Rise of the Rejected Luna - Chapter 183
Chapter 183: _ Survival
When that panther-like creature first appeared out of nowhere and began attacking us, I felt dread creep up my shoulders but I kicked it down. I was the alpha of the pack after all. More than anyone else, I needed to make sure that my strength didn’t falter.
Lycan Davos shifted into his lycan form and threw himself at the creature to stop it from going after Negan and Sir Elijah, but their scuffle only lasted a short moment before the creature swatted him off like a fly.
Taking that as my cue to attack, I hurriedly pulled out the electric glove I’d taken off the female hunter from inside my coat and pulled it on. I circled round the creature which was now swinging its paws around and jumped over its back placing my hand over its gigantic head. The reaction was immediate. Electric jolts shot up its body, and it started to vibrate.
I expected it to be weakened by then, but it wasn’t, so I had to go into full beast mode. My wolf was at least five times smaller than the creature, but that didn’t stop me. I had a precision that it lacked.
When I finally managed to sink my teeth deep into its neck, it let out a deep growl. I took advantage of the pain, and ran my claws over the spot that I’d bitten, tearing off the skin with as much strength as I could muster.
It struggled a little longer, but soon stopped as it fell heavily to the ground, its head hanging loosely by a single thread to the rest of its body, and slimy gore spilling onto my hands and some parts of my clothes.
“What’s going on here?” I asked, as I turned my attention back to everyone and noticed them all gathered round Negan with wary expressions on their faces.
The creature had gotten Negan during their brief struggle earlier. Elder Gita hurriedly gave him something to help with the venom of the poison, but the potion knocked him out and now, Lycan had to carry him as we continued our journey.
After we decided on a place to settle for the night, I asked everyone to wait for me while I went to hunt some game for us to eat.
At that moment, Phoebe rose to her feet and asked to go with me. For a moment there, I almost gave in, but I knew better than that. This forest was dangerous, at least, we’d managed to establish that. I couldn’t risk her life. I turned away from her without a word.
As I neared an eerily quiet part of the forest, I gave in to my wolf’s desire to take over. I was more alert in this form than in my human form, anyway.
I heard the animal trotting by before I saw it. Quietly, I lowered to the ground to ensure it wouldn’t see me and turn around in fear.
It looked like an antelope, but was a lot smaller. Suddenly, the animal’s ears piqued, and it froze. Just as it turned to run, I jumped out of my hiding spot and pounced on it ferociously.
With practiced swiftness, I caught its head in one of my hands and yanked it off, sending blood spurting everywhere.
As I got ready to pull the game back to where our small group waited, I caught a pair of blood red eyes staring into mine a few feet away.

Oh shit! Could this day get any worse? I mean, how many more fights did I have to get in?
I braced for the defence, expecting the red eyed beast to attack, but instead, it reared its head back and let out a shrill scream that pierced the night and raised the hairs on my back.
What the fuck? I thought to myself, but in that moment, two similar looking creatures materialized out of the night, and stood on both sides of the four legged creature that had let out the cry.
All at once, they threw themselves at me. I ducked expertly, and landed a hard blow on one of them, while grabbing another by the neck and throwing it far away.
Two more surfaced out of the dark, making them five against just me. The creatures weren’t particularly large, but with a 5 to 1 ratio, I doubted that I stood a chance. I supposed they’d come for the game I’d killed, but I wasn’t certain they’d turn around now if I offered it to them.
As they stalked towards me predatorily, I stepped back. When the first one jumped at me, I caught it by the neck and tore it two in a single swift move.
This seemed to anger them as two others came at me at the same time. I clawed out the right eye of one of them, and felt the other sink its teeth into my back. Letting out an angry cry, I turned around, and held it by the neck, while plunging my teeth into its side, and ripping out its organs, spilling warm blood on my white fur in the process.
From the corner of my eye, I caught another making to come at me, but a familiar bipedal lycan rammed into it, taking off its head in one swift move. The other two were taken care of by Lycan Davos and Sir Elijah.
Immediately, I shifted into my human form, and turned towards the two men who’d also shifted. My coat was soaked in blood and I peeled it off, leaving my shirt underneath.
“Where are the others?” I asked breathlessly.
“We asked them to wait behind, Alpha.” Lycan Davos responded. “We heard a cry from this direction, and came as fast as we could.”
At that, I nodded and signalled the game which lay where I’d killed it. Sir Elijah swung it over his shoulders and led the way back where our small group was gathered.
As I walked stealthily behind them, there was just one thing on my mind. This forest was dangerous. We needed to find the ancients fast and return to our place and time.
As we neared the place where Phoebe and the others waited nervously, I breathed a heavy sigh of relief at her safety. I mean, I cared about them all, but Phoebe was my mate, and for a moment there, I’d been worried about more creatures attacking them, but the place looked safe enough.
