Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 156
Chapter 156: _Life Of Her Dreams
Everyone gawked at Negan speechlessly.
My family, probably because they were shocked about what Catherine did.
And then Kaene and I because he just casually claimed to know.
How?
“Oh, you all should relax.” Negan waved with a playful smile on his face. “I’m not a mind reader or anything. But I got to know not too long ago after my butler confessed. He told me how former Luna Catherine threatened him if he didn’t slip the aphrodisiac into me and Phoebe’s drinks.”
The silence was deafening. If a pin were to fall, the sound would echo around the dining room.
However, that silence didn’t last for long as my mother swerved her head to Catherine. “Just when I thought your wickedness had its limits. How could you, Madam Catherine?”
Kaene’s mother lowered her head, gritting her teeth. “I’m sorry. I know all the things I did were wrong and probably unforgivable–”
“Probably? You drugged our daughter while she was in heat!” My mother snapped, all the warmth she’d shown a few seconds ago disappearing as she got up.
However, she placed her hand in front of her mouth, coughing a bit all while still glaring at Catherine.
“Do you know the kind of danger you put her in?” My mother continued, clearly showing restraint by not moving forward and smacking the former Luna.
Meanwhile, Catherine remained silent, allowing my mother to pour out her frustrations.
“Her misdeeds don’t end there, sadly.” Kaene suddenly muttered, playing around with the food in front of him with a blank expression on his face.
He glanced at his mother briefly, disappointment flashing through his eyes before he spoke. “Tell them, mother. The jig is up. They all have to know your sins.”
His tone was calm yet had a coldness that was hard to miss.
I glanced at Kaene, feeling like reaching out and touching his face. But I held myself back, fixing my gaze back on Catherine.
She ended up confessing everything, explaining how she wanted to poison me at the Luna Ball and also explaining how she intentionally leaked the clip of Negan and me to the elites when it seemed like none of her plans to get me out of her son’s life worked.
Each word she said made everyone apart from me and Kaene either gasp or blink their eyes speechlessly.
The seemingly nonchalant Negan was no exception as he gulped his drink.
When Catherine was finally done with her confession, my mother sat back in her seat, placing her hands on her chest and shaking her head dramatically.
“Goddess, have mercy.” She whispered, looking away from Catherine and remaining silent.
My father tried comforting her, placing his hands on her shoulder and leaning closer to her.
“Well, that was a lot of information to digest.” Negan sniggered, shaking his head. “But what’s been done is done. The only thing we can do now is look for a way forward. I don’t think there’s anyone on this table that doesn’t have their own share of skeletons in their cupboard.”
He paused, scanning his gaze around. The silence from everyone was enough of an answer to his statement.
“Pardon me, Beta, but you’re not mad at her?” Caleb was forced to ask, staring at Negan with more disbelief.
The Beta shrugged, a wry smile curling up his lips. “I was unfortunate enough to be caught in the middle of it. Whatever happens now is left for the Alpha to decide.” He remarked, glancing briefly at Kaene.
It was then that Kaene cleared his throat before speaking. “Well, the Luna and I decided to strip Catherine of her title of ‘former Luna’ as well as all the privileges and respect assigned with the title. This will be announced at the wedding, of course.”
However, my mother scoffed, tilting her head. “With all due respect, Alpha, but that’s unjust! My– My daughter was drugged. She would have been killed if it weren’t for the intervention of the goddess!” She exclaimed.
Sigh…

If only she knew the so-called ‘intervention’ was the timely manipulation of a psychopathic killer out there.
It was funny how I owed my life to the same person who was casually slaughtering people in our pack. But it was also a terrifying thought, one that I didn’t want to bother myself with right now.
“I believe her punishment should be stricter. Don’t you think, Phoebe?” My mother turned her gaze to me just then, arching an inquisitive eyebrow.
I gulped, glancing at Kaene before gulping down the rest of my glass of wine.
“Actually, Mother, I’m the one who gave the Alpha the go-ahead for the punishment,” I revealed, scratching the back of my head. “I don’t mind. Catherine seems to have turned a new leaf, after all.”
My mother and father stared at each other in disbelief before turning their gazes back to me.
However, before my mother could say anything else, my father placed his hand on top of hers, signaling her to stop.
“We are happy at your benevolence, Alpha Kaene and Luna Phoebe.” He remarked, smiling at us and bowing his head slightly. “We’re sure you’ve made the right choice concerning Catherine’s punishment.”
It was clear that he was saying all that to avoid more drama.
My father had always been the most protective of me, but he was also the most rational. My mother, on the other hand, was more outspoken and wouldn’t stand any harm to her children.
Anyway, the dining room was silent again as everyone went back to eating and drinking after such a shocking revelation was let out.
I exchanged awkward glances with Kaene who seemed a bit ticked off, probably embarrassed by his mother’s actions.
I was angry at myself at first for not being able to give Catherine a harsher punishment, but this was probably for the best.
Things were finally working out for the better. The life that I could only dream of now seemed within reach.
I didn’t want any prolonged drama to ruin any of that.
Suddenly, Negan spoke up with a cheery voice. “Well, now that we have all that out of the way, let’s talk about the wedding.”
Soon enough, smiles started appearing on the faces of everyone present.
Perfect…
