Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 162
Chapter 162: _Pesky Hunters
“Duck!
It seemed my yell was enough to snap Phoebe out of her moment of shock.
However, it was too late for her to move away for safety as the bomb exploded, sending smoke and wooden shards everywhere.
Luckily for her, I caught her before she could get hit by the blast and ran out of its radius, landing a few meters away from it with her underneath me.
I slowly opened my eyes, my gaze landing on her breasts underneath her wedding gown which were now both popping out invitingly.
Before I could get too carried away, Phoebe opened her eyes as well, breathing heavily.
“T– Thank you, Negan.” She stuttered, her eyelids fluttering.
I took that as a signal to reluctantly get off her body, controlling myself before my little soldier could stand up.
Now wasn’t the time for that.
I stretched my hand to Phoebe, helping her get up before trying to peer through the smoke to get a view of what was happening.
All around the hall, I heard three other blasts, all coming in quick succession, the pitiful screams of the wolves filling the air.
“This… This is…” Phoebe was left speechless, rubbing her eyes and trying to comprehend what was happening.
It was then that realization hit her and her eyes trembled with trepidation. “C– Catherine. M– My family!” She screamed.
Before I knew what was happening, she held up her gown and tried running through the smoke toward her family below the stage, but I reacted quickly.
I grabbed her right elbow, holding her back despite all her attempts to get out of my grip.
“Let go of me! Please, I have to see my family.” She pleaded, staring back at me with tears trickling down her face.
For an odd reason, I almost felt pity for her. Almost.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t afford to let the little Luna die yet.
“We’ll search for them later.” I tightened my grip slightly on her elbow, trying to sound reassuring. “But right now, we need to ensure our safety. Your life as Luna is important, Phoebe. Preserving it IS important.”
Gosh, I deserve an Oscar for that speech!
She blinked at me with uncertainty in her eyes at first, until another explosion sounded again, jolting her back to reality.
“Okay, okay…” She nodded profusely, prompting me to let go of her.
She hurried toward Kaene’s location, yelling out his name through the smoke while I stood there, trying to link back with Rowland.
‘What the hell is going on out there?’ I asked, feeling my irritation rise.
If there was one set of people I hated just as much as pure-blood werewolves, it was Hunters.
Humans who made it their life’s mission to hunt down and kill supernaturals simply because we’re ‘different’.
I’ve killed a good number of them before and would gladly do it again if they weren’t currently helping me burn down the pack.
‘It’s absolute chaos out here, Negan!’ Rowland exclaimed excitedly in my mind. ‘The bodies are piling up from both sides. These hunters seem to be very sneaky and skilled. I’m just wondering how they were able to figure out the pack’s location.’
There was something fishy about the attack.
This wasn’t the first Hunter attack the pack had faced, but this estate has always been a haven.

Well, before I began killing maids and elites like flies, that is.
In the decades of this pack’s existence, no Hunter group has managed to decipher that the estate was a gathering place for our pack.
What changed?
‘Save your ass, Rowland. I’ll be disappointed if you get killed by a pesky Hunter.’ I remarked in the telepathic link.
He sniggered from the other end before blurting. ‘Nah, I can’t get killed by food. Besides, I should be the one telling you that. With you being so distracted by your rejected Luna, of course.’
What in the unholy hell?!
Before I could say anything in rebuttal, Rowland cut off the telepathic link, leaving my mind quiet.
How dare he?!
“I’ll punish the idiot later,” I mumbled to myself, a slight smirk curling up the corner of my lips when I saw Phoebe walking back to me, holding Kaene by his hands.
The poor Alpha had a solemn expression on his face, but apart from that… There was rage.
Pure rage that was so strong I could almost feel it as if it were tangible.
“It’s a Hunter attack,” I announced to him, making sure my tone was as somber as possible.
He nodded, his eyes seeming distant as he muttered. “My mother is dead.”
Oh, snap! The bitch was finally dead.
I was almost considering killing her myself.
However, I had to keep my good facade and lowered my gaze, clenching my fists in a fake show of anger. “Those bastards will pay! Our soldiers are fighting out there. Let’s go join them and help our people escape.”
And by that, I meant let’s go watch the pandemonium out there and maybe get some popcorn.
Kaene nodded in agreement before his eyes glowed with a blue light.
A howl escaped his mouth as he stepped away from Phoebe, his bones snapping and his skin getting covered with fur as he slowly shifted into a huge white wolf with piercing blue eyes.
He snarled, glancing at me and nodding his head toward Phoebe before sprinting through the smoke.
Aww, he left me in charge of watching over her.
How delusionally sweet of him.
“We have to find my family.” Phoebe suddenly mumbled, glancing at me with a deep sadness in her eyes. “I need to know if they’re alive. Promise me you’ll help me find them.”
She held my shoulder, forcing me to stare directly into her eyes.
While she begged me to help her find her family, my gaze fell on her full lips and then trailed down to her breasts which were begging for release.
The chaos around us was a great mood-setter for me, and I had to control my lust from taking hold.
Focus, Negan.
“Of course, Phoebe.” I nodded my head reassuringly, causing her to smile.
With that, we stuck close and leaped off the stage, but before we could head to the exit, a voice that I’d almost forgotten about called us from behind.
“Wait!”
We turned back only to see Elder Gita walking toward us, her flowy white robe stained with debris and blackened by dust.
Ugh, what now?
