Chapter 106: _Wish To Turn Back Time
Long story short, in the process of running out and crying my eyes out, I got hit by a car.
It had all happened so fast and the last thing I could remember before I passed out was my head feeling like a nail had been pierced through it and then people gathering around me to help.
Now I woke up only to find myself staring at Kaene’s back, causing me to squint my eyes in confusion.
“Kaene?” I blurted out, the memories of everything that happened before the accident flooding my mind.
He swerved his head to me, his gaze softening as soon as his eyes landed on me.
Hope.
All I could feel at that moment was an overwhelming surge of hope in me thanks to the way he looked at me.
Did this mean he still had feelings for me?
Of course, he still has feelings for me, the mate bond made sure of that.
I opened my mouth, thinking of what to say when suddenly, a feminine voice shrieked with excitement.
“Oh, my baby.” My mother rushed to my side and drew me into a warm embrace, taking me off guard.
It was then that I realized where I was. This is my suite.
How did I get back into the mansion?
My eyes scanned the suite and I spotted my father and Caleb both standing behind my mother with smiles on their faces.
However, the presence of one face almost ruined the heartwarming family moment.
“Hmph.” Former Luna Catherine scoffed with disdain, looking away from me.
She turned her gaze to Kaene and remarked. “Well, dear son, your darling mate is awake just like you wanted. I don’t care what decision you make at this point, all I know is I can’t stay in the presence of a slut who has befouled what it means to be a Luna.”
Her words stung my heart, but all I could do was glare at her as she gave me one final glance before walking away and shutting the door behind her.
“Ignore her words, dear.” My mother seemed to notice the change in my mood and began brushing her hands through my hair. “Everything is going to be just fine, alright?”
I smiled wryly, glancing at Kaene.
His mood had also changed drastically as he coughed awkwardly, his expression becoming stoic.
“I’ll leave you to have some rest.” He said plainly, gazing at me with a distant look in his eyes before he turned away from me.
I gritted my teeth, at a loss for what to do.
A gentle nudge from my mother prompted me to call him back. “Kaene, wait.”
He paused in his tracks, his back still facing me. “Yes, Phoebe?”
I closed my eyes as if that would make anything I was about to say easier.
Here goes…
“I know what I did was stupid, selfish, and just plain wrong and shameful, but I want you to know I’m sorry.” I began with a pleading tone, a bit hesitant with my words because of the presence of my parents.
My Dad immediately understood that we needed space and held my mother’s shoulder, guiding her out of the suite while my brother gave me a thumbs up.
Once they were all out of the place, I continued. “I… I don’t know if we can start all over again. A do-over.”

My heart fell when Kaene scoffed, finally turning his body to face me.
“A do-over? Is that sort of thing possible in this context?” He questioned, his tone sounding sarcastic. “You and Negan dealt me the harshest of betrayals. Any other Alpha from throughout history would’ve had you two executed.”
I gulped, the coldness in his voice almost suffocating. The distant look in his eyes made me feel like he’d already thought of that option.
Even though this was the twenty-first century, Blue Moon Pack still practiced a lot of outdated laws.
“It’s… It’s not necessarily an excuse, but you rejected me.” I stuttered, looking away from him with shame. “I… I felt like trash. You made me feel like trash Kaene. I… I was upset and then that coupled with the heat and the alcohol made–”
“Don’t you dare give me that bullshit about alcohol!” He snarled all of a sudden, taking several steps toward me with rage in his eyes.
I jumped in bed, startled as I braced myself for impact.
However, nothing happened. He was able to stop himself before he could do anything rash, withdrawing his hand and breathing heavily to calm himself.
I sighed with relief, watching as he looked away from me with gritted teeth.
“Do you know how many times I’ve rejected Elsa’s advances while drunk?” He suddenly asked, fixing his gaze on me.
Gosh, could we not bring that overgrown Barbie doll into this?
I diverted my gaze away from him, biting my lips with frustration as he continued.
“Do you think I don’t find that woman attractive? Do you think I wouldn’t leave you in a heartbeat for her if it weren’t for the unavoidable fact that you’re my mate?” He went on, stepping even closer to the bed until he placed his hands at the foot.
Argh, were these questions necessary?!
I clenched my fists, my wolf already howling aggressively at the thought of our mate being with another woman.
That reaction made me remember how I ignored my wolf before I slept with Negan.
She’d been urging me to find Kaene that night instead of hooking up with Negan but I’d been too stubborn and hurt to care.
However, it wasn’t all my fault.
“Kaene, I get how you feel, really,” I muttered, rubbing my forehead with my hand. “I… I wish I could go back in time and change my actions, but it seems that’s impossible.”
Kaene had a weird look on his face when I said that, causing my eyebrows to furrow with curiosity.
But he was quick to regain his composure, shaking his head. “I’ll leave you to rest, Phoebe.”
Gosh, who would’ve thought I would end up wanting the attention of a man I loathed at the beginning?
“I think I was drugged that night.” I blurted before he could get to the door, watching as he paused in his tracks.
