Chapter 86: Important Part Covered

“I look handsome, right?” the soft voice startled her. She took a step back and instinctively crashed into a wet and bare chest.

Victor was not an idol for no reason. He had a handsome face and perfect body. When she raised her head, dark eyes met her. It seems they were trying to devour her soul. She took a step back with a frown.

“Why are you naked?” He raised a brow when the girl accused him. And lazily ran a hand in his wet hair. The action would have earned a scream from a bunch of girls in the class. But Nora only glared at him.

“I was taking a bath in my room. I was not expecting you to stand here when I came out. And..” he looked at the towel loosely hanging on his waist. “I am not naked. I have the important parts covered.” Nora blushed. She had never thought that a reserved person like Victor could speak like a scoundrel. But she could not refute since it was indeed his room and she had entered without announcement.

“I knocked on the door before entering.” she looked away as she replied. Victor stared at the girl and his Adam apple moved. She was beautiful. But that was not the only attractive thing about her.

She had been in his class from the start but he had never noticed her. What attracted him was her bravery. How much had she endured in her uncle’s family? Yet, her eyes were so pure and she was full of bravery and life. It started with pity, then curiosity and now.. He wanted to take a step forward and kiss her.

Kiss her! The thought startled him. He looked at her again as if he was looking at her for the first time.

“I will come later.” she noticed that he was only staring at her. And after living a life, she knew what that gaze meant. He might be seventeen but she had lived enough to know how a boy looked at a girl when he was interested in her.

“Oh! Oh. why did you come here though?” he did not acknowledge her effort to leave.

“I wanted to tell you that I am leaving.” which was a lie. She had only come here to ask him to have breakfast together. His expressions changed at once.

“Why?” she looked at the deep frown and resistance like a child did not let his toy go.

“Because we have already tested the game last night. And I have made the report. Give it to mr Jhonson and I will wait for his reply.” Victor looked at the page she took out from her pocket but did not take it.

She nodded and placed the page on the study table.

“I will see you in the school then. I have some shopping to do before school starts.” she explained when he kept staring at her. Only then did he blink and slowly nodded.

“Come, I will take you to the market.” He offered to pick up a shirt from the bed.

“That will not be necessary.” his hand paused for a second but he ignored it. Take a step at a time. He had only realized that he was interested in her. And he was not even sure how much he was serious about her! He turned and smiled at her.

“Rubbish! We are friends and going to be partners soon. Let me.” Nora hesitated. She did not want to give him false hopes. “Or you do not take me as a friend?” he titled his head and looked at her when she sighed and softly nodded.

“Alright!” he beamed with joy surprising her. Such a naive kid!

“Give me ten minutes and I will meet you at the door?” she nodded and left the room. A slight guilt clenched her chest but she ignored it.

Victor got ready hurriedly. But when he stood up in front of the mirror he felt the shirt did not suit him. He looked nerdy. He changed the shirt to a white shirt but then the pants looked odd.

He changed seven shirts and tshirts finally settling on a beige shirt with blue jeans. He adjusted his hair carefully.

He skipped the stairs. His heart was beating faster. He would take her to an ice cream parlor and chat casually. He had to make sure she let her guard down first. He had noticed her reluctance. She must have trust issues!

Perhaps he should teach Penny a lesson or pick a fight with her uncle. His eyes went cold at that thought. But when he saw her leaning on the door and looking at the garden with a lost face, he sighed. He would make her happy first. She was always this lost and cold whenever she was alone.

“You are finally here!” She looked at him when she heard footsteps. She noticed he had changed clothes. He had used perfume too, slight but evident and looked away again.

“It took a long time. Didn’t i? I apologize for making a lady wait.” he gave a false blow making her amused. She rolled her eyes and started walking.

With a goofy smile, he followed her.

“Umm, Nora. where are we going exactly?” He was still underage in the car. So he could only take out two cycles for them. “If it is too far, I will ask the driver to take us.” though he did not want the ears of his parents following them. He wants her to relax and enjoy the time.

“I am going to buy some study material for the upcoming test.” another lie. She was going to buy stencils for writing threat letters.

“Oh, i know a perfect place for that.” he beamed and took the lead to drive the cycle. She followed him.

“Nora, if the game went successful, you would have enough money to buy a small apartment for yourself. You will be eighteen soon. Have you ever thought about living separately once you finish school?”
