster. “I have already suffered enough to pay for my debts.” his eyes flickered to her wounds too.

He would not lie, he was scared for a second that she would die when he had seen her lying in her own pool of blood alone with torn clothes and broken mobile in her hands.

But the coldness in her eyes had not diminished even a bit.

In an instant he was hovering on her. She didn’t see him taking off his seat belt or moving at all. Her eyes narrowed at the way his thigh leaned on hers.

“You take your life, your body too lightly. Always ready to hurt it to achieve your goal.” he accused her in a cold voice. His hands reached for her cheeks. Her lower lip was cut and swollen. Her face looked a mess. “Do you not care about your life at all?”

“Both of you have the habit of touching too much.” she spat as she closed her eyes. The touch felt good for some reason. Perhaps, she was craving for a caring touch after seeing her death again.

“As a businessman you should know that only risk takers could win. You take risks with your wealth to gain success. I do not have wealth. This body is all I have. I need to use it in every possible way to get what I want.” her voice felt distant, detached and lacked emotions. As if she was not talking about her life but a rotten useless asset.

“What if you have wealth?” he asked back, making her eyes open. She looked at him as if he was too naive. Was he the only one feeling the heat passing on their bodies? Was this proximity meant nothing to her?

Only god knows, he would have offered her his hospital if she would have asked him at this moment. The thought widened his eyes and made him stiff for a second. But he did not ignore the heat, the desire he was feeling for her.

She is a minor. He reminded himself and did not take another step toward her. But that did not mean he did not imagine it. His finger moved to her swollen lip and he rubbed it softly while his eyes scanned her face for any reaction. But all he saw was a dead look in her eyes. How could a young girl with no experience feel his touch?

“Are you offering me the price of my body?” her lips curled into a mocking smile that made his whole body stiffened. He felt like all the blood of his body froze looking at the look in her eyes.

“Ha! Ha! You are a minor and I am not into underdeveloped goods.” He looked at her breasts and spoke in disdain. “You must cherish your body little girl because I will have more use for you in the future. Did you get it?” He let her go and returned to his seat. Not for her safety but for his own sanity. This woman would drive him crazy.

He could understand if Max wanted to save a foolish girl from killing herself and get attracted to her in the process. But why was he getting attracted to a homicidal girl?

“I am only offering you pay in exchange for your work. Since you have suffered because of my brother it is my duty to pay you compensation even when I think that the accident could be avoided.” she looked at her wounds. She knew that the accident could be avoided. But everyone had seen her leaving with Penny and then she would return injured. Even if they both would deny it. How many of them would believe them?

Since Penny wanted rumors. As her sister, it was her duty to serve more rumors until the lawyers opened their eyes.

“About the compensation. How much are you paying me?” there was no hint of hesitation in her voice that his brow raised.

“As much as you want. Life has no value.” he offered, he wanted to see how much she could ask for when she paused and hesitated.

“I want a ten percent share of Mojo Ltd. the company was registered only four months ago and is struggling. It would not be hard to buy this much.” She searched for a phone in his pocket and sighed when she realized she did not have won anymore. “And add a new mobile in the compensation too. So that I can send you details laters. Now.. Why are we here again?” she asked, blinking and looking at him innocently as if she had just noticed the strange place.

Alric rolled his eyes but a smile escaped his lips. He pointed at a haunted house on the other side.

“If you ever face danger again, come here for the night. I will send you the locking password with your phone and address too.”
