Chapter 150: _A Threat From The Killer
The stomach of the clothed maid was carved into, making out the spelling of a bone-chilling word.
“Chaos,” I muttered, dimming my eyes at how gory the writing was.
Meanwhile, the Lycan grunted with disgust. “What kind of twisted sicko are we dealing with?”
A smart one, definitely. His tracks were always clean and ever since the killings, we hadn’t even gotten any clue of his identity.
We only confirmed now that he’s male because he raped one of the victims.
“In light of this case, I asked for an autopsy to be made on Brittany’s body.” Gamma Thane suddenly revealed, rubbing his jaw with a solemn expression. “She didn’t commit suicide. She was strangled to death, possibly with the same garden hose used to make it seem like suicide.”
My eyes shone with surprise as I subconsciously glanced at Phoebe at the other end of the garden just then.
To my surprise, Beta Negan had arrived on the scene, speaking to her with a wry smile on his face. She spoke to him as well, folding her arms in front of her chest and keeping her gaze on the ground most times.
With my mother’s confession, I no longer harbored any grudges against Negan. It wasn’t his fault that he got drugged that night.
“The Luna must not know about Brittany’s case.” I turned my gaze back to the Gamma and blurted, my tone neutral. “She already blames herself for the murder of these maids. I don’t want her to feel any worse.”
The Gamma nodded his head with understanding in his eyes.
Meanwhile, the Lycan decided to speak up. “With all due respect, sir, but she’s not even supposed to be here. It’s too dangerous, especially now that we know the killer might have some twisted obsession with her.”
Sigh… As if I didn’t know that.
Before I could say anything else, I heard footsteps approaching and glanced back only to see Beta Negan walking toward us with a calm expression on his face.
“The Luna seemed too distressed so I convinced her to head back to the mansion.” He stated, standing beside me and giving me a knowing look.
I smiled wryly, tapping him lightly on his shoulder and whispering a ‘thank you’.
With that out of the way, the Council and I placed our gazes back on the dead body.
“Chaos.” Negan read out the carving on the body’s stomach, his expression contorting into a frown. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Gamma Thane sighed, folding his arms in front of his chest. “That’s what we’re trying to uncover. Maybe it’s just him trying to mess with our heads?” He suggested.
However, I shook my head, not convinced at all. “Everything this person did has been thought out perfectly. From the poisoning at the Luna ball to the way he handled Miranda’s killing before she could go to Elder Gita for help. And then finally… Brittany’s murder.”
Beta Negan paused, glancing at me with confusion etched on his face. “Murder? I thought it’s been established that she killed herself?” He queried.
I drew in a deep breath, glancing at Gamma Thane who was quick to give him an explanation. “New findings from an autopsy result this morning show that she was killed. She was strangled to death, if we’re going to be more specific.”
The Beta seemed speechless, using his hands to brush back some strands of his hair.
The whole thing was a mess!
“If this ‘Chaos’ writing is a message of sorts, then what?” Lycan Davos blurted when no one said anything for a few seconds. “Is he promising us chaos? What kind? More killings? Who’s going to be next if that’s the case?”
Well, so far he’s killed people connected to Phoebe in one way or the other. Even the victims of the Luna ball poisoning were killed to prevent her from being poisoned.
“The Luna seems to be an integral part of his plan,” I muttered thoughtfully, rubbing my chin. “It’s almost as if he’s protecting her in some of these cases. But it’s clear that he has a bigger plan. All this is going to lead to something huge, I can feel it.”
The others remained silent, staring at me and waiting for what I had to say.
I folded my arms in front of my chest, deciding to tell them my recent plans with Phoebe. “The Luna and I have decided to get married, the human way. The event we’re going to throw to lure out the killer will be a ‘Winter Wedding’.”

They glanced at themselves, smiling while nodding their heads.
“This is great news, Alpha!” The Lycan blurted with a cheery smile.
He was probably mostly happy for the free booze he’ll be getting but I didn’t mind.
However, Negan sounded uncertain. “Are we going to sacrifice such an important event just to fish out this guy?”
I paused, my lips drawing into a thin line.
It was supposed to be a special moment, but if things worked out as planned, we could finally capture a killer that had done so much damage to the pack already.
Killing all these maids might seem like nothing, but he was messing with Phoebe’s psyche.
And if she was troubled, I was troubled. Literally. The mate bond seemed to share our emotions to some level now.
“We have no other choice, Negan.” I sighed, shaking my head. “It’s either this or we sit around like chickens waiting to be slaughtered. I will not let this bastard continue to threaten our pack or my Luna.”
Negan stared at me for a few seconds before nodding his head with a solemn expression.
I smiled wryly before fixing my gaze on the Gamma. “Please, send emissaries to the families of the deceased and cover this up as much as possible. Also, place as many pack soldiers as possible in this garden. And then finally, we need to start making arrangements to ensure security is tight on the wedding day.”
The Gamma nodded, causing me to breathe deeply. We’ll be facing this bastard head-on.
Let’s see what ‘chaos’ he has in store.
