Chapter 77: Sleeping Medicine

The reporters all smiled at Nora before walking in and surrounding Alric. They all looked no less than the predators who had found their hunt.

“So, Mr Alric, can you tell us why the child is not treated when your hospital claims that they even treat those who did not have money to pay?” asked a man with a vicious look on his face, “could it be just a gimmick to get tax redemption from the government and donations from other families?”

“Not only that, you have gained a lot of new patients. They prefer your hospital despite their exorbitant charges so that they could be part of your charity system. Is that all a lie?” asked another.

“Mr Alric..” soon they all covered him without giving him a chance to speak. Though his expressions were still calm, his eyes had darkened and turned cold.

“Hahahahaha!” but a noise of heavy laughter broke the tension in the air. They all glared at the girl. Though she had helped them in entering, if she continued to disrupt their interview, they would show no mercy to him.

“I have been getting treatment here for a long time, not because they were doing charity work. I get treatment here because of the qualified doctors and their facilities. I never knew that anyone would put their life in danger just because they wanted to be part of the charity program. How noble!” she smiled innocently as if she was just letting the idea sink in and it sounded ridiculous. But the expressions of the reporters changed.

The woman on the sidelines also gritted teeth. She had stopped making noise because she had believed that the reporters would do their task perfectly. And the child in her arms was getting heavier for her to hold.

“What do you know?” the woman spat viciously, “these kinds of people make their reputation using us as cannon fodder. They have promised us treatment but it was only a lie to gain applause.” she covered her face as if she was trying to hide her tears. Her shoulders trembled and many started whispering again.

Alric did not look at the woman, he had handled so many vicious attacks like that in the past. But his eyes were still on the girl who was smiling. What was she doing here anyway?

“I do not know!” the girl laughed looking amused, “i have gotten treatment there.” silence followed her words. Everyone had thought she was from a rich family when she had praised the facilities but who would have thought…

“You are lying!” the woman frowned. “How much are you paid for doing this?”

Nora shook her head. Her eyes were so clear and bright without a hint of nervousness. She only looked amused and smiling.

“Well, then how about we go and check it yourself?” She challenged the woman and then she looked at the reporters. “After all, you have come so far to know the truth. Would it not be better to see it yourself?” or are you afraid of it? Though she did not say the last line. Her eyes had spoken all of it.

They seemed to be gleaming with confidence that was hard to ignore. She did not even pay them any attention. She was looking at Alric as if asking for his permission. They wanted to claim that the girl could be his lover and that was why she was taking his side. But her expressions did not have any fondness but sincerity and the man only looked at her coldly.

In the end, he rubbed his forehead and nodded. He had already accepted? They were all sure that he would refuse! BUT HE HAD ALREADY ACCEPTED.

The reporters exchanged glances but in the end they could only nod. If not, they would be the one to blame.

“That is great.” the girl clapped her hands and went forward to take the child from the woman’s hands.

“You must be tired to hold him. Let me help you.” The woman wanted to refuse but her face was covered with sweat and the child was slipping from her hands often before she pulled him up again.

Without finding a word, she stared how the child was taken from her arms by Nora. Nora held the child effortlessly with only one hand as if the child weighed nothing.

Casted on left hand, and injured at many places, she should be a weak girl but her whole body was shining with a strange glow that they all looked at her stunned as she started walking.

“Follow me, I have just been discharged from there.” She was all smiles, “I am going to get scolded for carrying the child. You know my doctor is very strict.” she winked at the cameras and chuckled. But there was no fear in her eyes.

As they all followed her as if she had spellbound them, she took them behind a large door. Even if they wanted to refute that it was not the charity room, the bold letters on the door could not let them.

With a strange look on their faces, they saw the wide hall full of lights and clean and broad doors and windows.

The staff was standing in every corner and looking at them with a frown. They noticed a lot of patients inside, resting or chatting.

Their smiling faces told the reporters that they did not face any grievances.

“Sister Ana.” Nora called for an old lady. “This child is sick. Could you take him to a doctor for a check up?” the nurse frowned and immediately came forward.

She took the child from Nora and entered a ward. The doctor was already checking a few patients there. He immediately checked the child. The reporters noticed how everything was properly organized.

Even if they were not from the medical area and had no idea about the equipment and machinery, they could see it was in a better condition. The hospital looked much better than other famous hospitals.

“Strange! The child is not sick but he was given sleeping medicine!”
