Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 152
Chapter 152: _Can’t Forgive Her
“Can we talk?”
The person in question was none other than Catherine, who had a warm smile on her face.
However, in light of everything Kaene told me, I saw her smile as a mask.
Only the moon knows when she’s going to take off that mask and show her true colors again.
Folding my arms in front of my chest, I arched an eyebrow before I asked. “Talk about what, ma’am? Did I do something wrong again? Am I being a burden to your plans?”
I made sure to sound as sarcastic as possible, my gaze cold and devoid of any kindness I might’ve displayed in the past few days.
Catherine paused, seeming surprised by my response. Well, she shouldn’t be.
I scoffed, placing my hand on the rail as I continued walking. “No offense, ma’am, but I’ve had a long day today. And it’s not even nine AM yet. I just want to go have a long bath and avoid any more drama.” I said plainly.
However, just before I could walk past her, she grabbed my shoulder, causing me to swerve my head to her with a frown on my face.
To my surprise, her eyes shook with sadness as she muttered. “Please, let’s talk. I need to talk to you.”
My heart softened just then as my shoulders slouched.
I couldn’t help it. Maybe I’m too soft-hearted.
Sighing, I yanked my shoulder gently out of her grip before nodding my head. “Fine.”
With that, I continued walking, with Catherine following behind me.
We finally got to my suite after which I closed the door behind me, standing in front of it with my arms folded in front of my chest.
“Sorry for the mess.” I sighed when I fixed my gaze on the bed which was still untidy from me and Kaene’s steamy night.
I’ll have to call in some maids to come tidy up the place.
“It’s fine.” Catherine blurted with a knowing smile, before clearing her throat. “I believe Kaene has told you all the things I told him last night.”
I looked away, remaining silent.
Seeing this, she sighed before continuing. “I’ll take that as a yes. Anyway, I don’t want to waste any more of your time. I just want you to know that I’m deeply sorry and regret everything that happened. If there’s any punishment you want to give me for my actions, I–”
“That’s the thing, Catherine…” I interrupted her, my tone regaining its coldness. “I didn’t give you any punishment. I just went with what Kaene had already given you. Why did I do that?”
I paused, staring at her coldly as if she could answer the question for me.
However, she pinched her elbow, looking away from me with an embarrassed look on her face.
I scoffed, shaking my head with a wry smile on my face. “I don’t know why I chose to be lenient. All I know is that I’m tired of the drama. It’s been one drama to the other since the first day I was made the Moon’s Chosen.” I lamented.
I kept my gaze on her, taking a few steps forward. “You almost killed me, Catherine. Twice. The poisoning at the Luna Ball wasn’t the only time. You also got those maids to beat me up, remember? Kaene never got to know about that.”
She lowered her gaze, biting her lips bitterly. “I’m a terrible person.” She blurted.
But I shook my head, finally diverting my gaze away from her. “You’re more than that. You have a tainted and entitled view of how things are supposed to go among our kind. People like you give werewolves a bad rep.” I stated casually.
Catherine’s lips were parted, but she couldn’t say anything. She remained silent, staring at me with a sad look in her eyes.
But I wasn’t falling for that bullshit.

“If you’re seeking my forgiveness, I’m sorry, but I can’t promise you that,” I stated after a few moments of silence. “Yes, I wouldn’t get Kaene to give you a harsher punishment. But it’ll take more than a few heartfelt words to make me forgive all you and Elsa put me through.”
I stared at her for a few more seconds before stepping away from the door.
I turned my back to her, stripping out of my clothes in silence.
It didn’t take long for me to hear her retreating footsteps, accompanied by her opening the door and closing it behind her.
With her gone, I sighed, balling my hands into fists.
Gosh, it was taking everything inside me not to lash out at Catherine! I needed a medium to vent and unfortunately, I didn’t have anyone.
Negan would’ve been a good option, but I was afraid he would want vengeance against Catherine if he got to find out about this.
“Oh well. Hopefully, we’re able to find the killer during that wedding and then that’ll be the end of all the drama.” I shrugged, dropping my clothes on the king-sized bed before walking into the bathroom.
I stepped into the bathtub after preparing the water, breathing out in relief when the warm water touched my skin.
However, just when I was about to dive into the most peaceful parts of my psyche— or at least, what was left of it, I heard the suite door burst open.
By the moon! What now?
“Whoever that is, come back later! I’m in desperate need of a bath, and I don’t want anyone disturbing me right now.” I yelled out, closing my eyes and dipping my entire body into the waters, leaving only my eyes above.
Unfortunately for me, whoever the person was didn’t listen and instead began stepping closer toward the bathroom, their footsteps echoing as they did.
My eyebrows furrowed into a frown as my heart began beating faster.
With everything I saw in the ‘cursed garden’ today, I was convinced now more than ever that the killer was obsessed with me.
Why else would he kill two maids who proved to be a nuisance?
However, there was still one question nagging at the back of my head. What if I’m his next target?
I brought my nose out of the water, using my hand to wipe my face before I spoke out. “Who’s there?!”
Suddenly, my nose was assaulted with a familiar scent.
