Chapter 118: _Other End Of The Blade
How was this possible?
How was Elsa able to overpower me so easily?
In the process of stumbling back from her punch, the glass of tea in my hands fell to the ground, shattering into several pieces.
Meanwhile, Elsa had a menacing look in her eyes as she walked toward me. “So many years, Kaene. I spent so many years fawning over you and trying to prove myself to you that I’m worthy of being your partner. But what did you do when you saw your pathetic mate?”
I ground my jaw, my left fist clenched while the fingers of my right hand wiped off the blood trailing down my nose.
“You’ve committed treason, Elsa. And trust me when I say I’ll gladly throw you in the dungeons for this.” I spat coldly, walking toward her again.
However, she drew out a dagger from the back of her gown and pointed it at my face, her eyes shaking anxiously but also glinting with a murderous light.
Shit was about to get real…
“Do you know how painful it was to watch you pick a lowly maid as your Luna while I just stood and watched from the sidelines?” She continued as if she hadn’t just drawn a weapon to my face.
My gaze went to the dagger pointed at my face just then and I realized something.
It was a silver dagger.
By the moon, Elsa was planning to kill me!
Anyway, she continued with her rant after a little pause. “Nothing I did could ever please you. Phoebe has been the trash in this mansion all this while but you treat me even worse than her. For the moon goddess’ sake, even her cheating on you wasn’t enough to make you realize that she’s not the one for you.”
She couldn’t be serious, right?
I raised my hands slowly, my gaze going from the dagger to her face repeatedly before I spoke. “Listen, Elsa. I know you’re… Hurting, but this isn’t the best way to express yourself. Why don’t we sit down and drop the weapon so we can talk this out?”
My body recoiled with frustration at the feeling of being cornered but I had no choice.
Even as I spoke, my body shivered with an unexplainable weakness that made me feel like my legs were going to give in and I would collapse.
Just then, Elsa sniggered, shaking her head with a mocking look in her eyes. “Don’t you get it, Kaene? I’m not here to talk. I’m here to kill you.”
I gulped as she brought the dagger closer to my neck, her hand tightening around the handle.
I subconsciously glanced back at the window behind me, staring outside as if there was any chance of someone coming to my rescue.
I’d told Lyra to tell the Gamma to distribute the guards in the mansion all around the estate for tonight.
Who would’ve thought that I’d face such a situation?
Suddenly, Elsa continued speaking with a more relaxed demeanor this time. “You know, at one point, I managed to convince my father and Delta Asher to hold on a little longer so I could capture your heart and get you to make me your Luna…”
The first bomb had been dropped.
The Delta and Mr. Thatcher were in on this? Now it makes sense… It was unlikely for Elsa to cook up this idea on her own.
It seemed she wasn’t done with her casual revelations and continued. “When Phoebe left and my father came to you with the offer of making him your Beta and me your Luna, we thought we would no longer have to kill you. But then, your wretched mate had that accident and you just had to bring her back into the mansion.”
I slowly brought my hands down, stepping backward and placing them on top of a table behind me.
My breathing was becoming heavier for some reason and I needed some space away from Elsa’s chattering.
“Aww, is the mighty Alpha suddenly feeling weak?” Elsa asked with sarcasm laced in her voice before she scoffed. “At least, Lyra managed to do something right by placing those tiny dosages of wolfsbane in your mother’s stupid tea.”
My heart dropped when I heard those words. Lyra… She’s a traitor as well?

She was one of the only people I trusted, so this was a huge blow.
But I forgot about all that when I realized something. Lyra was supposed to be with Phoebe at the event hall right now.
Oh no… Who knew what she could do to her?
“The wolfsbane has slowly dwindled your Alpha strength and made you temporarily weaker than an omega.” Elsa cackled maliciously, snapping her neck as her eyes shone with resolve. “Which makes you an easy target for me.”
Weaker than an Omega?
By the moon… Was there any way I could get out of this situation?
It seemed as if all hope was lost as Elsa seemed to be preparing to strike me with the dagger.
However, before she could make any moves, my hands, which were placed on the desk behind me, touched something with a cold and smooth surface.
My eyes widened when I felt what it was. My ticket out of this.
Just when Elsa was about to drive the dagger into my throat, I grabbed the object— a vase and smashed it on her head.
The vase broke into several pieces upon making contact with her head, causing her to stumble backward and drop the dagger which fell to the ground with a clang.
Elsa fell butt-first to the ground, grunting in pain while rubbing her head.
I used that opportunity to rush to the ground, aiming to pick up the dagger, when she suddenly kicked my hand, causing me to stumble backward as well.
My body felt like I was a mere human thanks to the wolfsbane, causing Elsa’s kick to have more pure force.
“Nice try, Kaene boy.” Elsa panted heavily as she struggled to pick up the dagger.
But it seemed she was still disoriented by the vase to her head, making it difficult for her to simply pick up the dagger.
This was my final chance. For Phoebe.
I rushed to Elsa again and soon, a struggle ensued between the two of us, the price being the dagger.
Neither of us wanted to be at the sharp end of the blade but alas, fate had a way of delivering unexpected outcomes.
At the end of the struggle, Elsa gasped as the dagger cut a deep wound on her right arm.
Blood started flowing out from the spot which she gripped as I fell to the ground, the dagger sticking out of my stomach.
I was… Stabbed.
“Your rejected Luna will be coming to see you on the other side, Kaene,” Elsa muttered amidst pained pants as she struggled out of the suite, shutting the door behind her and leaving me there to die.
I heaved heavily, feeling my life slowly slip away from my grasp as my body was soaked by a pool of my own blood.
I stared at the ceiling despite my situation, my mind going to one person only.
“Moon… Moon goddess…” I mumbled, swallowing hard and holding myself back from crying. “P– Please, protect Phoebe. P– Please…”
