Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 126
Chapter 126: _Too Easy
(Warning: Disturbing scene and gore ahead.)
I smiled when Lyra’s warm blood splashed on my face, licking a bit of it off my lips.
Her body wriggled like a worm as her neck slowly began ripping apart under the grip of my claws until her head stuck to the stump of her neck by nothing except some of her loose skin.
Meanwhile, I turned my gaze to Delta Asher, who had a horrified expression on his face.
Without thinking, his muscles tensed and I could guess he was about to shoot me.
However, before he could do that, I lowered Lyra’s body and used it as a meat shield.
She still had some life left in her but that was snuffed away as Delta Asher began shooting at me.
Most of his shots missed us but the rest hit Lyra, riddling her already bloody body with holes until Delta Asher ran out of bullets.
When I heard him struggling to cork his gun and refill it, I flung Lyra’s lifeless body away, shaking my hands in a failed effort to get the blood off me.
“Ugh, look at this mess.” I rolled my eyes, tilting my head as I advanced toward the Delta. “Do you know how much trouble you’ve gotten yourself into? You killed an innocent girl in cold blood.”
Well, she wasn’t exactly innocent. On the contrary, she was a representation of everything rotten in this pack.
What I was trying to do was to get into Asher’s head. Make him vulnerable and play with his guilt until I can use it to my advantage.
It would take a while but it wouldn’t be an impossible task.
“Stay away from me!” He snapped, pointing his empty gun at me. “Y– You’re a monster! That’s what you are, a freak and a monster. No wonder your father–”
My eyes darkened instantly as I grabbed a nearby chair and flung it at him. The chair crashed against the wall a few feet beside him, startling him, but I didn’t end things there and rushed to him.
I was now standing mere inches away from him, my face close to his to the extent that I could smell the fear in his breath and sweat.
“Let’s not bring my father into this, okay?” I muttered, placing my hand on his shoulder.
He was so shaken that he stumbled to the ground, placing his hands in front of his face with terror in his eyes.
I knew what he was going to say the moment he mentioned my father.
It was well known by many elite members of the pack that my father, the past Beta, made it clear that he saw me as an abomination and treated me like a reject, denying me my right as the next Beta.
He wasn’t able to have other children after me and my mother had left his ass anyway, leaving me behind as an infant because of the obvious fact that she was a witch.
But all the other elites knew was that my father hated me… They never knew it was because I’m a hybrid.
Anyway, I brought out a handkerchief and used it to clean off the blood on my face, sighing to myself.
“What am I going to do with you?” I asked out loud, fixing my gaze on the Delta who sat on the floor looking up at me with fear in his eyes.
He shuddered with even more fear but quickly tried to bargain for his life. “P– Please, spare me. I’ll… I’ll save you a spot at the top when I become the Alpha. I’ll… I’ll let you keep your spot as Beta and give you even more power.”
Power?
Hmph, this idiot didn’t even have a basic understanding of the word ‘power’. But I was about to give him a little demonstration.
“Dear, there’s nothing you’re going to offer me that’ll be of much use.” I shrugged, not bothering to hide the boredom in my voice. “And honestly, even if somehow you successfully kill Kaene tonight, what next? Do you think that godfather of yours isn’t going to get rid of you as soon as he realizes that he doesn’t want to share power?”
Delta Asher’s lips trembled, his eyes crumpling with anger as he quickly spat. “Mr. Thatcher wouldn’t dare! I’m… I’m getting married to his daughter, making her the Luna which will make him even more–”
Once again, I got bored and sniggered. “Use your brain, you moron! Even if you ascend as the Alpha, how do you plan to contend against pressure from the other Alpha council members? They’ll all obviously want me to be the next Alpha or at least wait for Elder Gita’s guidance. Would you get rid of all of them then?”

He seemed confused and opened his mouth to say something but I didn’t let him and continued speaking. “When you get rid of them, who will that leave you with? The people who you conspired with to bring chaos to the pack in the first place? How can you trust them then? Who’s to say they wouldn’t lock you up or kill you to get your new Alpha position?”
A small smirk curled up the corner of my lips when I saw the despondent look in Delta Asher’s eyes.
He lowered his head, his hold on the gun in his hand dwindling until it almost fell off his hands.
My eyes went from his pitiful face to the gun and then an idea came to my head.
“Honestly, you’ve gone too far to stop now.” I sighed, pacing around him with slow steps. “Even if you give up, you’ll get hunted down by the Alpha council members, including me. And then only the moon knows what your punishment for killing the Alpha will be. Maybe you’ll get cursed by the moon goddess herself.”
Delta Asher finally snapped, his body shaking with fear as he muttered. “W– What do I do?”
I smirked coldly, bringing my mouth to his ears before whispering. “You know what to do.”
Without another word, I turned my back to him and began walking to the exit of the hall.
It didn’t take long for a resounding bang to echo around the hall, followed by the sound of a body hitting the ground.
I glanced back at the Delta, my smirk turning into a grin when I saw his lifeless body on the ground, the gun in his right hand.
Blood flowed out of his head, soaking the ground with its crimson cloak.
“Too easy…” I mumbled, chuckling to myself before slipping out of the event hall.
