Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 107
Chapter 107: _Moving On
Kaene slowly turned his gaze to me, but the expression on his face was not a welcome sight.
The corners of his eyes crumpled into a frown, his eyes snapped in a weird mix of confusion and anger as he walked back slowly towards me.
“What do you mean, ‘drugged’?” He asked with dimmed eyes, his interest piqued.
I sighed, fiddling nervously with my fingers before I explained. “I had a discussion explaining everything that happened that night with my family and I–”
“Everything?” Kaene repeated with a complicated expression on his face.
My face heated up when I realized what he was insinuating but I quickly shook my head. “Not necessarily everything! I just told them what I felt before it happened and… And the events leading up to it.”
He didn’t seem convinced but remained silent, folding his arms in front of his chest.
I sighed in relief, a little grateful deep inside.
Before I left, Kaene seemed like he wanted nothing more than to avoid my existence and never talk to me again.
The fact that he was willing to hear what I had to say about this was reassuring.
“Anyway, my mother pointed out something that had me thinking.” I continued, adjusting my sitting position on the bed. “I’m not much of a drinker but a few glasses of alcohol shouldn’t be enough to get me drunk. Even if it does, it shouldn’t be enough to get me THAT drunk.”
Kaene squinted his eyes, seemingly catching on with what I was trying to say.
But he soon shook his head with a dismissive wave. “Are we seriously going there, Phoebe? You were in heat; of course, the alcohol clouded your actions in such a state.” He mumbled.
He seemed to be losing interest in the conversation and I became oddly desperate.
I bit my lips as I stepped out of bed, my feet touching the cold marble tiles of my suite.
Kaene turned his gaze to me, his eyes widening in shock. “Have you lost your mind?!”
Before I could gather the strength to take a few steps, my eyes became blurry and a piercing headache assaulted my head.
I held my forehead, gritting my teeth and trying to fight through the pain, but it was no use as my legs gave in, and I found myself falling to the ground.
Luckily for me, a pair of muscular, strong arms caught me before my body could meet the cold ground, prompting me to raise my head and meet Kaene’s piercing eyes staring at me.
His gaze scrutinized my face, going from my lips to my eyes as he parted my hair aside.
We both remained in that position staring at each other, lost in each other’s eyes.
However, it didn’t take long for Kaene to come back to his senses and cough awkwardly as he helped me back to my bed, placing me there and adjusting my pillows.
“The doctor said you need as much rest as possible,” Kaene revealed, caressing my forehead with his touch briefly before withdrawing his hand.
It was crazy how much I’d yearned for something as basic as his touch, but yet here I am.
I smiled bitterly at my predicament, bringing my gaze to my fingers. “I understand, Kaene. I… I just want you to take this seriously. Something is wrong in this pack.”
My voice was filled with dread as I thought deeper about the whole thing.
What if whoever had drugged me and Negan had also poisoned the wine at the Luna Ball?
What if the person was also connected to all the weird things happening in the pack like Miranda’s murder?
As I thought about all this, there was only one person who seemed to pop up in my head as a suspect.
Delta Asher…

“You don’t have to stress your pretty little head about anything.” Kaene suddenly remarked, taking me off guard.
I looked up at him only to see how he stared down at me with warmth in his eyes.
It was only brief but that fleeting moment of warmth from him seemed to make me feel better.
However, Kaene sighed, stepping back. “I don’t know how true what you’re saying is, but it doesn’t matter now. The deed has already been done and all we can do is try… Moving on from it.”
Moving on? But what would moving on mean for the both of us?
Would I be able to live without him?
Crap, why was I so confused with my emotions?!
“Good night, Phoebe.” Kaene managed to say before walking out of the suite.
This time, I let him leave, sitting on the bed with nothing but my thoughts to keep me company as silence finally came to the suite.
.
.
Several hours later, my eyes fluttered open, and I groggily sat up on the bed.
It was midnight, which was easy to tell thanks to the alarm clock beside me.
My Dad and brother slept on a couch away from the bed while my Mom slept cuddled up beside me.
I smirked at the sight, brushing my fingers through her hair… until I felt it.
My instincts screamed danger as I felt like something was watching me in the darkness, prompting me to quietly shift my mother away from my body before fixing my gaze on the spot.
Thanks to my enhanced wolf sight, I was able to make out the shape of the person and soon saw details of their clothes and face.
“Negan?” I muttered, sighing with relief when I realized that it was just him.
Hold up… What the hell was he doing sneaking into my room at this unholy time of the night?
It was past two AM for the moon’s sake!
Meanwhile, Negan stood in the darkness silently, waving at me with a smirk on his face. “Welcome back, honey. Can we talk?” He whispered.
I hesitated, turning my gaze to my family.
It didn’t look like they were going to wake up anytime soon.
Sighing to myself, I stepped down from the bed and walked toward the Beta, my brows furrowed into a curious frown.
He had a hand hidden behind his back which he soon brought out, revealing what was in it.
My eyes shone with surprise when I saw what it was.
