Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 151
Chapter 151: _Pack Shenanigans

After Negan left my suite that night after his weird display, Kaene came in with serious news.
Catherine confessed.
And what did the woman confess to? Well, just everything that I already suspected her of doing.
From drugging me and Beta Negan on that fateful night to the failed poisoning at the Luna Ball… The woman was just too diabolical.
That’s why I was having a hard time believing she’s suddenly changed for the better simply because I saved Kaene’s life.
Anyway, to my surprise, after telling me all this, Kaene also asked for my opinion on the right punishment to be given to her.
If I’m being honest… I would love to subject her to all the sufferings I went through when I first got here. But I was low-key in a good mood so I decided to just go with whatever punishment Kaene was going with.
After all, it’s almost unheard of that an Alpha would seek his Luna’s opinion for anything.
I considered myself lucky.
Anyway, after a night of raunchy sex, we both woke up to some disturbing news.
Two more maids were found dead at the ‘cursed gardens’. They were the maids I got fired the previous day. And the scene was nothing short of horrific.
The garden was littered with blood and several pack soldiers were positioned at different spots, doing necessary investigations alongside the Alpha Council members.
“Stay here. Let me and my council handle this. This is no place for a woman.” Kaene said to me before following the council members to inspect one of the bodies.
As troubled and shaken as I was by the whole thing, my hands balled into fists as I watched Kaene leave with his Council members.
No place for a woman? What’s that supposed to mean?
“Is he trying to say that I’m weak?” I muttered to myself, folding my arms in front of my chest.
Maybe I was weak. After all, if I had the balls needed for a Luna of the Blue Moon pack, I wouldn’t have hesitated in giving Catherine a suitable punishment for all the atrocities she committed.
She indirectly caused the deaths of two elite members of the werewolf society. She framed a Beta and the Moon’s Chosen.
Wasn’t that leaning toward blasphemy?
“Maybe I shouldn’t have come out here in the first place.” I sighed, using my right hand to part away some strands of my hair. “Maybe this place really is no place for a woman.”
I stared at Kaene, who stood in the distance with his Council members. He had his back facing me and they all seemed troubled by whatever they were inspecting.
Suddenly, a deep but friendly voice interrupted my thoughts just then. “What’s all the fuss about?”
I jolted in surprise, swerving my head to the source of the voice. It was none other than Negan, who had a wide grin on his face.
Well, that’s a welcome sight. Last night he seemed so stone cold and distant.
“Negan, good morning. I don’t think it’s appropriate to have such a wide smile on your face considering…” I paused, turning my gaze to a patch of blood on the grass underneath my feet.
I gulped, shuddering slightly before I continued. “Well, considering the situation we’re facing right now.”
Negan stared at me for a few seconds before looking away, fixing his gaze on Kaene and the other members of the Alpha Council in the distance.

“How did things go between you and Kaene last night?” He asked curiously, placing his arms behind his back.
I sighed, glancing at Kaene briefly. At that same moment, he also glanced at me, a troubled expression on his face.
However, his eyes softened when our gazes met, causing my face to redden with a blush as I looked away from him.
“It seems things went swimmingly.” Negan teased when he saw the brief interaction, chuckling soon after.
I scoffed, even though there was a stupid smirk on my face.
“He told me… A lot of things last night, Negan. I don’t even know where to start.” I fiddled with my fingers, hesitating on if I should tell him about Catherine’s confession.
Would Negan take the news as lightly as me?
Yes, he was kind and all, but what Catherine did was just too diabolical. I was scared of even telling my parents, knowing they wouldn’t take the whole thing lightly as well.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to talk about it.” Negan blurted just then, shrugging to show he didn’t mind. “But I really think you should go back to the mansion and rest.”
My lips pouted as I glanced at him before clicking my tongue. “Let me guess… You think this place is no place for a woman as well, right? Because women aren’t meant to be close to violence or complex politics.” I remarked.
Negan’s eyes widened as he fixed his gaze on me. “Where did you get that idea from? I mean, yes, I don’t think you should be here but it’s not because you’re a woman. It’s because you’re obviously disturbed by this.” He explained.
Oh…
I placed my hand over my mouth, swallowing a little saliva before I spoke. “I guess you’re right.”
Beta Negan shook his head, placing his hand briefly on my shoulder. “You’re the strongest, most resilient woman I know. Who else in this pack can boast of doing all you did? Escaping the Delta and being there for Kaene is no easy feat. All the bullying you’ve endured is no easy feat as well.”
For whatever reason, hearing him say all that seemed to lift a lot of weight off my shoulders.
I smiled, bowing slightly. “Why, thank you, my good friend.”
He chuckled, shaking his head before withdrawing his hand and walking toward Kaene and the others. “Please, go back to the mansion and take care of yourself. Let us handle this.” He said with a calming voice.
With that, he left me standing there, as I clutched the hem of my dress.
After taking one final glance at the garden, I sighed heavily before walking out of there, clasping my palms together.

When I finally got to the Alpha mansion, I could barely acknowledge the greetings of staff members that I walked past.
My mind was too occupied by the horrid scene I just left. But also, about my little argument with Kaene.
Honestly, I wasn’t satisfied with Catherine’s punishment. I wanted her to go through more pain.
Stripping her of her ‘former Luna’ title and all the benefits and respect that came with it was barely enough.
“This pack and its shenanigans are getting exhausting,” I muttered, rubbing my forehead with a heavy sigh when I got to the staircase.
All I wanted was to have a long bath before finding my mother and seeking solace in her arms.
However, just when I began climbing the first few steps, I met someone on my way who was the last person I wanted to see right now.
“Can we talk?”
