Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 103
Chapter 103: _Meeting Her Family
My gaze softened as I moved into the hospital room and stood beside Phoebe’s bed.
She was unconscious, her chest rising and falling softly with each breath.
She looked so peaceful while asleep and I was almost tempted to caress her face in her unconscious state.
However, I was able to hold myself back and turned my gaze to her parents who sat there beside the hospital bed with complicated looks on their faces.
It didn’t take long for them to recognize who I was as her father stood up and bowed. “Alpha Kaene, it’s an honor having you here.” he greeted.
I nodded, acknowledging the bow from his wife as well who seemed like she was too weak to stand at the moment.
“We have to take Phoebe back to the pack house to recuperate. The pack doctors can heighten her recovery speed there.” I announced, turning away briefly from them.
However, before I could call Lyra and make arrangements to get Phoebe out of the hospital, the door swung open, causing everyone’s head to turn in that direction.
Caleb, Phoebe’s younger brother, walked in, staring directly at me with a stern look on his face.
His father panicked just then, rushing to the lad’s side. “Caleb, that’s the Alpha. Greet him quickly.” He whispered into his ears but I was able to hear him.
I tilted my head, curious to see how this would end.
I remember how this boy had bravely stood against my mother at the Moon’s Chosen ceremony, stating that his sister was innocent.
Anyone capable of standing against my mother should be an interesting character.
“What happened to Phoebe is all his fault, Dad.” He snapped, pointing his finger at me.
He proceeded to fix his gaze on me, his eyes glinting with hesitation when he saw the calm look on my face.
But his resolve soon steeled up as he continued. “With all due respect, Alpha, but you didn’t handle any of this well. Yes, I know Phoebe was wrong for cheating on you but what would you expect after you rejected her and then proceeded to promise her a loveless union?”
I ground my jaw, trying to keep myself from showing any reaction even though my ego was hurt.
Seeing my silence, Caleb added. “She’s become the laughing stock of the pack, and everyone is labeling her a villain. She had this accident after she ran out of the house because she was unable to take all the hurtful words other wolves were saying. Hurtful words that you let spread to the pack members.”
I couldn’t take hearing his words anymore and took a step forward, but to my surprise, his mother, who’d seemed too weak to stand before, stood up and walked past me, landing a slap on her son’s face.
The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the room as Caleb took a step back, holding his face with a hurt expression on his face.
“You hot-headed child! Why would you speak to your Alpha that way? Hasn’t this family received enough shame and judgment?” She snapped, her body and voice shaking as she glared at him.
Her husband tried calming her down by placing his hands on her shoulders. “Stella, please relax. You’re stressing yourself out.”
The woman seemed hesitant and kept on glaring at her son but stopped when I coughed awkwardly.
“It’s alright, madam.” I blurted, causing their eyes to widen in shock. “I don’t mind your son’s words even if they seem rather harsh. All I want right now is to ensure Phoebe’s quick recovery.”
Their shock was understandable.
My family does have a track record of inflicting harsh punishments on the pack members. And I was no exception to that culture… Until recently.
‘It seems you’re making me soft.’ I thought to myself as I stared down at Phoebe.
I didn’t know how we’d get out of this current situation but I was certain I didn’t want her dead.
And I wasn’t about to let that happen.

After a few preparations, Phoebe was brought back to the Estate and driven straight to the mansion later that evening.
Her family wanted to tag along and I had no choice but to oblige, though I could’ve easily prevented them from following.
Mother wasn’t going to let me hear the end of it if she found out I brought these ‘peasants’ to the mansion, but I’ll deal with that problem when it comes.
“Make sure she’s taken to her suite and direct the pack doctors there,” I ordered Lyra as soon as we stepped out of the car. “Guide her family there as well and get them settled in.”
Lyra nodded her head, bowing slightly before rushing to help Phoebe’s family carry her to her suite within the mansion.
I sighed, rubbing my forehead at the sight.
It was so weird that Phoebe was still unconscious.
Her wolf should have healed her up by now but it seemed she was still in shock and recovering from all the mental stress she was put through before she got hit by the car.
“She should be awake by tonight,” I muttered to myself, about to walk into the mansion when I spotted Elsa rushing to me with a scowl on her face.
But I already knew what this was about and walked past her. “As usual, I don’t have time for whatever this is, Elsa.”
However, it seemed she’d become more confident as she snapped. “How could you bring that slut back into the mansion after she so graciously took herself out? Do you know if it’s the Moon goddess’s will for her to die?”
What?!
I swerved my body to her, my eyes shining with rage as I advanced menacingly toward her.
“You dare question my actions toward MY mate?!” I roared, scaring her as she stumbled backward and fell butt-first to the floor.
My roar caused the few guards lingering around to look away in fear, but as for Elsa, she looked like she was about to shit herself.
But before I could do anything to her, a voice stopped me from behind.
“Enough of this!”
