Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 115
Chapter 115: _Losing Patience

Phoebe finally woke up.
I was relieved but made sure not to show it, keeping my distance from her despite the little discovery I made.
The mate bond and our proximity allowed her wolf to heal faster from the shock of the coma… I was sure of it.
The doctor had hinted at something like that but now I had the evidence to prove his theory.
The next day after Phoebe woke from her coma, I sat in my office within the mansion alone, drumming my fingers on the armrest of my chair.
“Is this a sign?” I muttered, bringing my gaze to the ceiling, hoping the Moon goddess would give me a response of sorts.
I got nothing.
I sighed, rubbing my forehead before bringing my gaze back to the ledgers from my company and going through them to make sure there weren’t any errors.
Just then, a knock came on the door, forcing me to raise my head briefly. “Come in.”
The door swung open and in came Lyra, who had a smile on her face and held a steamy cup of what scented like tea in her hands.
“Good morning, Alpha. Your mother said I should bring you this.” She announced, placing the cup on top of my desk.
My gaze fell on the cup hesitantly before I grabbed it and scrutinized its contents.
The tea smelled nice…
“Let me guess, my mother said something about this tea having ‘calming effects’, didn’t she?” I remarked, shaking my head with a wry smile.
I sighed and took a sip of the tea, savoring the taste as Lyra walked to my side and stood there waiting for my next words.
After dropping the cup on the table, I turned my gaze to her. “How are Phoebe and her family? I hope there hasn’t been any conflict during their stay so far?”
I didn’t have an issue with Phoebe’s family staying here temporarily, since they were only looking after their daughter.
My only problem was the fact that I knew my mother and what she was capable of.
Phoebe’s mother had already gotten on her bad side so who knows what diabolical things she had in mind, especially with Elsa by her side?
Anyway, Lyra responded with a smile. “Oh, they’re settling in just fine, sir. They haven’t moved around the mansion much even though I offered them a tour. It seems they don’t want to attract any unwanted attention to themselves.”
How smart…
I sighed with relief, nodding my head to show my understanding.
However, just when I picked up a pen and began looking through the ledgers again, Lyra spoke up with a hesitant tone.
“Uh, sir? There’s something I think you need to know.” She remarked, causing my brows to snap into a frown.
I raised my head and gazed at her with dimmed eyes. “Well? What is it, Lyra? I didn’t go to work today so I want to at least make myself useful with these ledgers. Who knows what those greedy shareholders have–”
“It’s about the affair, Alpha.” Lyra blurted quickly, her voice shaky, showing how nervous she was.
I paused, bringing my gaze to her face again.
Merely hearing about the affair made my blood boil with jealousy.

I didn’t want to hold anything against Phoebe or Negan, but it was hard not to.
Just when Lyra was about to keep on talking, a knock sounded on my door again, prompting me to turn my gaze to it.
“Come in.” I breathed out, my mood completely ruined by Lyra’s brief mention of the affair.
The door creaked open, and to my surprise, the person who walked in was Delta Asher, who had a complicated expression on his face.
Huh… That’s not something you see every day. The Delta coming to my office, that is…
To me, he’s the most laid-back member of the Alpha council. He doesn’t push himself and does just the bare minimum expected of someone in his position.
Unlike the other members who were overachievers in their fields… Like Beta Negan.
“Good morning, Alpha. What I have to tell you is urgent.” The Delta cut straight to the chase, his tone sounding like he was in a haste to say what he had to say.
I glanced at Lyra who seemed just as curious as I was, though she pretended to be looking away.
Sighing to myself, I gestured for the Delta to take a seat, which he did.
“I hope you’ve been doing well, Alpha. I see the Luna has made a comeback into the pack house.” He stated the obvious.
I arched an eyebrow at first but soon responded with a nod. “Yes, she got into an accident and needed urgent care.”
The Delta had a smile on his face and soon began showering me with unnecessary praise. “You really are benevolent. Taking in your Luna after she served you such a hefty betrayal and brought shame to your family is so commendable.”
I tried to retain my cool, but it was hard, especially with the stupid smile on his face.
What part of ‘I don’t want anyone talking about this affair’ did these nobles not understand?
“Is THIS why you’re here, Delta? I thought you said you have something urgent to discuss?” I queried, not bothering to hide my impatience.
I had much more important things to attend to other than making small talk.
It seemed the Delta finally noticed my mood and coughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. “Why, yes, I do. Pardon me for deviating, Alpha. Although, what I want to share with you is related to what I was saying.”
Argh, moon goddess, I was so close to snapping.
I remembered the calming tea from my mother just then and grabbed it, taking a sip while closing my eyes, silently anticipating what the Delta had to say.
I savored its bitter-sweet taste, licking my lips with satisfaction.
At least, the tea is working a little…
“The Luna’s maid confessed in a video that she’s the one responsible for leaking information about the affair and also for fabricating the video of the Beta and Luna.” Delta Asher suddenly revealed, not giving me a break to process his words. “She also killed herself and wrote a suicide note as well.”
…. I guess I spoke too soon.
