Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 159
Chapter 159: _Circus Family

I only intended to use those two maids as a causal means of releasing my sexual frustration.
But then a juicy idea came in.
What if I simply used their unfortunate demise as a means to an end?
Every single werewolf in this pack was just chess pieces in a much bigger game, after all.
So I went with my plan and used their deaths to plant a seed.
A seed of chaos.
And so far, it was working splendidly.
Kaene and his Council were on their toes after they saw the cryptic message I left on the body of one of the maids. Phoebe was questioning her strength as Luna.
I could feel the tension from the other staff members, particularly the pack soldiers who were there to witness the scene.
Everything was perfect.
Anyway, after Kaene dismissed the other members of the Alpha Council, he called me back, his hand wrapped around my elbow.
“Hey, I know things have been… Awkward between us.” He said with a calm expression, trying not to sound sentimental.
I glanced around at the garden, my eyes glinting with amusement when I saw the troubled looks on the faces of the guards who helped carry the bodies of the maids out of the so-called ‘cursed garden’.
But I was quick to hide that amusement, turning my gaze back to Kaene. “Yes, I understand, Alpha. After the… Incident, I wouldn’t blame you for not being able to trust me anymore.” I remarked with a wry smile.
Ugh, here we go talking about feelings when the only thing I could imagine was sticking a knife through his throat by myself.
But that would be too easy.
I had another plan cooking…
“No, no, no. It’s not that I don’t trust you anymore.” Kaene tried to explain, sighing and rubbing his forehead. “You know what? Why don’t you come over for breakfast? We can talk more extensively there and then maybe you’ll get the clarity that I’ve gotten.”
Clarity?
I squinted my eyes, pondering his offer.
On one hand, I loathed the idea of joining him and his circus family for breakfast. But on the other hand… Maybe I could use this to my advantage to get more information.
Not as if I couldn’t get information without dining with him, anyway.
“Sure. I really appreciate your kindness, Alpha.” I bowed slightly, plastering a smile on my face.
However, Kaene placed his hand on my shoulder, shaking his head abruptly. “You know there’s no need for the titles outside formal Council meetings, right?” He asked with a smile.
Well… That’s an interesting development.
I decided to return his smile, nodding my head. “Very well, Kaene. See you at breakfast.”
With that, I watched Kaene walk out of the garden, leaving me there to stare at him with curiosity.

“Really? Breakfast?” Rowland asked with an amused expression when I told him the latest developments back at my private residence.
I smirked, nodding my head while adjusting the attire I planned to wear for the gathering.
I knew it was going to be a spectacle with Catherine there. And if it doesn’t turn out to be one… I could always spice things up by myself.
“And then what? He’ll make you the best man for his so-called ‘Winter Wedding’?” Rowland sniggered, gulping a drink in his hands.
I smirked, swerving my head to him. “I’m supposed to be the Alpha’s best friend, Rowland. Playing that role to the best of my abilities will be beneficial in the long run. Besides, this only means that the idiot is trusting me again.” I shrugged at the end, heading for the door.
However, Rowland faked a cough, forcing me to pause in my tracks.
“Or maybe you found the perfect excuse to hang out with your precious rejected Luna.” He teased, chuckling soon after. “Oh, she’s technically no longer a rejected Luna.”
I would’ve considered giving him a response, but I couldn’t be late for breakfast now, could I? Being late wasn’t my jam.
“Don’t wait up, Rowland.” I glanced back at him, giving him a wink before I walked out of there.
When I got to the Alpha mansion, I received a warm welcome from the guards.
I responded to them with smiles, finding it amusing when I remembered that I’d sneaked into here the previous night to hunt down those girls.
“Idiots…” I mumbled to myself as I walked through the grand foyer of the mansion, navigating my way to the dining room.
Once I got there, I met Phoebe’s family, and Catherine sitting there.
Phoebe’s mother and father were discussing hell knows what, with Caleb chiming in once in a while.
As for Catherine, she was… Oddly distant.
“Aunt Catherine,” I called out when I stepped forward, patting her on her shoulder.
However, she jolted in surprise at first, turning her head to stare at me.
I dimmed my eyes at her reaction.
Why was she so jumpy all of a sudden?
“Ah, Beta Negan!” Phoebe’s father exclaimed just then with a warm smile on his face as he got up and bowed. “It’s so nice to see you again.”
I returned his smile, walking up to him and shaking his hand. “The feeling is mutual, Mr. Skywalker. I’m glad your family is healing after all the unnecessary chaos plaguing your lives.”
I glanced at Catherine at the last part, a corner of my lips curling up into a smirk.
Oh, this was going to be FUN.
Anyway, after settling down beside Phoebe’s brother, the ‘king and queen’ finally decided to grace us with their presence.
They made sure to have a thorough bath, but I could still pick up the slight musky smell of pheromones and sex.
Hmph… They could enjoy their fun for now.
It didn’t take long for things to get heated after Phoebe and Kaene sat for breakfast.
Catherine ended up confessing all her sins after I slyly admitted that I knew she drugged Phoebe and I.
It was way too easy.
However, after a brief argument, everyone at the table seemed to move past her misdeeds to focus on the upcoming winter wedding.
“We’ll see how the fairytale wedding goes soon enough,” I muttered to myself when I excused myself from the mansion after breakfast.
