Chapter 91: Why Are You Refusing It?

“A gentleman should not insult the lady no matter what.” a strong masculine voice filled the hallways. While Alex was still a young man, Benarad was an exceptional man.

His magnetic voice suited his curled lips. He gave a refined aura of a man. Penny’s head snapped toward Benard, two hot tears filling her eyes, threatening to fall any second but she bit her lips and endured. She looked like a girl bullied by a ruffian. She did not walk toward Benrad, but it was clear on her face that she was relieved he was here. His presence gives her comfort but at the same time she was embarrassed to show him this side of hers.

“It is nothing much. We all are just classmates and Alex is angry over a small misunderstanding between me and my sister.” she explained in a faint voice as if it was hard for her to control her tears. But she could not badmouth others.

But inside her heart, she sneered. If Nora thought that she would use the same trick against her twice, then she was a fool. This time she would act better and teach Nora a lesson that she could only be her shadow. She was sure that Alex would create a scene after hearing her. Not only Alex would be rebuked but Nora would leave her image too. But the reply she was waiting for did not come.

She turned to look at Benard only to see that he was staring at Nora. his eyes had a strange gleam.

“So this is your sister. The one your mother had praised that fateful night.” Nora was no longer acting. She could handle the presence of her uncle and Aunt since they have only killed her but Benard. He had tormented her for a decade. A long decade! The fear was embedded in her bones.

Her body started to shiver uncontrollably as she noticed his eyes. He was looking at her like a beast looking at his prey.

“Nora!” she felt a warm hand holding her and she held it back like a drowning man held the last straw.

Alex frowned when her nails dug deep into his skin. He was still staring at the man who looked confused now.

“You look scared, miss.” Benard spoke softly. The voice could have melted hearts but it only left goosebumps on her skin. She was scared and Benard did not understand why?! He was a charismatic man. Women love him, fawn over him. Even after getting divorced twice, everyone only blamed his wife for being insensitive and gold diggers.

They were accused to divorce him for getting his money. And more than a hundred women wanted to marry him. If not for this sexy and willing girl, he would have dated a celebrity. But dating a young naive girl was refreshing. It made him forget his age. But this young girl… she was far better than Penny. The curves she had! He wondered how it would feel to hold her. Would she be scared further and cry?

Would her cries be as beautiful as her face?

“Miss Nora?” He took a step closer but Alex blocked him.

“She is sick, we will be leaving first.” he did not wait for a reply but dragged shivering Nora with her. Nora could not remember how she had left the hallways. When she came to her senses she was sitting in a private room and six pairs of eyes were staring at her.

“I..”

“Everyone leave! We will hang out later.” boys in the room frowned. They wanted to reject and argue. But when Alex glared at them, they only glared at Nora before leaving the room.

“What did that bitch do to you?” Alex held her by her arms and asked in a solemn voice. “That day you have faced her so well in school. I thought you had a backbone.” his voice came through gritted teeth. He was barely holding his rage. How he wanted to beat Penny and the man with her.

He had some relation with her condition too. She was not that scared before the man came.

“And who was that man? He looked familiar.” Alex frowned at the idea but surprised that Nora flinched again.

“Water!” Alex stared hard at her before standing up and bringing water for her. When she reached for the glass, he held it tightly until she raised her head and met his eyes.

“I do not like dirty tricks, Nora. I have enough of them at home. I know that there is something wrong with the way you called me when Penny was fighting with you. But I will overlook it if you tell me the truth.”He finally let the glass go and she drank it all in one gulp. Flashes, fear started to crawl on her skin as if she was sitting on needles sucking her blood.

“My family had chosen that man to marry me.” she confessed, knowing well that if she did not offer the truth, he would leave. “It is true that I have intentionally called you, hoping that you would save me. I do not want to marry him.” her voice shivered again. She had to get rid of this weakness or she would lose a lot.

“Why?” he tilted his head. “He is Chris Benard! He was in the news a few weeks ago for taking over another cosmetic company.”He spoke more to himself than her. But her eyes narrowed. He had already taken over it? She thought it was next month. That was the only reason she had gone to that club. He was going to visit the club for a celebration. That meant she had to contact that man again. But she had already spent all the money she had earned.

“Though he had divorce twice, it is very common in rich families. Would you not live happily with him as long as you do not irk him. Then you do not need to worry about constant bullying of your cousin too. Why are you against the idea then?”
