Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 173
Chapter 173: _Blue Moon Stone
I watched Kaene and Phoebe hold each other close and take the lead, running ahead of me as we navigated our way out of the mist of wolfsbane.
I could still hear the shouting of Hunters outside the smoke, but none of them dared to enter and face three ‘beasts’.
“Kill them!” One of them yelled from outside the smoke.
Oh, I guess they’ve abandoned the idea of capturing us for their experiments.
Without any warning, gunshots sounded all around us, bullets swishing through the smoke.
Many of them missed but the few that were close to hitting us got blocked by my telekinesis.
Discreetly, of course.
“We’re almost there,” Kaene yelled, his hands placed protectively on Phoebe’s waist.
For an odd reason, seeing that made me feel sick to my stomach.
I gritted my teeth, lowering my hand and hence letting one of the bullets hit our beloved Alpha.
Luckily for him, the Hunters couldn’t aim perfectly and were only able to hit his left shoulder.
“Fuck!” He grunted, placing his hand on the wounded area while gritting his teeth.
Phoebe gasped, lowering her head and wrapping her arms around his shoulder. “Oh my gosh! Kaene, you… You got–”
“I’m fine!” He retorted, waving his hand dismissively and helping himself up. “Compared to what I faced with Elsa that night, this is just a flesh wound.”
Hmph… Being hit by a silver bullet was now a ‘flesh wound’?
I’d love to see how he’d feel when I shove my claws through his heart.
Anyway, we finally made our way out of the smoke, giving our wolves space to recover from the wolfsbane.
The magic of my witch side gave me more resistance, but I couldn’t show that and instead pretended like the poison affected me more than it actually did.
“W– We made it.” I stuttered, panting heavily and glancing back.
It was then that I realized all the Hunters from every corner surrounding us, pointing their weapons at us and advancing slowly toward us.
“We have them cornered!” One of them yelled with a mischievous smirk.
“Should we still kill them?”
“Yeah, especially that monstrous Beta.”
At the mention of that, Phoebe and Kaene glanced at me with curiosity in their eyes, but I remained silent, slowly raising my hands in a mock show of surrender.
‘What the heck is taking that old hag so long?’ I thought to myself, glancing at Elder Gita’s sanctuary.
Suddenly, as if she could read my mind, a blinding blue light shone from the duplex, shooting up in the form of a beam into the sky.
I stared at the blue beam of light in awe, left stunned beyond words.
When she mentioned she could take them out with one strike, I wasn’t expecting… Magic.
“Is there a witch here?!” One of the Hunters yelled, as they all paused what they were doing and stared at the beam of light as well.
I didn’t know why but something felt wrong with the beam of light.

My instincts screamed danger and for the first time in a long time, I felt like fleeing away from a situation.
Just when the beam of blue light seemed to have reached its full intensity, it finally happened.
A burst of energy was released from it, spreading around in a fifty-meter radius around Elder Gita’s sanctuary.
Kaene and Phoebe had each other to hold close to and cover their eyes while I had to rely on a protection spell just in case.
To my surprise, the blue burst of energy hit the surrounding humans and obliterated them into ash.
But the most surprising part?
It left Kaene and Phoebe unscathed but hit me with full force, causing my skin to burn in such an agonizing way that I almost screamed out.
Luckily, just when I felt like my magic couldn’t hold back the energy any longer, it receded into Elder Gita’s sanctuary, bringing calm back to the estate again.
“What the heck?” I muttered to myself, stretching out my hands and staring at them.
They had burn marks which I quickly tried to heal with my magic.
How did this happen? How was the attack able to affect everyone within its radius except Phoebe and Kaene?
“The Blue Moonstone.” Elder Gita’s voice sounded from the entrance of her sanctuary, forcing us to turn our gazes to her. “It was given to this pack by the moon goddess herself centuries ago, passed from generation to generation. It holds the power to destroy enemies who aren’t werewolves.”
Bloody hell…
I quickly hid my hands behind my back, since it was the only part of my body that was still affected by the attack.
It all made sense now.
“We’ve had such a powerful weapon within this pack and I didn’t know about it?” Kaene asked with a stern expression.
But Elder Gita remained unfazed, stretching out her right hand where she held a colorless gemstone with cracks all over it.
“Is that…?” Phoebe pointed at the gem with a surprised expression.
Elder Gita nodded solemnly. “The Blue Moonstone. We’ve never needed to tell you about it because it was kept aside as a last resort. The stone has now lost its power but can be recharged under the light of the next blue Moon.” She explained.
Fascinating!
It seemed I underestimated just how formidable this pack was.
No wonder the Hunters haven’t been able to wipe them out… Yet.
My hands still stung with the burns from the attack and my magic didn’t seem to help much.
Out of curiosity, I asked. “Uhh, question. Let’s say the witch who helped the Hunters was among them and got hit by the blast. Would it hinder his magic in any way?”
Elder Gita stared at me with her piercing eyes, making me feel unnervingly vulnerable.
She better stop that before I gorge her eyes out!
“Well, Beta Negan, to put it mildly… The stone’s power is divine. From the moon goddess herself.” She explained calmly, pride in her voice. “If it hits a witch and they somehow manage to survive… Then it can leave their magic ineffective.”
Shit.
