Return Of The Heiress For Revenge - Chapter 79
Chapter 79: Nonsense
She looked at the reporters for help. But who was Adam Sullivan? He was the best doctor of the state. His name was known by everyone even if they were not treated by him. If he said something, it must be true. No one dared to question him.
But even they were confused. They were told that a woman would create a scene and they were to help her while maligning the name of the school as much as possible. How did things come to this? For now, they could only see and wait.
“I do not allow it as her guardian. I do not trust your decision.” The woman shook her head as she tried to snatch her child back, but the doctor was tall and strong. She did not win. She could only grit her teeth and glare at him.
“I understand your worries maam. If you do not trust me, I can prove it with reports. Would you believe on a CT scan that his brain has a tumor?” she was stunned for a moment, before slowly nodding.
“Yes, yes!” There was no way that the report would show that he had a tumor. She nodded with conviction and slowly her confidence returned. But when she looked at his confident face, she was not sure anymore.
Uneasiness filled her heart when he nodded with a look of relief and took the child with him. All the way, she stared at her husband and the reporters but they did not look at her.
“Here, you can see it yourself.” The doctors spoke to her in a soft and assuring voice as her child was laid inside the machine and slowly sent in. the images started to form on the screen. She could see it was his brain but she did not know what was what and what did they represent.
She looked at everyone helplessly feeling the pressure increasing.
“This is the tumor madam. It is not the first time that your son has felt unconscious. The repeating ill health was all due to a tumor. But do not worry, with a single operation he would be much better. Though his growth would not be similar to other kids, he would still lead a normal life.” Though the man said so, his voice was full of uncertainty as if he was only trying to assure her.
Looking at the consoling doctor, the woman did not feel any better.
Her son had never felt ill or unconscious. He is a healthy child with hardly any fever. Even today, she was skeptical about the sleeping pill. But she was assured that it would not harm her child. But operation! Her heart quivered just thinking about it and her grip on her dress tightened.
“We will try our best.” the doctor repeated as a nurse brought a form and placed it near the computer, “you just need to sign this and we will handle everything. Do not worry, you do not need to pay any expenses. The hospital would bear all the cost of the treatment.” The doctor smiled at her but it only left goosebumps on her skin.
What was there to pay? Her child didn ot need any treatment. Though she was shouting inside, no voice came from her mouth. She could only feel the frustration rising but there was nothing she could do.
“Honey! Tell them our child does not have a tumor.” She looked at her husband for help but he was already signaling the reporters. He did not look at least a bit worried about everything. Her rage soared.
Noticing this, the form was given to her husband.
“Your wife is shocked. But we can not tarry.” the doctor told the man, “sign it so that we could start treatment.” her husband gulped. He took the pen with shaking hands and signed it under the pressure of so many eyes.
“Thank you.” the doctors looked at the reporters, “now there is no need for all of you to follow us. Is it?” His voice was cold and his face was dark. The reporters took a step back unconsciously.
But Nora just smiled and shook her head.
“It is alright, they have come too far to get the news. Would it not be good publicity if they could wait outside and meet the child after the operation?”
“….” the woman who had just thought that she would demand her child when the reporters would leave froze at her place.
“That is enough. There is no operation. Give my son back to me.” as if she had forgotten all her senses, she shouted like a banshee and ran toward the machine. She picked up her son before anyone could come closer.
The nurses were alarmed. They went to take the child from the woman.
“Maam, we understand your emotions. But you are disrupting a treatment.” they warned her, making her grit her teeth. She was still struggling when the doctor and Nora came forward to take the child.
“Maam, did you not come here for treatment? We are only offering you that. Do not be so stubborn. We will make sure that your son will get the best treatment.” Though the words were full of care, the woman noticed the mocking smile of Nora and she finally understood that the woman was targeting their child to teach her a lesson. As if she lost all her sense and could only see red.
“What kind of treatment? My son is not sick. I have already said that thousands of times. Did you not hear me? He had never felt ill nor did he often get unconscious. He was healthy in the morning. I have only given him a sleeping pill so that I could claim that he is sick. He would wake up any minute.”
