Chapter 89: She Is Finally Here

“You brought more shares for me?” Alric’s anger was replaced with a cold smile on his face when he heard her question. He leaned on his seat and stared outside the window.

The sun was about to set. The large buildings were still full of people working day and night as if the city would never sleep.

” The company was facing financial issues. And since I have already bought a bunch of shares for you, I thought you would lose any value. So, I helped them a little. Take It as an advance payment for next year.” his lips curled into a sinister smile when the other side went silent.

“Are you sure the company was facing any trouble? It must be the time when their company had earned a good name and profit. How could that be?” Alric’s smile froze. He had just sprouted nonsense to her. He had not checked the status of that small company at all. His chair revolved and he pressed a few keys on his laptop.

His eyes flickered when he noticed that the company had gotten deals with a famous hotel. They were only going to sell the water bottles they supplied. It could be a big order. The company must be doing good. But how did Nora know about it? Was she keeping an eye? No, then she should have been confident! But she looked bewildered as if she was sure the company must be profteeing yet she believed that it was suffering loss.

“Why are you so interested in this company? There are so many large companies with good returns to offer.” his hand tightly clenched around the mobile he was holding.

“Because I want to start with a small one.” What does that mean? “Anyways, thank you for buying more shares. I will take this amount as a loan and return it soon. Now I have seventy percent share in the holding company?” What does she mean by loan? Did he not tell her that it was her next year payment?

“Yes, you are the biggest shareholder of the company now. Except the founders of the company, no one holds shares in the market except you.” he paused, ” Nora! Are you thinking of leaving work?” silence irked him. He wanted to throw the phone on the table when she did not reply.

“Mr Alric, this is the last year of school. Alex and I had different backgrounds. I am sure we will not go to the same university. And.. perhaps I will not continue my education.”

“….”

“You have enough money for it. If you do not invest in shares..”

“Then my family would notice that I have a large amount in my bank account. Not only the money would be taken but I would be beaten and interrogated to know the source of the money. Who knows if I would be labeled as your mistress too. It is not worth taking the risk. I have my future planned already. You should worry about finding a new spy for yourself. If there is nothing more, I have already reached the club where Alex is.” and before he could reply, she cut the call.

She had planned her future! Ha! Did she think investing in small companies would be enough to have a good future!?

“Ha! Why do I care?” She threw the phone on the table and started working on the file again. But the screen kept showing the news about the company. In the end, he sighed and rubbed the space between his eyebrows as he pressed the bell.

A young woman dressed in a perfect suit entered the room.

“Contact the Mojo company and give them orders to supply all the mineral water bottles in our hospital’s canteen. Not only that, contact my other business and ask them how much supply they took from the market.” the secretary noted down everything and stared at him again when he waved his hands.

The room went silent again except the occasional sound of rustling of papers.

Nora pulled the door. But she had no idea how she would justify her presence here. Alex was not a fool. He would realize that she was intentionally following him. She needed a reason. She looked around when a waitress came to escort her.

“Do you have any reservations maam?” she asked in a sweet voice. “Wait! Are you Miss Stone?” Nora blinked and stared at the waitress as she nodded.

“Mr Benard has been waiting for you for a long time. Please follow me.” Nora froze at her spot.

“Mr Benard?” sweat started to cover her palms and face when the waitress frowned.

“Yes, you have an appointment fixed with him. You are here for that, right?” This could be her chance to enter the club. But meeting Benard. She was not prepared for it yet.

“Miss stone?” the waitress called for her looking at her horrified face. It looked like she was sending the young girl to a grim reaper. “If there is some confusion..”

“I will go myself. Which room number is it?” the waitress blinked. But then respectfully told her the number.

“Third Private room on second floor. It is the second last from the left.”

Nora nodded and walked toward the stairs. She dialed Alex’s number thrice but no one picked it. With each step, her heart jumped to her throat. She felt like the air was getting more and more sparse.

She kept calling his number. But she was already in front of the door the waitress had mentioned. Her fingers were holding the knob but they just did not move to open it.

“Miss. Do you have any issues?” a waitress noticed her and opened the door for her. Nora looked inside with trembling eyes. Benard was standing in front of floor to ceiling windows. He was holding his phone with one hand and a cigarette was in his other hand. In the large room, he was alone and his magnetic voice was reverberating.

“She is finally here, I will call you later.”
