Chapter 98: She Has Connections

“I am. But are you?” the words silenced them. They have never thought police would be involved or they would not have said yes to this strange idea. There was no proof that Nora had cheated except the accusation of two culprits. It was clear they were accusing Nora to save themselves.

But they all had received a good amount and the director had personally called them to support the girls. The offer was too lucrative but now that the case was dragged, they felt unease. Even a blind would notice the flaw. The police would not take an hour to investigate this matter.

Linda and Lisa felt that too. They glared at Nora as if they wanted to kill her with their looks. They were innocent, yet they were accused and they could not prove it.

“Principal Kai, are you letting her ruin the image of your school! You can stop her. As her guardian I will agree to the school’s decision.” Sophia smiled with a hidden meaning, easing them.

Even if she called the police, if her guardian refused, Noa could not force the police since she was still a minor. With her family trying to frame her, who could save her?

“Fine! If you all think so.” but Nora still shrugged, surprising them. A few believe that she was a fool but a few of them felt dread too. The confidence she was showing could not belong to a fool. She must have a solution.

“Nora!” even her aunt felt something was off. But it was too late. Nora had already called a number.

“Hello, Mr West from Duncan Heights!” Everyone was stunned again. Sophia was first to come out of her stupor. She hastily pulled the phone from Nora’s clasp and stared at it as if it was an explosive.

“If you pressurize me with your power, then i will see how you could stop pressing from your power too?” they could oppress the press except Duncan Heights. This bloody newspaper and magazine were the only reason that their family was suffering so much.

“Nora!” her aunt warned but Nora only smirked as she wrapped her hands around her chest.

‘Cutting the call did not matter. You can even keep it to yourself, I do not mind. Mr West knows me. If I do not contact him again in five minutes, he will call. And if i would not attend the call twice, then he would find my location and contact me. I can talk to him when he comes here looking for me. But then, I wonder how many other charges can he add against all of you? An attempt to murder or kidnapping, which case would suit this scenario best?” Nora was not hiding any claws right now. She was baring her fangs as she challenged all of them.

At that moment someone knocked on the door. Before they could pay attention, Nora’s phone started to ring. The name shows Mr West. Many of them still hoped that she was lying. How could a school going girl have such strong connections without the help of her family. Sohpia stared at the phone as if she wanted to burn it with her eyes.

The call went off, making Nora laugh. “One more chance!” She looked thrilled when everyone’s expression changed.

They all looked shocked and confused, and nervous. Their faces were sweating as they looked at Nora’s phone in Sophia’s hands as if it could explode any moment.

“What do you want?” The voice came from the principal. He was the only calm person except Nora.

“Simple, I have not cheated. You have found no proof against me. So unless you find a proof, do not target me and I will forget everything that happened here.” she stated as she looked at the principal. The door started knocking again but no one had the time to care for it. “And I want them to be punished for the cheating they had done.” she pointed at Lisa and Linda.

Were they not smug just a while ago and dared to take money from her aunt in front of her. How could she let them go unscathed then?

“But it was you! You have placed that slip in our pockets when we were sleeping at night.” they complained in unison but Nora only sneered.

“Yes, and like a fool, you did not feel that there was something in your pockets when you got ready for the exam. When you sit in the exam hall until you are caught. How convenient!” Nora spat back. Before they could comment, the phone rang again. It was again Mr West.

“If the press got involved, we could not stop thep police. And if that happened..” The principal did not continue, but everyone knew what would happen. Their faces started to change. Mr Summer was the first to stand up.

“Perhaps, it is for the better. We could not come to a conclusion without proof, the police would handle it better. And as far as it is about the image, as long as we punish the culprit harshly, we will only get praised.” he offered but his offer was nothing more than a vicious slap on their faces.

Lisa and Linda were shivering with fear again.

“That…” the teachers did not know what to say. Though they could take a step back and let the girls bear the punishment, they would still be proven as incompetent to not handle such a simple case.

“What if we take our complaints back” it was Lisa who spoke, she was looking at the principal when the phone stopped ringing.

“If i do not call him back, he will be here in an hour. Then even I would not be able to stop him as he loved stories that could benefit his newspaper.” Nora shrugged with a sweet smile on her face making their blood boil. How they wanted to strangle her.

“Mrs Stone!” the principal looked at the fuming woman. Flames were falling from her red eyes and her whole face was dark and burning.

“If the girls are ready to take the case back, Nora would not be punished. What is there to complain about then?”
