Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 109
Chapter 109: _Cursed Garden
“Phoebe!” Negan yelled out, running toward me when he heard my scream.
But I was too stunned to even acknowledge his presence, all my attention placed on the thing dangling on the tree.
And by ‘thing’, I meant Brittany’s dead body, hoisted up by a garden pipe tied around her neck and unto the tree branch as if she was a mere decoration.
“By the moon,” Negan muttered when he stood beside me, his eyes staring at the dead body with all sorts of hidden emotions.
I glanced at him, my breathing increasing as I tried to process everything.
There wasn’t much to process since it was quite clear that Brittany killed herself.
But why did I have a weird feeling about this? As if there was something more to the whole thing.
My stomach churned as I looked away from her dead body, placing my hand on my hand and hoping that I wouldn’t puke.
“We’ll have to involve the Alpha Council in this. This is getting out of control.” Negan blurted with a resolute voice, bringing out his phone and dialing a number.
Wasn’t it too late to start calling people to the scene?
I looked away from him, my gaze falling on Brittany’s body again.
However, my gaze soon trailed the tree and went to the foot of it where I saw a piece of paper arranged meticulously.
I tilted my head, stepping closer to the tree with caution. When I got to the foot of it, I squatted and picked up the paper, realizing that it was an envelope.
“To Luna Phoebe,” I whispered in shock when I saw my name written on the envelope.
Did Britanny write this before killing herself? If she did… Then why did she kill herself?!
“The council will be here soon.” Negan suddenly announced placing his phone back into his pocket. “We’ve unanimously decided not to involve Alpha Kaene yet so we don’t disturb him.”
A scowl appeared on my face as I threw my hands listlessly into the air. “Why the heck would you involve the Alpha Council so soon? Oh my gosh, does this mean the Delta will be coming here as well?!”
An overwhelming sense of dread washed over my entire being when I realized that the Delta would be showing up here as well.
My mind had already registered him as a major suspect for basically any crime that happens within the estate and the pack at large.
Maybe this was his way of destroying the pack from the inside so he could easily take control from Kaene.
“What did the letter say, by the way?” Negan suddenly asked, pointing at the letter in my hands.
About that…
.
.
“Bloody hell…” The Lycan muttered with a deep frown on his face when he and the rest of the Alpha Council members arrived on the scene.
Everyone present had sleepy expressions on their faces, the Gamma looking the most exhausted with heavy eye bags surrounding his eyes.
I felt bad for him.
As the one in charge of the security of the pack, the responsibility of investigating the circumstances surrounding Miranda’s murder had fallen on his hands.
He hadn’t even solved that and now this new case was showing up.
“I still don’t understand why you called us here, Negan.” Delta Asher had an annoyed expression on his face, his arms folded in front of his chest. “This girl clearly committed suicide.”

He gazed at Brittany’s body with disdain on his face, his eyes scrunching up.
However, that reaction was enough to piss me off as I stepped forward and waved a finger in front of his face.
“That girl had a name. And so did all the people that ‘mysteriously’ died in this pack.” I snapped, an unexplainable wave of anger and frustration washing over me.
Maybe the frustration was because Delta Asher here posed some kind of threat to Kaene and the pack and yet I couldn’t say anything about it.
I found it oddly convenient how that video clip of Negan and I had been revealed after we overheard his plans.
Was he trying to get rid of us? Were these killings some kind of symbolism for him?
Meanwhile, the Delta scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Shouldn’t you be resting by the Alpha’s side after that unfortunate accident?” He remarked casually.
I clenched my fists, glaring at him as I contemplated what to say to him when the Gamma chimed in.
“Beta Negan said there was a letter.” He coughed awkwardly, trying to ease the tension.
Turning his gaze to me, he stretched out his hand expectantly. “May I have it?”
I nodded, handing the letter to him while glaring at Delta Asher from the corner of my eyes.
But he no longer had an ounce of attention on me, instead staring eagerly at Gamma Thane as he skimmed through the letter.
The more he read through it, however, the deeper his frown became until he raised his head away from the letter.
“Well?” The Lycan asked with a bored expression.
“What does it say?” Delta Asher added his interest seemingly piqued.
Of course, his interest would be piqued.
He probably thought there was some kind of incriminating evidence against him in the letter.
Alas, that wasn’t the case. It was something a bit more… Complicated.
“This girl confessed that she’s the one who leaked out information about the video shown to the elites at the masquerade Ball.” He exclaimed, glancing back at Brittany’s body. “She also stated that the video is photoshopped. Beta Negan and Luna Phoebe are innocent.”
Yup… That’s what the letter said.
I couldn’t believe Brittany was the one who leaked information about the video to the pack.
Worse of all was the fact that she lied about fabricating the video. That video was definitely NOT fabricated.
I could remember kissing Negan and much more that night.
As I processed these thoughts, Delta Asher suddenly sniggered, his gaze going from me to Negan repeatedly.
“It looks like someone is doing a great job covering their tracks.” He remarked, laughing cynically to his heart’s content.
Oh, now he was asking for it.
