Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 153
Chapter 153: _Feisty Luna
“Kaene?” I blurted out loud, sighing with relief when the scent became stronger.
Soon, he popped his head into the bathroom, a slight smirk curling up his lips.
“Aww, you’re bathing without me?” He asked with a playful pout on his lips.
However, I rolled my eyes, settling back into the bathtub before I responded. “Are you guys done with your investigations already?”
He sighed heavily, stepping into the bathroom.
I saw the way his eyes lingered on the bathtub with an almost hungry look, but unfortunately, my body was hidden away from his view inside the water.
“We aren’t done with investigations. The Gamma is sending emissaries to the families of the deceased. Security has also been increased in that garden since it seems to be the go-to place for the culprit to make his kills.” Kaene explained calmly.
I stared at him, the tension in my gaze dissipating and my shoulders slouching as I began playing around with the water.
There was a heavy weight on my chest as I thought about the maids and the possibility that they were killed because of me.
It seemed Kaene noticed my mood as he squatted beside the bathtub, using his hand to caress my wet face.
“Hon, what’s wrong?” He asked, his voice soft.
Surprisingly enough, his voice soothed a bit of the pressure in my chest as I leaned closer to his hand, closing my eyes and sighing. “I just feel so bad for those girls. I feel so bad that all these deaths might be my–”
Before I could finish that statement, Kaene grabbed my jaw gently, shushing me while shaking his head.
“Don’t. Don’t even start.” He said calmly, his intense gaze focused on my eyes. “What happened to those girls is not your fault. It’s not your fault that the killer does what he does. People are just… Twisted.”
He looked away, breathing heavily. “Listen, I know how frustrating this must be. How helpless you must feel.”
I scoffed silently, looking away from him as well. “Right. Because I’m nothing but a weak woman.” I said plainly.
Kaene paused, bringing his gaze back to me. “What are you talking about?” He asked.
I brought my gaze back to him as well, folding my arms in front of my chest. “Oh, you’ve forgotten so soon? You told me that the garden is no place for a woman.”
His eyes fluttered with disbelief as he shook his head. “Wait, you aren’t seriously about to argue about THAT, are you?” He asked with dimmed eyes.
I tilted my head, shrugging my shoulders. “And what if I decide to argue? You’re probably not going to take me seriously because I’m just a woman. A feeble beauty whose only purpose is to be the pack’s pretty Luna and your mate.”
If I said his words in the garden didn’t strike a nerve, I’d be lying. I mean, for the past few days, he’s been all about me making decisions and stuff like that.
Heck, he even sought my opinion on what punishment should be given to his mother.
I thought he was finally changing. I thought his views were finally modernizing with the rest of the world or something.
But a werewolf will always be a werewolf, I guess.
“Phoebe, what I said wasn’t wrong at all.” Kaene stood up just then, his jaw clenched as he stared at me. “You were clearly disturbed. All that blood and gore isn’t somewhere I’d want for you. I was trying to protect you.”
My gaze softened briefly as I began to get his point. Maybe I was a bit hasty with my judgment.
But still, I didn’t want to concede and kept my arms folded in front of my chest. “I think it’s been long established that I’m capable of taking care of myself.” I blurted.
Suddenly, Kaene chuckled softly, squatting back on the floor again. He placed his hand on the back of my head, caressing my hair and forcing me to turn my gaze to him.
“Yes, it has, my love. You’re the fiercest, feistiest, most resilient woman I’ve ever seen.” He whispered into my ears, managing to melt my heart with his words.

I gulped, staring into his beautiful eyes and taking in the musky scent of his cologne.
My heart began racing as his gaze went from my eyes to my lips and then back to my eyes again.
Slowly, he began bringing his right hand into the water while he kept his left hand behind my head, all this while he still maintained eye contact.
“Mi Esposa Caliente.” He muttered, a teasing smirk curling up his lips as his right hand touched my thighs underneath the water.
My body shook with excitement at his touch, causing my face to heat up with a blush.
And then, it happened.
I didn’t know who made the first move, but our lips met in a passionate kiss that made my head swell.
As we kissed, Kaene’s grip on the back of my head became a bit more possessive as his hand went up my thighs and found its way to my entrance.
I moaned softly, placing my right hand on his shoulder and using my left hand to touch his shirt, gripping it like my life depended on it.
It was then that Kaene pulled away from the kiss, breathing heavily with a wide grin on his face. “W– We haven’t even had breakfast yet.” He mumbled.
But I shook my head, whispering into his ears. “I don’t care.”
Without another word, I tightened my grip on his shirt and pulled him into another kiss.
The contrast between the musky scent of his cologne and the flower-scented water brought sparks in my mind as I started taking off his buttons one by one as if there was a prize underneath.
“And there’s the feistiness I’m talking about.” He said with a growl, getting off the ground and unbuckling his belt.
He flung it aside, dropping his pants and his underwear to the ground, bringing his throbbing rod to my view.