As soon as Phoebe caught sight of me, she let out a squeal, and jumped to her feet to hug me. She checked me for possible injuries.
I’d sustained some in the scuffle earlier, but my wolf had healed the worst of them.
“Kaene! I was so scared! What happened?” She asked.
I glanced over at Elder Gita before responding and giving her a quick run through of the trouble I’d encountered with the red eyed creatures.
She looked visibly shaken. “I wonder when we will finally be able to leave this forest. There seems to be danger everywhere!”
“There’s no danger here!” Elder Gita finally spoke, her voice ringing clear. “I have sealed off this circle with protective charms. No evil can reach us here.”
Her reassurance calmed me briefly, but my eyes caught Negan’s still form, and the feeling of danger looming returned to my senses.
“When will Beta Negan wake?” I asked Elder Gita, but the old woman simply shrugged.
“I do not know. It depends on the quantity of poison that managed to enter into his body. The more the venom, the longer time it’ll take to heal, and so the longer he will sleep.”
On hearing this, I frowned. This might prove to be a hassle. Lycan Davos carrying Beta Negan through this journey was bound to slow us down and make us more vulnerable to attacks. We needed to move fast.
As if she’d read my mind, Elder Gita suddenly spoke.
“It doesn’t matter how fast or how slow we travel. The Ancients will find us when they are ready to see us. We just have to let them see that what we have come here for is a true cause.”
“And how do we do that?” Lycan Davos asked, but it looked as though the elderly woman had grown tired of answering questions, as she simply shrugged and turned away.
The two other men who had followed us began opening up the game I’d caught, and cleaning it. Phoebe struck a fire using two stones and they placed the meat which they had cut into smaller pieces over the fire.
A little over an hour later, we all sat eating our meal. With the hunter incident happening right in the middle of the wedding, none of us had really been able to eat today.
When we were through, we packed what was left of the meat in a bag and kept it safe for later.
I left the group for a short while to relieve myself, and when I returned, the sight that greeted me stopped me in my tracks for a few seconds.
Seated with Beta Negan’s head in her laps was my Luna. Although I no longer held any suspicion towards the both of them, and I was aware that Negan was unconscious now, I still felt a wave of jealousy coursing through my veins.
She stroked his hair and spoke quietly to him while the others slept. Oh, but by the Goddess, she was beautiful.
“Ahem!” I coughed to alert her of my presence.
She turned towards me and dropped the hand that stroked his hair, but still left his head in her laps.
I sat next to her, and listened to the words that came out of her mouth next.
“He’s been through so much, you know, yet he’s still the kindest person I’ve met in my whole life.”
Realizing that she was referring to Negan, I nodded briskly, and she continued.
“Elder Gita and Lycan Davos told me about his childhood tonight. They told me too how you two came to be friends. You know, sometimes, I wish I had a friendship like yours.” She finished on a wistful note.
I smiled, and pulled her closer to me. “What do you need friends for when you’ve got me?”
“Ha!” She chuckled. “You! A friend? All you ever do is tease me to no end.”
By this time, we were both laughing.
“Come on, wife. We need to get some sleep.”
Gently, she put Negan’s head down, and rose to her feet. Together, we lay in a makeshift bed that I’d put together earlier and closed our eyes to sleep.
I gathered her close to me, and rested a hand on one of her breasts. This certainly wasn’t how I’d planned to spend our wedding night, but life had a way of messing with Phoebe’s and my happiness.
I said a silent prayer to the moon goddess that we would find the Ancients, and find a way to fix this mess that had happened today.
I heard Phoebe’s steady breathing beside me, and sighed. I knew that it was the last thing that ought to be on my mind, but we really needed to get back to some place where we could find a room. I needed to fuck my wife.

My eyes suddenly shot open! It was still dawn, and there was a silence about us, but I could swear I’d heard a sound just now.
Carefully looking at my surroundings without making any sound, I noticed that Elder Gita’s eyes were wide open too. She was staring into space without uttering a word, and I found myself wondering whether or not to say something.
Suddenly, she got to her feet, and began packing the bags.
“Come on,” She said, “The Ancients have sent for us.”
Rising to a seating position, I looked at her incredulously. Sometimes, the woman confused me.
As if she sensed my confusion, she pointed at a large owl sitting on a tree branch over our heads. So that’s where the sound came from, I thought.
She woke the others, and within minutes,we continued on our journey, following the lead of the mighty owl which flew low over our heads.
There were two things that could happen after this. Either we got a solution to our problems, or we all died in this forest with no one from the outside world knowing what had happened to us.
Except the Morrigan sisters.
