Chapter 66: Charged Guilty!

Nora had always been a pushover. Penny did not remember Nora had ever cut their words. Even when she had glared at Penny for the injustice she had suffered, she had never once spoken about it.

The only reason was, her father treated her well. She was well fed, educated and even had good dresses. Who could leave such luxuries but to think that she had left just like that! Penny could not bear it and forgot that she was in her class.

But now that Nora had gone, Penny noticed how everyone was looking at her with contempt and disdain. Some even have abhorred expressions on their faces making her embarrassed.

“Nora…” she opened her mouth only to receive snickers. When everyone looked at her, she felt intimidated. How much hard work had she done to earn an image between them but now they were looking at her as if she was a criminal. Rage burnt her and she left the class gritting her teeth.

She went straight to the dorm where Nora should be. She slammed the door open and glared at the beds but to her surprise the room was empty. She entered and checked the washrooms but even they were empty. Her rage flared.

“Ha! Were you not injured enough to not be able to stand. Where did you go now?” suddenly a thought came to her mind and she bit her lips. “No! I have to collect proofs before she could complain to the principal.”

Everyone was against her, if they asked around, she would be blamed easily. Look at her luck, all her life, she had beaten and cursed Nora. But no one said a word. Now that she had done nothing, she was accused in the public. It was all because she had found a backer. But who had beaten Nora? If only she could find that!

She went straight to the warden room and knocked on the door, “Miss Megan, it is me, Pennelope.”

It only took a second to open the door. Megan looked around and opened the door wide and pulled Penny in.

“What are you doing here?” Megan hissed, “did i not tell you to call me and do not come directly to my room?”

Penny bit her lips and glared at Megan.

“This was an emergency and I need your help. Someone had beaten Nora and she is accusing me of the accident. I want to know where she was last night.” Megan frowned. Confusion and anger settled between her brows.

She had seen from her window how Penny had dragged Nora out of her room. And then they both did not return for the night. In the morning, Nora came home with an injured body. When asked, she said nothing.

Penny came later just before the exam was going to start with a lazy look on her face. Megan did not say a word because she was sure it was Penny.

“You did not do it?” she could not believe it. “You do not need to lie to me. I will find a way to cover it up for you.” Penny stood up from her seat, with her hands clenched into a tight fist.

“Where is there to cover when I did nothing!! Check the footage and everything would be proven.” Megan stared at the girl for a second with doubt but when Penny did not change her statement, Megan slowly nodded.

“If she had been with a man, then I would make sure that she would be expelled from the school and not get admission anywhere else.” she promised to bring a smirk on Penny’s face. She had not taken Alex’s name so far. She did not need to. Everything would be proven.

She followed Megan to the security room. A middle aged man was eating chips while his legs were on the table. A large screen with twelve cameras was covering the wall in front of him.

Megan coughed getting his attention and with wide eyes, the man stood up at once.

“I want to see all the footage of last night around 9pm.” she announced and the man nodded at once. With the press of a few buttons, Nora and Penny showed on the screen. Penny was pulling Nora with her from the hallways. Soon they appeared on the different screen where Penny had pushed Nora into the car.

And then in the next screen car started. The car was fast enough and it was not clear how many people were sitting in the car. But that was not needed since Nora’s struggle and Penny’s force was clearly recorded in the previous screen.

Penny stared at the screen in confusion. The part where Alex had followed them and had taken Nora with him was not on the screen. She stared at the previous screen again. Time was showing the background. But it was calm. It did not show their argument.

“How is that possible? My car is showing with the door closed but there was no argument recorded!!” she mumbled to herself when Megan sighed.

“We need to leave Nora.” she confused Nora’s arm and pulled her out of the room.

“Wait! There are some mistakes. I can not believe this. We need to check again.” She struggled in Megan’s grip earning the attention of the security department.

Megan gritted her teeth. If not for the big cheque she received from Penny’s father, she would have expelled this foolish girl already.

“What is there to check!” she grimaced, her face getting darker, “go to your room, i will think of a way to make sure that no one else sees the footage.” she glared at the girl when Penny stood there confused and shook her head.

“No, miss Megan, Alex had come there. He had taken Nora with her. I don’t know how this happened. I was in my house but Nora was not with me. If you do not believe me, I can ask my security to send the footage to us.” she assuredly only to grimace as Megan’s grip on her hands tightened.

“And what will that prove? You could have thrown Nora out of the car while traveling! That would even justify her marks. Tell me Penny. How did you injure her? Only then can I help you.”
