Chapter 105: _Corrupted The Luna Title
Phoebe
~~
It had all happened so fast but I could still remember how it started.
When my family mentioned that they were inviting some friends over, I knew it wasn’t going to end well.
And I was right.
Even before they stepped in, the son in the annoying family had asked me an equally annoying question.
“Did the Alpha chase you out because you cheated on him?”
Argh, I wish I could smack those words back into his mouth but I couldn’t. I was too embarrassed and ashamed of myself and let them in as the disaster dinner unfolded.
The family settled down at my parents’ dining table, the couple hugging my parents and exchanging pleasantries while their annoying son kept on staring at me with a weird grin on his face.
I merely looked at him for a bit before sitting opposite him, fixing my gaze on the table even though food hadn’t been served yet.
“Oh, Stella, you look so much better now!” The mother of the family remarked with a slight smirk on her face.
My mother smiled in return, sitting down to my right while my father sat beside her at the head of the table.
“Thank you, Martha. It’s all thanks to the moon goddess and her abundant blessings in my life.” My mother said gratefully.
However, my brother, who sat to my left, scoffed but didn’t dare say what he had in his mind.
“It’s not just the moon goddess, Stella.” The father of the family blurted with a certain tone, forcing me to raise my head just in time to see him staring directly at me.
Shit, they’re going to talk about me!
“I mean, yeah, Rowan and my lovely son also helped in my recovery.” My mother acted clueless, glancing at me.
Oh, she definitely knew where they were going with this conversation and was probably trying to avoid it.
Who could blame her?
“Come on, Stella, you know what we’re talking about.” Martha persisted, placing her arms in front of her.
I became increasingly uncomfortable, my mind already disassociating from the conversation.
Luckily, my father coughed just then, putting a pause to Martha’s questions.
“Honey, are you strong enough to serve us dinner?” My father asked my mother with a smile on his face, completely ignoring Martha.
My mother nodded and got up, about to head to the kitchen when Martha also got up.
“Let me help out. And while we’re at it…” She turned her gaze to her husband, giving him a cheery smile. “Dear, can you go get the desserts from the car?”
Her husband nodded, and with that, he and the women left for their respective tasks, leaving me, my father, Caleb, and their son behind.
“So, Your Highness.” The boy spoke up as soon as his parents weren’t there to hear him. “Or, should I call you something else? My Luna? Chosen one? Or–”
“Phoebe,” I stated plainly, too exhausted to have any argument about titles with this stranger. “You can call me Phoebe.”
I proceeded to keep my gaze away from him, fiddling with my fingers.
But it seemed the jerk didn’t get the memo. “I’m Alec. You–”

“Did I ask?” I queried with arched eyebrows, my face already heating up with anger.
I didn’t care what any of these people thought of me; I wasn’t going to sit back and let them ridicule me in my home.
However, even as I held that conviction in my heart, my hands trembled in fear as I dreaded the annoying brat’s next remark.
“Oh, a feisty one.” Alec chuckled, placing his hand in front of his mouth to hold back his laughter. “No wonder the Alpha ended up being smitten by you. Too bad you had to–”
Before he could say anything else, my brother chimed in. “Dude, not cool. That’s enough, you have no right to judge Phoebe.”
My eyes softened briefly thanks to my brother’s words but alas, even his words weren’t enough to stop a judgemental mouth.
“Ah, come on, Caleb boy. I was only messing around.” Alec stretched his hand across the table and patted my brother on his hand playfully.
But my brother didn’t return his smile, looking away and placing his gaze on me.
I just had to survive until this family was out of our house. This was just my second night here.
I couldn’t let myself break down in front of any of them.
Just then, my father, who’d kept silent for whatever reason, got up, his face showing how stressful it was due to his injuries.
“You kids should behave. I’ll go help Alec’s father bring in the desserts.” He announced, giving me a look soon after.
I knew that look all too well. He was basically begging me not to start any drama.
But if he knew his daughter, he’d know I don’t start drama. I reflect on the people who gave it to me.
“I don’t think you realize just how serious what you did is,” Alec stated, his voice devoid of respect.
I drummed my fingers on the table, my wolf already reacting to my annoyance and clawing inside me to come out.
It’s been so long since I involved her in one of my scuffles.
“So many little girls among the lower-class members of our pack were beginning to look up to you,” Alec revealed, taking me by surprise.
My breathing increased pace as I glared at him, but he didn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.
“You were an inspiration to them, Phoebe. But now you’ve corrupted what it means to be a Luna.” He scoffed, looking away with disappointment in his eyes. “No offense though, my Luna.”
Was I angry? Yes. Did I feel like stretching my hand and smacking the jerk’s face? Also yes.
But above all, there was a deep sadness that had been welling up inside me since the masquerade ball after that footage was shown.
I thought I’d cried enough since then but it seemed I was wrong.
“Dude, that’s enough!” Caleb snapped at Alec again but it was too late.
I got up, the chair scraping against the floor.
Without looking back, I ran out of the dining room and headed for the living room door.
Just then, my father and Alec’s father opened the door, holding the desserts, but I ignored them, running past them.
“Phoebe, where are you going?!” My father yelled with worry in his voice but I didn’t look back.
I couldn’t let them see me cry.
