Chapter 125: _He Hasn’t Seen ‘Freaky’
As I stood on my balcony thinking about all this, I became more and more impatient.
I couldn’t help it… There was just something so exciting about Phoebe. I couldn’t quite place my fingers on what it was— maybe it was simply because of how refreshingly different she was compared to other werewolves.
Or maybe it was something else.
The point is, I’ll never know if these morons killed her so suddenly.
Without a word, I jumped out of the balcony, landing on the ground below.
Rowland, who’d been silent after my outburst at him, rushed to the edge of the balcony and began questioning me. “Negan, what are you doing? A– Are you–”
“Stay out of this, Rowland,” I stated calmly, my lips curling into a cold smirk as I imagined all the things I’d do to Delta Asher if he didn’t successfully kill the Alpha.
After walking into the night, I blurted to Rowland’s hearing. “I’m going to inspect the Delta’s so-called plan.”
Hopefully, Phoebe hadn’t ingested any of the wolfsbane.
Now that I thought about it, what if that bitchy Alpha’s assistant had tried poisoning her family with the wolfsbane already?
“Gosh, this whole thing is so problematic,” I muttered, chuckling mischievously before blending with the darkness and getting to the event hall as stealthily as possible.
It seemed I got there just in time as I overheard a little commotion.
I placed an invisibility spell on myself and went to the top floor of the hall where I watched everything happening at the bottom floor.
Phoebe was struggling a bit, trying to escape the Delta as he tried shooting her with a gun.
My eyes dimmed as I scrutinized the bullets.
Silver.
“Well, well, well. If he brought so much energy in killing just Phoebe, I wonder what he has in store for Kaene.” I whispered amusingly, not even bothering to make a move.
I didn’t know how I knew, but I just had a feeling Phoebe would escape the hall alive.
Luckily for her, she was able to do just that, leaving the Delta grunting with frustration as he tried refilling his gun with more bullets.
“Lyra, you idiot!” He roared, his face devolving into an ugly scowl. “Get up and go after her! Go after her, for the moon’s sake!”
The Lyra in question was lying on the floor, rolling around and slowly getting up on her feet.
It seemed Phoebe had successfully knocked her out before my arrival.
How impressive.
The more I unraveled about Phoebe, the more enchanted I was by her.
Her will and resilience were fascinating and made me imagine just how much pressure she could handle before breaking.
Oh, that would be a sight to behold.
These morons were going to waste potential by killing her. I wouldn’t allow that, at least not yet.
Before Lyra could advance toward the exit of the hall, I waved my hand, magically causing the huge doors to close with a loud bang that resounded around the dark hall.
A chilling silence fell on the place as Lyra and the Delta looked around like disoriented chickens.
“Was… Was that the wind?” Lyra asked with a shaky tone, her gaze going up as sweat dripped down her face.

Meanwhile, Delta Asher was livid. “What do you mean by ‘wind’? Someone is trying to mess with us.” He snapped, successfully reloading his gun with more silver bullets at that same moment. “Whoever you are, show yourself. I have enough bullets for every one of you against my desire to rule.”
I think I’d listened to the blubbering idiot enough.
With the grace of a bird, I landed on the ground a few meters away from Lyra.
She jumped in fright, taking several steps back while bringing out her claws and pointing them at me. “S– Stay back. I… I don’t–”
Before she could finish, I rushed up to her and grabbed her by the neck, raising her into the air.
She gasped, struggling to catch her breath while clutching her hands around my wrist. She tried using her claws to harm me, but I ignored the pain even as blood trickled down my hand.
A cold grin played on my lips, and at that same moment, the power came back on, and the lights in the hall flickered on.
I swerved my body to face Delta Asher while still holding Lyra in the air, tilting my head when I saw him pointing the gun at me.
“You!” He snarled with gritted teeth, his chest rising and falling while his eyes trembled with fear. “I should’ve made a move to get rid of you first before going for the Alpha and the others. I’ve always known you’ll turn out to be a pain in my ass, Beta.”
Yap, yap and more yapping…
I rolled my eyes, tightening my grip on Lyra’s neck and causing a sound that was similar to a kettle releasing smoke to escape her mouth.
The sound was musical to my ears, making the grin on my face widen. “Even if you made a move on me first, do you think your attempts would’ve worked, Ashley?” I queried.
His eyes twitched with anger as he yelled. “It’s ASHER. My name is Asher, you freak!”
Freak? What, simply because I was holding this pitiful accomplice of his by the neck?
Hehe… He hasn’t even seen my freaky side yet.
“Ashley, Asher… It’s all the same.” I shrugged, my tone showing how bored I was by the situation. “You know, when I began slowly whispering the idea of killing the Alpha in your mind, I told myself that I wouldn’t get rid of you once I eventually take control of this pack for the brotherhood.”
Delta Asher’s face twitched with each word I uttered, his right hand, which held the gun, shaking frantically.
Oh, but I wasn’t even done.
“Your plan was perfect until the part where you decided to touch her,” I stated plainly, but the coldness in my voice was clear.
The Delta seemed confused and asked hesitantly. “Touch who?”
I stared at him for an extended time before muttering. “Phoebe.”
Without another word, I brought out the claws of the hand I held Lyra by the neck with and used them to rip her neck open, blood spilling everywhere in the process.
