Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 130
Chapter 130: _His Time Isn’t Over
Kaene
~~
It all went black.
I was sure of it. I was sure I was dead.
However, during my descent into darkness, my subconscious could pick up the sound of sobs and someone calling my name.
“Kaene, please wake up…” The voice was like a siren song, drawing me away from the darkness.
However, the darkness was like a black hole, pulling me in forcefully until I felt like I didn’t have a choice.
Until I felt like the darkness was natural. Maybe this is the end.
‘It’s more… Empty than I imagined.’ I thought to myself, trying to scan my gaze around the vast, black emptiness.
Here, I didn’t have a body and my senses seemed obsolete.
However, just when the cries began becoming more distant, a different voice spoke up.
Her voice was like a melody, rejuvenating me and speaking to my very core.
“Your time on this planet… Among my children, Kaene Maverick, isn’t over yet.” The voice echoed around the empty space, but I couldn’t see its source.
Even though I didn’t have a body here, I was somehow able to communicate with this voice. “Who are you? Am I dead?”
The voice only chuckled. It was a feminine, silvery laughter that rang in my ears like bells, sending an unexplainable surge throughout my soul.
“Oh, you aren’t dead, Kaene Maverick.” The voice finally responded, sounding like an amused mother. “At least, not yet. The mate bond you share with Phoebe Skywalker is keeping you alive.”
Phoebe…
Just then, the voice that had been drawing me out of the darkness like a siren song called on me again, causing me to float toward it.
“I realize that the mate bond is beyond the rejection, the betrayal, and the sex. It’s much more than that.” The voice, Phoebe, said with a sadness that pained me.
I wanted nothing more than to touch her again. To hold her face. To have her under my embrace, and feel every inch of her skin like it was my last day on earth.
But will I ever be able to look past what she did?
As if reading my mind, the mysterious silvery voice echoed around me. “She’s right, you know? There are more challenges on the way, Kaene. Challenges that’ll test your resilience and courage.”
Suddenly, the speed with which I used to head toward Phoebe’s voice increased, and the mysterious voice became the distant one alongside the darkness.
“You’ll have Phoebe by your side till the very end. You’ll just have to decide if you’ll let the past stop you from forging a future…” Finally, the mysterious voice faded away, and the darkness slowly encroached with a blinding light.
.
.
I gasped, my consciousness awakening in my body in the real world and my eyes opening wide open only to see Phoebe sitting on the ground beside me with a worried expression on her face and tears flowing down her eyes.
However, her face soon lit up with a smile as she began caressing my face.
To my surprise, she brought her lips to mine and gave me one of the most electrifying kisses ever, causing my body to jolt with a mix of surprise and excitement as I closed my eyes and kissed her back.
Unfortunately for me, the pains that soon began assaulting my body didn’t allow me to enjoy the moment for long as I grunted, causing Phoebe to pull away.

“By the moon, I’m sorry. I… I got carried away.” She stuttered, her hands going to her mouth as her face reddened with a blush.
My lips curled up with a smirk but I wasn’t able to say anything.
Gosh, why was my body still so weak?
“Catherine, he’s awake!” Phoebe screamed with excitement, raising her head and staring at the entrance to the suite. “Kaene is alive!”
Mom…
At that same moment, I heard footsteps followed by the scent of a perfume that I recognized all too well.
My mother soon came to my view, standing at my right with teary eyes and a smile on her face.
“Oh, my sweet boy.” She sobbed, squatting to the ground and hugging me.
A sharp pain surged through my body, my eyebrows furrowing into a frown. But I decided to let her have her moment, weakly raising my right hand and placing it on her back.
“Catherine, he was stabbed with a silver blade and poisoned by something.” Phoebe suddenly blurted, caressing my hair gently. “Did you bring the elixir? We need to carry him to the bed and administer it to him. That’ll stabilize him until the pack doctors get here.”
What in the blood moon was going on here?
In what world did my mother and Phoebe get along and plan things out without arguing?
It seems my current situation was making them get along.
Anyway, Catherine nodded profusely, pulling away from me and joining Phoebe to lift me off the ground and place me on the bed.
As soon as my body landed on the bed, my mother turned her gaze to the door and yelled. “You two, come in now!”
Soon, two maids ran into the room, holding a bowl of water and hot rags.
“The ‘poison’ in his system is wolfsbane. I’m sure of it.” My mother muttered to Phoebe, bringing a small bottle of a shimmering blue liquid just then.
She fixed her gaze on me, using her fingers to caress my face before speaking to me softly. “You’ll have to drink this. It’s not an antidote but it’ll calm down the effects of the silver poisoning and the wolfsbane long enough for the doctor to arrive.”
I managed to nod weakly but still couldn’t even find the strength to talk.
My fists clenched as I thought about my current condition.
I hated how weak I was. I hated how I wasn’t able to get out of bed and search for Elsa and anyone working with her so I could slaughter them and their families.
Once I get out of this bed, I’ll make their lives hell.
Suddenly, the doors burst open again and Elder Gita walked in with a solemn expression on her face, her flowy white gown floating like clouds behind her.
