Chapter 64: A Girl With No Name.

“I.. what are you saying! She did not go with me.” Penny glared at Lisa and held her hand with force.

Lisa grimaced and frowned at the pressure penny had added.

“Let go! Penny, you are hurting me.” She pushed Penny away with a bit of force. Linda walked closer and they both started whispering to each other.

Penny glared at her friends. Those middle class foolish girls. She had spent weeks convincing them that they were friends and that’s how they were paying her!

“You are taking her side. She must have promised you something more precious than the purse I have given you, Lisa. or the dress I have gifted you on your birthday Linda. You both are just opportunistic girls since your parents do not earn as much as us.” Penny spat in a rage. “Even so, how can you lie so blatantly. I can sue you for defamation.” her eyes turned menacing as she looked at both of them.

The girls had never thought that the gifts would be accused of being bribes. They blinked and looked at Penny with shock and fright.

“I do not have a single dollar to pay my fees. How could I give them anything? Didn’t uncle refuse to pay me when the doctor did not take the case against aunt back. I have not been given monthly expenditure since then.” Nora sniffled and rubbed her eyes. Yet she walked closer to Lisa to make sure that she was fine.

By now a large crowd had been collected around the group. Most of them were whispering to each other and passing judgements. Their eyes looked at both Penny and Nora with a condescending gaze.

“It is because you lied! You have been lying from the start. We have warned you so many times yet you do not listen. Even at this moment you are lying that I injured you when I was with..” Penny stopped and bit her lips. She did not want others to know that she was with Benrad. Not when the latter had not confirmed anything about their relationship.

Everyone looked at her with anticipation when she glared at them.

“Forget about it! Tell everyone the truth and I will forget whatever happened today.” Penny folded her hands around her chest again and started tapping her feet on the ground with a look of impatience. She did not want to waste her time on these fools when they did not even understand the basics!

“I..’ Nora took a step forward and looked at everyone. Hesitation and grief was evident on her face.

“Are you mute? Can you not even speak a word properly now? Tell everyone that you were with your man and he must have done this with you. You refused to come with me last night and ran away.” Penny did not dare to take Alex’s name again for fear of getting dragged by him. But that did not mean she would let Nora go unscathed.

Nora shivered and lowered her head as Penny glared at her intimidatingly. She struggled hard but in the end, she raised her head. Fear and courage, a mixture of fright and defiance on her face as she announced.

“I will not lie anymore.”

“Nora..”

“You have taken me to the house and then pushed me from my room when you come to know that the guests are coming at home. You have beaten me again and again. Uncle and aunt threatened me to not perform better than you. If I did that, you would stop my studies and confine me to the house. For a long time, you have been beating me and torturing me.

And everytime i tried to speak the truth, my aunt and uncle had threatened me with money. They have even told me that they will throw me out of the house. But now, I do not need your help anymore. I have earned a room in the dorm. I have found a side job to earn enough monthly expenses and I will work hard to get another scholarship for my fees. This time I will not accept your beating and I will certainly not lie.” gasps filled the room.

Penny stood in the center horrified. Her face looked ashen as if she had been slapped multiple times. Anger rose and she ran to Nora to slap her once more.

“How dare you!” she quivered with rage. Her chest heaved up and down, “you ungrateful brat! I will teach you a lesson today.” but before she could reach Nora, two boys stood in between.

Victor and Alex glared at Penny as they protected Nora.

“Penny, it would be better that you leave for your room.” they warned. But Penny did not step back. She could only see red.

“Ha! How dare you. She is a shrew. She is lying to you so that she could gain your pity and rise ranks. And like a fool you are believing her. I am sure there are not even wounds behind those bandages. She is only lying to gain your favor. Let me teach her a lesson and then you will see.” she spat each word with poison dripping in her voice.

How she wanted to strangle Nora. it was her mistake that she had let this leech stand in front of her.

“Enough! Nora, go and rest. We will handle her.” Alex whispered to Nora who was shaking. Everyone looked at Nora. Confused why Alex was showing so much care for an orphan like her. And Victor? Was he not a cool person who never meddled in other affairs and ignored fights?

What was happening? The sweet boy and the cold king were protecting an orphan with no money or achievements?

“No! I will not leave without solving the matter.” Nora shook her head. “Lisa helped me by opening my bandage.”

Lisa’s eyes widened but she understood what Nora was trying to do.

“You do not need to do that.” Alex frowned. He knew that Nora was lying. But at the same time those wounds were not fake.

“No! If i let go this time, it would never end.”
