Chapter 303: Execution (1)
Third Person’s POV

He charged through the sky like a crimson comet of fury, streaking toward Ethan.

Ethan simply seemed like a blur of black wings, burnt flesh, and blood-spattered robes.

Seeing those wings, a deep and twisted hunger flared in Declan’s chest.

This hunger was about the need to make him scream, to crush his spirit, and to pry the legendary flight magic out of his cold, broken body.

With that spell, he could defy fate and soar through the skies before ever reaching the Sky Realm, as that feat was what most demons only dreamed of.

His grin stretched wider and more feral while his eyes lit up with immense greed.

He intercepted Ethan mid-air in a brutal collision of wills and intent.

With his axe raised high, he slashed down in a savage and diagonal arc.

His huge muscles rippling and his teeth clenched in anticipation at the sensation of his axe cutting through this hated boy’s flesh.

The glowing red-hot edge of the axe screamed as it sliced through the air, leaving a red scar in its wake.

And in that fraction of a second, he saw Ethan’s face and found it twisted in what looked like panic.

His crimson eyes were wide and filled with dread at the prospect of seemingly being unable to dodge his attack.

Feeling the boy’s fear, Declan could already taste the sweet taste of victory.

His heart pounded like a war drum.

The thrill of revenge and ending the boy who humiliated him surged through his veins.

But then, something changed.

Declan saw that Ethan’s bloodshot eyes started shimmering with silver spiral ripples.

These unnatural silver ripples flickered across his crimson irises, like stones cast into a pool of forbidden magic.

Declan’s gut twisted. A spike of dread slammed into his chest, and he could feel that something was wrong.

But before he even had the opportunity to do something, the world went black, and a suffocating darkness devoured everything.

All of Declan’s senses vanished and he was swallowed whole by an abyss darker than night.

The world around him collapsed into a silent and shapeless void where there was no light, no sound, no scent, no pain—nothing.

It was as if the fabric of existence itself had disintegrated and left behind only the primal emptiness of oblivion.

For the first time in his life, he tasted the terror of true nothingness.

He tried to scream, to summon his mana, to ignite even a flicker of sensation, but his will met a dead end.

He couldn’t feel his tongue, his skin, his limbs, and his very body seemed to have become a ghost,t and he was suspended in a place where reality refused to exist.

Though on the outside, the living world continued to operate as normal.

Declan’s body was animated by a now-useless momentum, so it halted mid-air like a broken puppet and crashed onto the snake’s scaled back with a sickening thud.

His limbs sprawled limply while his eyes were wide yet vacant.

On the other hand, Ethan had transformed into something utterly unrecognizable.

His crimson irises were gone and were replaced by bottomless abysses that drank in light.

The whites of his eyes had dissolved into black, oily pools veined by jagged strands of darkness pulsing outward like cracks in a dam around his nerves.

A malignant and unnatural demonic aura rippled around him as if a forgotten god of death had possessed his body.

Without pause, he reached out and seized Declan by the hair with one hand and yanked his head upward like a beast claiming its prey.

His grip was brutal and merciless.

Then, with a speed that tore through the air like thunder, Ethan sprinted across the serpent’s back and dragged Declan’s limp and unconscious form like a blood-soaked trophy toward the shocked cluster of demons standing guard over the prince.

Just as he was only a few metres from the serpent’s head, suddenly something happened.

The beast ravaged by Ethan was still alive and suddenly reared with a furious hiss and lunged at Ethan.

Its monstrous mouth lined with jagged black fangs were unhinged wide as it shot forward with a final act of savage instinct.

Seeing the sudden huge dark maw appear in front of him, Ethan’s eyes narrowed.

He hadn’t expected this reaction from the snake as its sheer will to kill had defied the toll of its wounds.

But he didn’t falter.

In a cold, calculated motion, he spun and hurled Declan’s body into the beast’s open maw like a human shield.

The jaws clamped down with a horrifying crack.

Fangs pierced straight through Declan’s waist and sank into flesh and bone with a squelch that echoed like death’s drumbeat.

Black and putrid venom surged into his blood like wildfire, and it was now that Declan’s senses snapped back when he felt a burning and painful sensation coursing through his body like wildfire.

The ecstasy at his sudden and unexpected return of feeling was instantly obliterated by the unbearable agony screaming through every nerve.

His eyes widened in soul-crushing realization as he looked down and saw the twin black fangs skewering his abdomen and puncturing his organs and spine alike.

A putrid stench exploded in his nostrils.

It was foul, acidic, and nauseating.

But even that was buried under the overwhelming tsunami of pain.

He screamed in a ragged, primal shriek of despair.

His bowels betrayed him in terror, and he soiled himself as the neurotoxic venom surged through his veins.

His red hair dulled to a lifeless grey, his pupils dilated, and every muscle in his body seized up before going slack.

His magic sputtered out like a dying candle. His limbs refused to obey.

His life, which had been so full of arrogant ambition moments ago, now slipped between his fingers like sand.

His gaze, which was now trembling and glassy, rose slowly to see the harbinger of death in front of him.

Ethan stood before him with his face smeared in blood, half-burned, but still smiling.
