Chapter 113: _The Clock Is Ticking
After whispering into Mr. Thatcher’s ears and seeing his amusing reaction to my words, I pulled away from him and patted his shoulder, sniggering as I brushed past him.
I wasn’t certain what exactly the cunning man’s plan with the Delta was, but I had a feeling that it was going to be deliciously diabolical if it worked out.
“Let’s see if Kaene survives it,” I muttered as I made my way toward his office.
It was almost certainly foolish for me to show my face in the mansion and talk less about seeing the Alpha himself.
But I needed to see him and get a grasp of how much he’s fallen since he found out about the affair.
Anyway, when I got to his office door, I drew in a deep breath, bracing myself before I knocked.
Just when I was about to knock, the door opened and to my surprise, the person who opened the door was none other than Delta Asher.
Dearie me, just how many enemies did Kaene have in this mansion?
My eyes widened in surprise, but I soon dimmed them, scrutinizing the idiot.
“What are you doing here?” I queried, not bothering to hide my deep loathing for him.
He eyed me a bit before he smirked. “Well, pardon me, Beta, but I could ask you the same question. I mean, if I were in your current situation… Well…”
He trailed off, shrugging his shoulders.
Any other person would’ve probably gotten upset by the Delta’s insubordination. But I wasn’t.
Instead, I had a huge grin on my face as I placed my hand on his shoulder, bringing my face closer to his while ensuring the door to the Alpha’s office was closed.
The Delta was taken aback by my sudden closeness and took two steps back, but that only caused my grin to widen.
“I want you to know that I HOPE for your sake that your plan works out,” I whispered, dusting away some dirt particles on his shoulder and adjusting his tie. “I mean, could you imagine what would happen if you failed to kill the Alpha and he finds out that you’re behind the attempt on his life?”
I could feel the delicious fear coming out of the fool with each word I uttered. That made me realize that he was simply a lackey.
The real brains behind the operation was Mr. Thatcher who was just using the less experienced Delta.
The power dynamics of the Blue Moon pack were truly a sight to behold.
If I hadn’t even begun interfering in their affairs, their greed would’ve made them kill the Alpha and bring their whole pack to anarchy, leaving them vulnerable to the Hunters.
Anyway, it seemed the Delta finally recovered from my words as he shook his head and stepped away from me. “You’re… I don’t know what you’re talking about, Beta. And I do not appreciate you threatening me.” He blurted.
Oh, the poor little thing.
“Dear, I’m not ‘threatening’ you.” I sniggered, not caring about a few maids who walked past the hallway looking at me weirdly.
My laugh only made the Delta more uneasy but I was merely getting started.
“I don’t make threats. I make promises and back them with actions.” My voice dropped to a cold whisper, a smirk playing on my lips when I saw the petrified expression on the Delta’s face.
Sighing to myself, I shoved him aside and stated one last thing. “The clock is ticking, Delta…”
With that, I knocked on the door and waited for the Alpha to respond before I stepped in.
When I stepped in, I spotted Kaene holding his phone and watching something with keen interest.
He had a disturbed expression on his face, his fingers rubbing his chin like he was in deep thought.
His oddly shy assistant, Lyra, stood beside his desk calmly, glancing at me briefly before looking away when I stared directly at her.

Finally, the Alpha raised his head from his phone and gazed directly at me, his face filled with complicated emotions.
There was an odd silence in the office as we both stared at each other, and I couldn’t help but wonder what was going through his deliciously chaotic mind at the moment.
Eventually, he sighed heavily and showed me what he was watching on his phone. It was the confession video that I’d kindly made Brittany make before killing her.
“Have you seen this video trending around the pack’s corner of the internet?” He asked as if I was some Neanderthal living under a rock.
Ah… If only he knew I was present during the making of the video.
“Yes, I have, Alpha,” I muttered, shaking my head, feigning pity. “It’s a truly tragic situation. Who would’ve suspected a random maid to be responsible for spreading the information of the…”
I trailed off when I saw the tense expression on the Alpha’s face.
Oh, right… It would be weird for me to talk about the affair to the person who the same affair directly impacted.
I remained silent and couldn’t help but notice how Kaene didn’t even offer me a seat.
Rude!
“Is what she said in the video accurate?” He suddenly asked, making himself more comfortable in his seat while taking a sip from a cup of tea placed on his desk by Lyra.
He sighed softly after sipping the tea, licking his lips before fixing his gaze back on me, his eyes arched expectantly.
I knew what this was…
He was finding closure.
Unfortunately for him, I couldn’t offer him that.
“Yes, she’s likely the one who broadcasted the video and spread the information to the rest of the pack,” I revealed cautiously, scrutinizing the Alpha’s face and body language for any changes.
His eyes scrunched up in anticipation, telling me that he was eager to know something else.
Something that had probably been giving him sleepless nights.
So, I answered the question pounding in his mind. “However, the Luna and I did have an affair, and we deeply regret it. What happened was real and if there was any way to turn back time so it never happened… I would do it in an instant.” I made sure I sounded as sincere as possible, even though I felt like I was going to puke.
Whatever happens next would be decided by him.
