Chapter 93: Expelled From The School

The lights were already off as she returned late. When she was going to enter her room, she heard all of them whispering. So she held the door but did not enter at once.

“Don’t ask me!” a voice came, a bit fearful. “I have not taken the dress she had brought but you.”

“I thought it was my birthday gift. I have gifted her a box of chocolates too.” though she said so. Her voice was quivering and sounded tearful. “What if I was dragged in it?” Nora frowned. She knew they were talking about Penny. But why were they so afraid?

“Should we change the rooms? Then we would be free of these arguments.” Suggested the first girl again but the other only cried harder.

Nora stood there contemplating if she should walk in or stay there.

“I have decided. I could not let her use me all the time. I will confirm. As long as I pass the slip, would she let me go?” Nora’s eyes narrowed, her eyes were icy and full of hatred.

“But..” Nora took a step back and coughed. The voices faded instantly. When she opened the door and entered, the girls were already fast asleep. Her lips curled up in the darkness. She washed her face and went to sleep too.

The next morning, the school was hustling with more and more students. The libraries were filled and a long line of students were waiting in the staff room to get more pointers. Many students were nervous about their performance and the complexity of the exam.

Their nervousness showed on their faces. They keep asking questions to the limit that a few of them were foolish doubts.

When they saw Nora entering the class with a calm room and sitting there leisurely, they all snickered. Many had heard that she had won the scholarship by clearing one of the difficult exams conducted by the school, hardly anyone believed it.

They all thought that she had lied or cheated. After all, how would a student earning last position get first ranking so easily. They did not

believe those arguments she presented. Either the last exam was a coincidence or she had cheated. She would be caught in her act today. They were sure of it.

Many snickered and everyone ignored her. She noticed Linda sitting nearby. But when she smiled at Linda, Linda held her notebook and looked away.

Nora shook her head. She did not mind. She only closed her eyes and waited at her seat. Five minutes later, Penny entered the class. She looked pale and had a mask on her face. Lowering her head, she walked slowly to her seat. Many noticed her and whispered to each other.

After five minutes, Victor entered too. His eyes searched the class and stopped on Nora who was leaning on her seat with her eyes closed. His eyes sparkled looking at her. He walked toward her but before he could pull the desk and sit there, Alex placed a hand on the desk and jumped on the other side. With a smirk on his face, he sat down beside Nora. His face had a provoking smile. Victor’s smile stiffened and his eyes narrowed. But in the end, he walked back to his seat and sat there.

Everyone noticed the scene with a dumbfounded look on their face. Two most popular boys of the class were fighting for Nora? What did she have that they did not? While the boys were curious, the girls burnt with jealousy. How they wanted to push her out of the class or strip that innocent face off her face. How they wanted to teach her a lesson.

Nora had opened her eyes when she heard the noise and felt the warmth beside him. She had always sat alone while Alex sat at the seat beside her. But today he was sharing her seat.

She raised a brow while looking at him but he only looked at Victor. She followed his gaze to see victor’s back. She frowned and looked at Alex with confusion but he only shrugged.

His legs folded and he closed his eyes.

“Let’s make a bet!” she whispered softly. He did not open his eyes but she knew he was listening. “If you got better marks, I will treat you but if I get better marks you will pay my mess bills.” she smiled at him, making him chuckle. Her mess bills were just changed for him.

“Do you know cooking? I am suddenly craving for homemade food!” he teased her but to his surprise, she nodded.

“That is a tempting deal then,” he nodded.

“Everyone, i hope you are prepared for the exam.” a soft and sweet voice broke the clamor of the class. Everyone sit silent, their face full of nervousness.

“I know that only a few had filled out the form for the exam. But the dean wants everyone to try for the first level. Even if they will not be selected, they will get a good experience. I hope you will not ruin my image as a good teacher when you solve the exam.” she laughed but her eyes were alert and full of warning.

Everyone stood straighter. One by one she stopped in front of the students, and gave them exam papers. She passed a few good wishes or comments while distributing the exam papers.

“Alright, you have two hours to write. Remember no talking or cheating. If anyone is found guilty, not only your name would be canceled from the examination but you will also be expelled from the school.” her voice made Linda flinch and she shivered before her seatmate passed her some water.

Smiling, she held the sheet tightly and started writing. The class was silent. Occasionally the rustling of sheets and moving of nibs could be heart. The teacher took rounds in the class with a stern face. Her eyes paused on the meritorious students occasionally when she felt movements behind her. She had only turned to see when she noticed a slip in a girl’s hands.

“Nora! Stop right there.”
