Chapter 94: Everyone Of You

“…..” Nora looked at the teacher with a stunned face. She tried to hide the note in her hands but hesitated and held it firmly as she stood up.

The teacher had already reached by her side. She pulled the note from her hands with a glare.

“Maam, I can explain.” she started but struggled for the right words. The teacher opened the slip and read it. Her face darkened.

Penny finally smiled. She did not raise her head with the fear of getting attention.

“What is there to explain! I have already told everyone to not cheat. Yet you all are so daring. I can’t believe this!” her face had darkened as she glared at Nora.

Many students were looking at her with a snicker. She was the smartest girl in the class. Now what happened! She could not stop herself from cheating? No wonder she cleared the scholarship exam before!

Their mocking and snickering faces did not hold even a bit of reverence.

But to their confusion, the teacher turned and glared at Linda.

“Linda! Were my words a grain of salt for you? Stand up and get out of the class!” The angry roar made the class dumbfounded. Even Linda looked in confusion. The slip making hole in her pocket. Penny was smiling but the truth was she did not get the chance to throw the slip yet. She was still looking for a good opportunity. If the teacher would come to check on her at this moment! She gulped, trying her best to hide her nervousness, she stood up.

“I do not understand. I did not move from my place or talk to anyone.” she defended only to get a snicker in return.

The teacher walked to her and showed the slip to her.

“Just because you have not written your name, do you think I will not recognize your handwriting?” it was indeed her handwriting in the slip the teacher was holding but Linda did not understand. She had not written any note.

“I have a few answers that can help you. As long as you help me with the Mathematics part, I will give you all the Grammar notes.” When Linda did not reply and kept staring at the slip as if she was looking at it for the first time, the teacher felt impatient and read the slip aloud.

“Mam i have not written this note. I do not know anything about it.” Linda shook her head. Her hands twitched to cover her pockets but she restrained. But the slight action did not go unnoticed by the teacher.

“Is it not written by you?” she tilted her head. “Then you must not have grammar notes slip with you. Right?” The words horrified Linda. Her face plate instantly. The teacher did not reply. Her face was enough of a reply. She pulled Linda closer and checked her pockets. Linda did not get the chance to hide the slip. She had planned to throw it only in the later half when the teacher did not pay much attention.

So the slip was still in her pocket. But that note? She had really not written it. The slip was found easily. The teacher glared at her as if she wanted to beat her to the pulp and opened the folded page.

It had all the rules of French. The language was a bit difficult for them but they have chosen it themselves. The rules Linda held could solve most of the questions asked. The teacher’s face darkened.

“Straight to the principal’s office. You can give your explanation there.” the teacher warned and took out her phone. She whispered a few words and two staff came into the class. They took the slip from the teacher and waited for Linda to follow them. Her face was ashen now.

“Mom, I can explain. It is not mine.” she begged even though she knew she had lost it. The writing was indeed hers in the slip. She turned to look at Nora.

Nora bit her lips and looked guilty.

“I am sorry.” she whispered. The class finally understood. Linda and Nora were roommates and Linda had helped Nora last time. She must have asked for help in the exam and offered help in exchange but before Nora could reply… they shook their heads. Linda was a fool. She had only herself to blame. But it also cleared that Nora was not cheating. Many looked disappointed by the result. They wanted Nora to leave the class instead.

Even a penny frowned. She did not understand how this happened. But she did not raise her head till the end.

Others might have been fooled, but Linda understood what that sorry had meant. She gritted her teeth. But she could not do anything. Gritting her teeth, she had left the class. The class went into silence again.

“If I see you moving again, I will send you to the principal’s office too.” the teacher warned Nora and stood behind her as if she was keeping an eye on her. Nora nodded and started writing again, she looked nervous too but inside her heart she was laughing. Now the teacher would stand closer to her.

If anyone would like to play tricks, then they could go ahead.

“Wait! You did not check her. What if she had notes with her too.” Lisa was the one to stand up. She could not bear that her friend was published when it was Penny and Nora’s internal conflict.

Others did not know, but she had seen Linda hiding a slip in Nora’s dress too in case she was not able to throw one to her side. She did not understand why Nora did not mention it. But she could not let Linda suffer alone.

Nora looked at Lisa with pity. She had decided not to implicate Lisa because she had not schemed against her. Last night she was convincing Linda to not do it. But now..

The teacher’s pupil shrunk with anger. She was agitated.

“Fine! I will check each and everyone of you.”
