Chapter 325: Reaching the Abyssal Sanctum (4)
Third Person’s POV

As for the sand cat, her tail twitched like a metronome as it was frozen mid-sway.

An awkward tremor ran through Virelle as her flushed face deepened into a brighter shade.

She turned away quickly and began to mumble under her breath while trying to change the mood and to divert the spectators’ attention to hide her sudden bashfulness.

Ethan just chuckled softly on witnessing this, as the corner of his lips lifted with quiet amusement.

Suddenly, Virelle found her perfect excuse to escape the rising embarrassment by focusing on her lover’s earlier question.

Her scarlet eyes lit up with clarity as she turned her focus and latched onto the shift in subject like a lifeline.

With a small breath, she began to answer with her voice carrying a quiet solemnity.

“The Crimson Kill Tower is a unique and enigmatic structure nestled in the heart of this wasteland alongside the famous Abyssal Sanctum,” she said, her tone thoughtful.

“It’s an anomaly of this land as its very existence is shrouded in mystery.

And the reason you have never heard of it before…” she paused as her expression gradually became clouded with apprehension, “…is because of a pervasive, otherworldly curse.”

Ethan tilted his head slightly, and his eyes narrowed as he listened.

“No one outside the Crimson Wasteland can speak of it, and it includes no mention of its name, its structure, or the processes tied to it.

Anyone who tries to do the forbidden dies without exception and always under strange and inexplicable circumstances.

There have been no exceptions… ever recorded about it.”

Her words were careful, and each one hung in the air like a faint echo.

She met his gaze and her voice was been lower and softer now.

“Even the forbidden existences… ancient ones like my master, or beings like your Master Nyx… none of them speak of it outside this land.

It is said even they aren’t immune to the curse, though no one knows for certain.”

Ethan’s eyes widened slightly, and the weight of her words finally settled in his mind like a heavy stone sinking into still water.

This wasn’t just some local superstition, but it seemed to be something that was truly beyond the ordinary.

A shiver of anticipation and something like restrained fear ran down his spine.

The very idea that such a curse could claim even transcendental beings like his Master made his instincts tingle, though he thought of it excited him at the same time.

This journey… might be even more thrilling than I expected.

His mind reeled as he recalled his Master’s silence on this land. Not once had Nyx mentioned it, not even by accident.

He nodded slowly while an edge of curiosity glinted in his dark eyes.

“Then… is this land truly wild and unconquered as it seems? Or is it secretly under the influence of the two demon empires?”

Virelle smiled at that and her lips curled with a touch of pride as she answered with practiced ease, as though explaining a well-known truth.

“Of course it’s wild. But not without order.”

She took a deep breath and her body pressed softly into his with her beautiful and arched breasts crushing his chest and rising along with the motion of his breaths.

“This land is managed not by one power, but by several. The two demon empires are just one part of the equation.

We vampires from the Stygian BloodWoods have a hand in it as well.

Then there are the werewolves from the Crimson Fang Highlands, the elusive specter elders of the Eastern Black Soul City… and even the ancient dark and ice dragon elders.”

She glanced at him with a knowing look as she let the weight of her words settle.

“They have all come together and agreed on some strict rules and a shared vision in order to preserve this land as a sacred testing ground and a crucible for the younger generations of their races to grow, survive, and evolve.

It’s our collective legacy.”

Ethan’s expression turned contemplative. The sheer scale of power involved made his thoughts churn.

So many ancient races were working in cooperation, and it seemed he would have to be very careful in what he did there.

Virelle went on, and her voice dipped even further into a smoother rhythm.

“This wasteland also acts as a massive buffer zone between the two great demon empires.

It’s one of the reasons neither has managed to fully dominate the Central Dominance lands with this fragile balance remaining unchanged for tens of thousands of years.”

Her words came out in a single breath, and when she finally stopped, she panted slightly.

Her soft and heaving breaths caused her full, warm breasts to press even closer against Ethan’s firm torso.

Their breaths synchronized, and the heat between their bodies simmered, though neither addressed it as it was not the place or the time to do it.

Ethan’s eyes remained distant as he sorted through all that he had just learned. He absorbed every name, every power mentioned, and stored it in the maze of his mind.

There was a quiet buzz of wonder in him like an acknowledgment that he had stepped into something vast, something primal and ancient.

He turned toward the bed and eased himself down onto it with the soft fabric sighing beneath his weight.

His eyes drifted to the strange, crimson-tinted world outside the transparent carriage walls, and a faint hum of fatigue pulsed through his limbs.

Sensing an opportunity, Velcy sprang onto him with gleeful mischief and landed squarely on his chest with a muffled thud that made him grunt in surprise.

The sudden movement startled the sand cat, which bolted in a flurry of dusty golden fur and darted toward the corner of the room.

It landed on the fake windowsill and its fluffy tail began flicking irritably as it sat there sulking and its green eyes glimmering like polished jade while it silently observed Velcy’s possessive antics with the young man it considered too dangerous in its naive senses.
