Chapter 63: You Are The Culprit!

Alex’s voice was commanding enough for the teacher to take a step back instinctively. She frowned when she realized that a child had intimidated her. But she did not take another step toward the girl again.

She muttered something and glared at Alex before taking rounds of the class. Ha! The girl was no good. It did not matter if she was awake or sleeping when she was going to fail anyway.

But that did not mean that she forgot the insult she had suffered because of Alex. he had always been arrogant but he had never replied to her before. It must be because of the girl he was trying to protect.

Her eyes flickered and fell on the sleeping figure again. Recently, she had been very popular in the school because of her sudden change in grades and behavior. It must be Alex backing her!

“Ring” the bell rang snapping the woman out of her thoughts. She gave one condescending look to Nora before collecting the papers. Hearing the bell, Nora slowly opened her eyes and stood up to submit her test paper too.

“All you did was sleep? Do you even need to submit an empty test?” the teacher’s voice was loud enough to gain the attention of every student. Prior they were busy solving their own exam papers and did not pay attention to them. But now they heard the teacher loud and clear.

“It is not empty.” Nora frowned as she felt many eyes on her.

“Oh yes, I forgot that you did random scribbling on it before sleeping.” her voice only getting louder and full of disdain as she snatched the paper from Nora’s hands and left the room.

Nora frowned deeper but shook her head and returned to her seat. But before she could reach there, Penny stopped her way and frowned at her.

“We need to talk.” Penny commanded with her hands folded in front of her chest and her head raised high with arrogance.

Everyone paused and looked at them for drama.

“Penny, last night was enough.” Nora whispered as she looked at her wounds. “I am already feeling dizzy. I need rest.” She did not explain how she got her wounds but her words were enough for many of them to make wild guesses. Penny frowned at understanding the meaning behind Nora’s words too.

“Hey! What are you talking about? I don’t even know how you got the wounds!” her voice went louder, “my friends told me that you did not return to the room last night. Where were you? Huh?” Penny’s eyes narrowed at Nora.

Today, she was going to prove that Nora was having an affair no matter what! When she had rushed to the school in the morning, her friends were not worried about her. But they asked her where Nora was. And the look of worry in their eyes had irked her so much.

“Do you know how worried everyone was for you? When you refused to return home with me and left with Alex, I thought you would go back to our room. But you did not and now you are injured? Did Alex do this with you?” she looked at him and then at Alex. “We can go to a private place and solve this matter.” she looked at Alex and then at Nora.

But was there anything left to discuss in private after she had already so much?

Linda and Lisa looked at the sisters in confusion. When they saw Nora sitting in the class injured. They have thought the worst of Penny. Last night, she looked like she could beat someone. But now?

“Penny! What are you talking about? I was with you last night!” Nora looked at Penny in shock and confusion. Her voice came quivering as if she was still in shock from last night.

Alex blinked and finally looked at the scene. Till now he was ignoring Penny’s accusive gaze as if she was talking to someone else.

“If there is something I should do? Last night.. You.. i.. I do not understand what you are talking about now?” Nora took a desperate sigh as if she was trying hard to control to not cry. “I know it is about this exam. But I can not bear to lose. And even if I lose, it will never guarantee that you will win. So can you not let this go now. After doing all this..” a look of helplessness and frustration crossed Nora as she ran a hand in her hair. Her eyes blurry with tears and her back quivers. Suddenly she was on the verge of crying while Penny looked at her dumbfounded.

Her eyes widened and she glared at Nora.

“What in the hell are you yapping about? I was not with you last night. You were with Alex!” she repeated with gritted teeth only for Alex to stand up.

He was already six so when he stood up, he towered over sister.

“Look! I do not know what happened but why are you dragging my name in it as if you own me. Huh?” When he looked at her menacingly, Penny took a step back only to crash into another girl. When she realized what happened, her anger rose and she glared at Nora.

“You..”

“Alex was with us.” two other boys stood up. Nora recognized them at once. They were the ones Alex was talking to when she had run for her life. “We have played football for the whole night.” they confirmed. And many other boys nodded.

Though they did not play, the sound of the ball and their cheers had disturbed them the whole night.

“You all are lying! She was with Alex. I have seen her leaving with him.” Penny glared at all of them but at the same time her pulse raced. She could not shout much or she would ruin her image.

“Penny, you were the one who dragged Nora with you telling us that you are taking her home. I have followed you and seen you taking her to the parking lot and the guard had confirmed that your car left when I went to ask him.”
