Chapter 307: Hitting the Head
Third Person’s POV

Trees splintered like brittle bones, and the air trembled under the explosive force of their passage.

The first shadow flickered erratically like a dying flame and seemed weak, unstable, and desperate.

Looking closely at the first shadow, it was the demon prince, Aram.

His once arrogant and ferocious fire had now been reduced to wild sputters as the icy black chain wrapped cruelly around his throat and was squeezing tighter with every pull.

The Umbra Shackles dug in like venomous fangs, and their freezing poison sank deeper and deeper into his flesh.

They slithered through his bloodstreams and rushed with terrifying speed toward his heart and magical dimension,

The heat in his veins, the very essence of his infernal power and pride, was being devoured by an unnatural cold.

Behind him, Ethan was a relentless blur of malice and fury as his grip remained unyielding on the chains.

He yanked them without mercy and dragged the prince through the shattered forest like an unruly beast on a leash.

While running from the mad dark knight who was destroying the forest behind him like a ramming train, he didn’t forget to taunt,

“How are you feeling now, dog? Where is all that pride and arrogance? Has your bark slid down to your ass, huh?”

The prince’s crimson eyes flared open wide on hearing his voice, and a rabid firestorm of wrath started blazing within them.

A mix of humiliation, agony, and rage twisted his noble face into something grotesque and feral.

His pride had already been bleeding from every pore, and Ethan’s words now stoked that wound like salt on raw flesh.

But Ethan wasn’t done.

He suddenly veered toward the lake again, and his boots slammed against the muddy forest floor as he maneuvered skillfully.

The demon knight, Telor, who had been rampaging behind like a runaway beast, finally snapped out of his blood-fueled haze and realized the sudden shift in his target’s direction.

With a lightning-charged pivot, he followed and splintered more trees in his wake with each thunderous step.

Ethan’s eyes narrowed as he could feel something abnormal.

It was the seething hatred swelling behind him like a wave ready to crash.

But that wasn’t all, as a new problem flared to life with it.

The prince’s body, which had once succumbed to the icy curse, had started to glow again.

It was faint at first, but then it started pulsing erratically with an intense heat.

His skin turned molten red like a metal that was about to melt.

Steam hissed from his body as his demonic blood raged against the cold poison and tried to reclaim its dominance.

Feeling the anger and the power of the ducal heir’s resistance behind him, Ethan sighed inwardly.

The Umbra Shackles started sizzling with strain as the icy energy binding them began to tremble.

The chains sparked violently, and cracks formed in their frosted surface as the prince’s inner fire fought back.

The inferno within the Duke’s heir had been reignited by sheer hatred, and Ethan’s taunts had been the spark.

Veins bulged across the prince’s neck and shoulders like fiery serpents writhing beneath his skin.

His arms pulled against the chain, and his muscles became engorged as it started trembling with raw power.

The prince’s demonic blood seemed to be howling for freedom.

Feeling the heat wave, Ethan exhaled sharply and realized the tide could turn if he wasn’t swift.

“I don’t have time for this shit, be an obedient dog” he muttered and tightened his grip on his saber.

He reversed it in mid-air with a practiced ease and held the cold blade by the spine.

As he lifted the now reversed saber, the blunt side guard that was an ornate hammer-shaped crosspiece gleamed ominously under the bloody moonlight.

In one clean and vicious arc, he swung the saber back like a club.

The motion was fluid and brutal.

The metal crunched into the back of the prince’s neck with a bone-rattling thud, and the impact was dull and didn’t echo, but the strike was deep, and it had achieved its objective.

The red-hot body of the prince jerked once, stiffened, and then went limp.

The infernal glow in his angry eyes dimmed, and his arms sagged by his sides.

The proud flame that had danced in his veins sputtered out like a candle drowned in snow.

Meanwhile, Ethan didn’t slow.

He merely adjusted his grip on the slackening chain and kept running while dragging the unconscious demon prince behind him like a discarded trophy as his breath came out in icy huffs.

Behind them, Telor’s howl of rage shook the earth, but Ethan was now prepared to execute the final stage of his plan.

Ethan leapt one final time with his boots skidding across the shattered blood soaked lakeshore as he landed with a solid thud.

The air was thick with the stench of burnt wood, singed leaves, and a nauseating undercurrent of blood.

The massive, grotesque lower half of the slain black snake lay twisted and unmoving beside him as its scaly hide now turned dull under the ominous and bleeding glow of the moon above.

What had once been a vibrant meadow that basked in sunlight and vitality was now defiled, tainted, and drowned in crimson hues that turned it back into the haunted wilderness of the Blood Veil Continent.

From Ethan’s bloodied hand, the taut and heavy Umbra chain extended like a curse.

At the end of it, the unconscious form of the once-proud demon prince Aram lay limply across the dirt while his body radiated faint heat that quickly cooled in the night air.

Then came the sound of the rage-filled roar that was so feral that it split the silence of the night like a cleaver.

In the very next instant, a blur of black descended from above.

The demon knight, Telor’s coal red eyes were ablaze with untamed rage, and they seemed to emit rays that streaked toward Ethan like a comet of destruction.
